Spoiler

Re: Empties - V2

@itsfi Brush soap is a great idea for the Bronners!  I'm hoping that a lot of the meh and pass items are out of my stash and that I'll make better purchasing decisions this year.  That said, if I come across them I'll hopefully be able to repurpose things as body care.  I swear every time I go to declutter something I hear my grandmothers voice telling me that I'm wasting a product and I shouldn't be wasting things and then buying others.  Purposeful purchases this year fi... purposeful purchases lol!

Re: Empties - V2

This is July of 2023... 18 empties for a yearly total of 220 at this point, goal of 550 for the year.

Spoiler
These are again divided left to right, Loves to Passes.

LOVES
-Feria hair dye and the conditioner that comes with... an easy love.
-Sun Bum Cool Down spray.  I'm pretty religious with my SPF, but I missed a few little spots on a beachy vacation last summer and this really helped to sooth the missed spots.  Will keep one of these on hand with my SPF going forward for those accidents! Was also loved by my SO after his swimsuit slipped lower and he ended up with a red line around his waist.
-Christophe Robin Hydrating Hair Mask -- I've used a few of these over the years and I always love them.   I tend to love a lot from the brand tbh.
-Cay Skin SPF -- This was the second mini I used and I like it more every time I use it.  It was super lovely for under make up and gave a nice glow without being sparkly.
-Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair.  I really like this.  It felt so lovely going on that its a sensory experience for me and though this wasn't enough to see any fabulous results, it was enough to make me want to pick up more if I ever run out of products in the same catagory.

LIKES
-Loreal Ever Pure Shampoo and Conditioner.  This was really nice for a drugstore product.  I feel like drugstore S&C have come a long way the last 15 or so years since I've used them.  I'll be working more drugstore S&C into my routine alongside my mid range products going forward to test out different lines.
-Drunk Elephant BHydra.  I like this, I don't love it.  I like having an extra layer of hydration for my skin, but I don't see this as a standout product.  It does what it says, but it's just not 'wowing' me.  I've used several full and trial size in the past and I will again depending on my product collection at any given time.

MEH
-The Yadah Snail masks were some my first snail products and a long time fav, however as I've used more snail products, these are nice, but not as great as I once thought.  I'll totally use more and pick up more at random should I ever need a sheet mask again, but at one point I was seeking them out hard.  Now it's a 'if I come across them'.
-Sweet Chef Ginger Vitamin C serum.  This is fine, but I didn't notice any brightening over the course of the bottle and have easily found other vitamin C products that do give me visible results.
-Milk Make up Mascara.  I love the wand on this one, I love the volume as well.  It's lovely, and in past years it would be a like, however I noticed some smudging at the end of a long day.  I do touch my face a lot and it could have been the products I used on my face at the time but I was a bit disappointed this try.  I do have another so we'll see how that one goes.
-Ouai Scalp Scrub.  I like the way this one lathered, the scent was just meh... I only use a scalp scrub once a month or so, so I won't be in the market for a while.  I'm fine to use this again, but think I prefer the Christophe Robin version.
-Tony Moly Jelly Cleanser.  I'm always happy to have a mini cleanser to use for travel and this one lasted really long time.  It really only takes a small amount to get a good lather and it does a good job cleaning.  I happened upon a full size of this right after I tried the mini and picked up the full size.  I think the reason this is a meh and not a like is simply due to fatigue.  It really does use such a tiny amount at a time that the full size is still going strong in my shower well over 6 months later. I like to change things up.

PASS
-First Aid beauty moisturizers... These do moisturize.  But they also can leave me feeling a bit greasy with residue.  They just don't sink in in a way I love.
-IGK Charcoal dry shampoo.  This one looks fine at first, but if I touch my hair or scratch my scalp after using it I end up with dark residue under my fingernails.  I realize this can happen with any dry shampoo, but I don't notice it with my beloved Amika.
-Random Hotel Soap.  It was random.  It was used at an outdoor sink to wash up after gardening.  It was fine, but I mean... are these ever loves?
- KVD Tattoo Liner.  This is one that gives me conflict.  I've a sour taste in my mouth from the brand even after it was sold after disagreeing big time with the brand owner years back.  That said, I very much prefer a brush liner over a felt tip and this was one that was readily available.  I use them if they come into my life through GWP etc, but I no longer purchase from the brand.  The good news... I rarely wear a liquid liner these days anyhow so it's not really a big issue in my life by any stretch.

Re: Empties - V2

@missjeanie  Oh I really like the Cay Skin sunscreen and the EL Advanced Night Repair.

Re: Empties - V2

@Cissy63 I have the #CAY SKIN Isle Glow Face Moisturizer SPF 45 with Sea Moss and Niacinamide 1.5 oz / 45 mL on my list for the spring sale!  Was so lovely.

