You cleaned house in December @missjeanie! 41 empties?! 👏 That's fantastic! 🙌 That's an impressive empties goal for this year - about one empty a day (I forgot we're in a leap year). My empties count goes up during the cooloer months as well - I'm more likely to be burning candles and using sheet masks more frequently then. Hmmm.... candle and sheet mask use going hand-in-hand, who knew?!! 😂 Good luck with your 2024 empties goal; I have confidence in you - you got this!
@itsfi I feel like one a day is reasonable since I count foils and sample sizes. If I could get myself sheet masking more year round I'd be on a real roll! Funny you mention candles... I have on burning right now beside me... while I've a sheet mask on! lol
LOVES -Qtips... look... I know I'm not supposed to put them in my ears... But I feel the need to clean my ears after every shower. If Q tips and ice cream are my worst vices... well... here we are. -Feria Hair dye.... broken record at this point. -Gel Moments Flake Off, this is to get my gel polish off. Yes, Gel Moments is an MLM... but dang if I don't like the products. -Colour Wow -- I got a smaller one to try and I really like it. I use it before my air wrap and it really does make my hair nice and shiny. I'll end up purchasing a full size once I've gotten through some hair care products. -Kayali Vanila 28 and Eden Juicy Apple... are both now on my list to purchase. The question is only if I go full size or travel. They are lovely alone or layered together. -Summer Fridays CC me serum. I really like this as a vitamin C serum and am happy to have another to use. I've actually loved a lot of Summer Fridays products and am eager to work through some stash to try more. -Uoma Beauty tinted brow gel. Loved this one. Perfect shade, formula didn't flake or feel unnaturally stiff. It was dry enough, but also wet enough to go on easily.
LIKES -Aveeno Body Wash -- This was really nice on my dry skin, I just wish there was a nice scent to it. I do however appreciate that scent free is best for some so I'm glad it's available to them. I just may try something scented next time. -Voluspa Spiced Pumpkin Latte - I liked the scent on this one more before it was burning. I'd totally try it again as maybe mine was just a bit older, but it was lovely, I was just hoping for more. -Rare Beauty Primer -- These were from the Rare Beauty booth at Sephoria and they were actually surprising with how much I enjoyed them. I'm not a huge primer gal and these were so nice that I may try a full size! -Clinique Pep Start SPF -- This was nice on my skin, and layered nicely with other skincare and foundation. The drawback was if it got in my eyes... holy cow I'd be crying all day. -Kosas Tinted face oil-- I actually really enjoyed the formula and shade on this one. What took it down from a love was the 'nozzle' cracking making it impossible to put into a make up bag. This one needed to stay straight up and be quite carefully used to prevent a mess. -Function of beauty hair mask for wavy hair. My hair is wavy, but I felt like this was something I'd categorize as between a conditioner or mask in it's moisturizing level. I'd be curious to try more of their products with some of the add in's I've seen available. -Peach Slices Snail Rescue - I love snail in my skincare and saw this from a sister company to Peach and Lily (a brand I love) so thought it would be an easy pick up for a travel sized option. It fit the bill nicely. It wasn't too expensive, it was a nice add in to my skincare and I'd use it again. -Ulta Beauty Cleansing Wipes. These were gentle and did a good job. They were a good level of moist throughout use and the smaller pack size is nice since I try not to use wipes too often. -Yadah Revitalizing Jelly Pack was nice, lots of jelly in there, and left my skin feeling refreshed. I was able to use this one on my face for well over a half hour. -SooAe Super Intensive Hydrocell Mask -- I really liked the material on this mask and it really did leave me feeling very hydrated.
MEH -Bath and Body Works Candle in "tis the season" was okay, but it wasn't a favourite. -Wldkat Starflower Snow Mushroom sleep mask - this was okay, but not as hydrating as others I've used. The scent was also not my favourite. -Salon Perfect Lashes -- Lashes last me a LONG time as I only wear them once or twice a year. I also only wear them once so that I don't need to clean them and I buy the cheaper ones since I'm tossing them after one use. -The Cream Shop Cleansing Wipes -- I used these up after doing some face painting on my nieces. They work fine, but I need to use up my stash of wipes and move on. -Cinique Happy Perfume - This was a project pan item that I used up as a rug spray when cleaning. The scent changed over the decades that I'd owned this, yes decades. It wasn't a bad scent, but it wasn't my thing. -Lovescript Body Polish - This was an ipsy item that was fine, but it really wasn't anything special. -MAC cleansing oil mini- was good to have while traveling, but it's not my favourite formula going. -Bare Minerals Bare Pro powder - I used this on a day off where I wasn't going anywhere to see if I fell in love with the formula, but the shade was too dark. The formula... was unmemorable. -Victoria Secret Hydrogel mask - Loved the mask fabric/hydrogel, but the rose wasn't for me. -Everyday Bounce Mask -- would be fine as an everyday mask, but nothing special. -Tony Moly Pureness 100 Collagen Masks - These were fine. I'm trying to use up sheet masks and I'm noticing that there are a lot of them where the differences are so minute that they are all blending together. -SNC Jelly Vita Firming Masks -- These were nice. Good after a long day, but again, not super distinguishable from the hoard of other masks I have been using.
PASS - Random hair mask - This was a two part with the mask and a foil cap to wear while the mask was soaking in. The foil bit was hard to wear and there was enough mask product for at least two uses... I have longer hair and I could have easily made this into 4 masks. But then are you meant to keep the foil cap between uses? The mask part was fine but no better than others. -Random Hotel facial wipe - this was fine, I appreciate when hotels provide these to save their towels. But I also found half of it was dry. The half that was wet was nice though and I just added some water. -Wishful enzyme foil sample -- the foil was empty. -Fenty fragrance - I was not into this scent. -Manic Panic -- Picked this up when my salon was out of the joico... Heck no, it ran so badly and stained my pillowcases.
@missjeanie, the Kosas tinted face oil is a love of mine but 💯agree, the packaging needs to be redesigned. I am hoping that’s why I haven’t seen the product as much as before. 🤔
LOVES -SDJ Body wash... This one sat in my PO Box for a few years when crossing the boarder wasn't happening. It still smelled great when I picked it up and the scent is one I love particularly in the winter months when I want to remind myself that summer is a thing I'll see again someday! -Feria Hair Dye and conditioner is a staple and I go though about one a month. -Joico Hair Dye in Purple I use about a 1/3 of a tube every month. I like that this one doesn't run as much as other fantasy colours. -Moroccan Oil S&C is a nice one. I got these in a set and they were great for travel. I've contemplated full size versions several times but just haven't pulled the trigger as something else tends to be on sale when ever I go to buy S&C. -Touchland hand sanitizer.... I clearly forget to toss some empties in here depending on where and when I empty them... I'm pretty sure I've gone though several different scents of this stuff. Love that it isn't sticky! -Kayali Pistachio. Once I tried this I ordered the travel size right away. Now that I've used the travel size... I'm down for a full size. -Tretinoin and Differin Gel. I use these on opposite nights and they really do work to help keep the texture I'm VERY prone to. I still use both. -Cay Skin SPF-- yaaaa.... i'll pick up a full size. I'm realizing as I go through notes on products that I fell for this one last summer. -Amika Hair Mask - I've got a full size of this on the go at any point in time. Was nice to have a mini to take with me on nights away. -Briogio Deodorant- I first got this as a gratis item and have since purchased it a few times. It was my gateway to 'natural' deodorant and still one of the ones I've liked the best. -Eye Mask Stickers - These are ones that I've picked up in a few iterations from TJMaxx/Winners. I like the sticker style so that I can wear them around without worry of slippage. All of the versions have been nice. -Bath and Body Works candle in Pumpkin Pecan Waffles.... If I ever get through my candle stash, I would LOVE to have this one again. Perfect for fall or winter. -First Aid Beauty KP Bump Eraser... Probably my favourite FA product. It had a nice fine gritty texture with an easy to use vehichle. -Tony Moly Mango hand cream. Yes. Smells delish and works wonderfully.
LIKES -Voluspa Goji Tarocco Orange Candle - This was part of a three pack and it was lovely, but once it was done I was okay with moving on to something else. -Skinfood Black Sugar Mask -- This was left in my shower for me to do a mini exfoliation session with. I was able to use it up nicely this way. It never sat on my skin for more than a few minutes but the texture allowed me to feel like I was exfoliating, and I love the feeling of a manual exfoliation. -Native Deodorant -- These are fine. I do like that they often have different scents I can pick from, but I'm not convinced they're the be all end all of my deodorant use? -Mac Oil Cleanser - I like to have an oil cleanser with a pump in my shower. It just makes shower time easier than using a balm where I need to take the cap off and dig in. I have other oil cleansers I prefer at a lower price point so I likely won't re purchase, but it did the job. -Lime Crime Lip Liner -- This was a mini I believe and I liked the colour a lot. -DM Yummy Skin Serum primer and skin tint - these were nice, but I'd like another sample before I commit to the skin tint. -YTTP Adaptogen Moisturizer - I liked this, I'd use it again and possibly pick up a full size if I found it on sale. Too many others out there to try to commit to it full price lol.
MEH -May Coop Raw Sauce -- this was a project pan item... it didn't hurt anything, but it also didn't help anything. It was the definition of meh. -Mac Fix Plus - this was a mini of the regular version that I filled with the pearl version in order to return the larger pearl size to MAC. I would't repurchase the pearl, if there by chance was a bigger splatter of it rather than a mist, it was obvious and I'm not really a highlighter person to start with. -Glossier Foundation -- Very unmemorable. -Kiehl's Ultra facial Cream with SPF 30 - I liked having this so that my moisturizer gave an SPF boost to my actual SPF, but the formula itself was very basic and didn't give me the same sensory experience I have with other skincare. I think I still have another of these that came in the two pack. -Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen -- I've heard so much hype about this and while it's fine, I do not get the hype. I have other SPFs I much prefer. I'll use it, but it's not a first choice. -Floral Street Sweet Almond Blossom - Nothing offensive here, but nothing wowing. -Radical Skincare Eye Cream - I'm not huge on eye creams and this one did nothing to distinguish itself in the foil size. -Dr Bronners Castile Soap - I have a few mini's of this around that I use out on the boat or at camp. Its fine, but nothing that I see warrants the level of obsessive love I see some people have for it. -Fenty Foundation -- Felt a bit heavier/fuller coverage than I prefer.
PASS -First Aid Beauty tinted moisturizer was not for me. I struggled to use this up mixing it with other foundations or moisturizers. It sat on my skin in such a way that it highlighted any dry patches or pores. -A bath and body works hand cream from ... who knows when was stuck behind a box in my beauty drawers. -Naturally Upper Canada Calming face mask -- this was a peel off mask, that took forever to dry and still peeled off so poorly. I'm not the biggest peel off fan to start so this is a pass for me.
I have to say, there were some gems in your commentary with the meh and passes bunch @missjeanie that had me cracking up! 😆 Curious to know if you think you’ll continue to work through “meh” items this year or will you declutter them? 🤔
btw, I repurpose my gwp Dr Bronner’s soaps as brush soap.