Re: Empties - V2

We both were pretty close to our goal @missjeanie I mean dang that's a lot of products you worked through

Re: Empties - V2

@lmaster Fresh year to try again!

Re: Empties - V2

@missjeanie Are these ever loves got me laughing. Fantastic job on all the empties!! I'm certain you can hit your goal!

Re: Empties - V2

@Samtian Missed the goal for 2023 but 2024 is a fresh start!!  I can't believe how stuffed the area under my sink was with empties... can't let that happen again lol

Re: Empties - V2

@missjeanie, seeing that Yadah snail mask made for a trip down (sheet masking) memory lane. 🐌 100% agree; it's fine as a sheet mask but not one anyone needs to run out to find. I should try to go back and figure out how many snail mucin masks I used. Not enough for a new one for an entire year, but I'm sure a lot of them.

That IGK dry shampoo used to be a go to for me, until amika came along. Come to think of it, yes, it did leave a dark residue under my fingernails on occasion. What?!!

Re: Empties - V2

@itsfi The masking thread and you included, really introduced me to a LOVE of snail.  Such an underrated skincare ingredient!

Re: Empties - V2

@missjeanie, awww, thanks. I appreciate that you were open minded to it; I understand how it can be offputting. 🐌  It's seeing an uptick in popularity again, with it trending on TikTok.

Re: Empties - V2

@itsfi Ahhhhh Tick Tock... I might hear about that from the kids at work well after it's popular lol.  I'm happy if that's what's gaining popularity though... it's such a good one!

Re: Empties - V2

So... I've had empties since June under my bathroom sink... Gonna try and get through these all to count up how I did last year as well as clear out some space lol!

My goal for the year was 550 empties, This is June 2023, and I had 21 empties bringing the yearly total to 202.

Spoiler
I've kind of done groups from right to left of loves to pass.
LOVES
-The Playa shampoo had a scent to it that I really love, and it's not the scent family I generally prefer for my hair care, it was warm and spicy and I'd have kept buying it if it was still around.
-Joico purple hair colour, I use this in a section of my hair and it lasts the best out of the fantasy colours I've tried. I've bought countless bottles over the years and will continue to do so.
-Feria conditioner (from the dye I use for the rest of my head), this stuff is great.  Makes my hair feel silky soft... wish they sold it without the dye!
-OG Bite Beauty lip mask in lavender.  Not my favourite shade, but RIP to my favourite formula.  Nothing quite as good as it.
-Peach and Lily Glass Skin Serum ... a brand that I've totally fallen for.  So many great formulas in their line up.
-Farmacy Green Clean in the citrus scent.  I was late to the Green Clean craze, but I'm glad I got here.  I'll now be paying more attention to the LE scents they do.

LIKES
- Head Kandy Miracle Spray -- Came in IPSY I think? Solid product to detangle and protect.  If I saw it again, I'd pick it up, but I'm not seeking it out.
-Cay Skin SPF was a surprise winner for me, it had a shimmer to it, but it wasn't overwhelming.  I'll be keeping an eye on the line going forward and may pick this up again to test out longer term.
-Farmacy Honey Halo Moisturiser was really nice, I've since bought a full size and gotten another one from Sephoria, great in the winter or when I've done something to my skin barrier.
-Tatcha Indigo Overnight Cream -- Really nice, I also purchased a full size of this at TJ Maxx right before getting one at Sephoria as well.  I'm luckily now stocked on skincare for the winter!
-Beauty Blender.  I do like these, but I think 30 bucks for a sponge is a lot.  I like the Real Techniques ones just as well so I will use Beauty Blender if I find them on sale, but at regular price they're a pass.

MEH
-Mermaid Goals Shower Steamers -- Okay I LOVE the concept here and am now into shower steamers full on.  The scent on these were nice, but I'm going to try for varieties going forward.  I did find that it was easy for me to use an entire steamer in one shower, so I like that this brand included a mesh bag to hang from my shower head with the puck in it.  This made them last longer and I've kept the mesh bag to use like this going forward!
-Tony Moly Pureness 100 Collagen Sheet Masks -- These are good.  Nothing crazy about them, but they do what I find most sheet masks do for me... give a boost of hydration to my parched skin.
-Keys Peptide Serum and Pericone Moisturizer.... were both forgettable.  It could be the super small size just wasn't enough to form clear thoughts with, but I'd use them if given them again, these just didn't entice me to seek them out.

NOPE
-Leaver 2000... yes this is still made.  LOL, my grandmother has tried gifting to some of the guys in my life.  Those guys use nothing but Ivory bar soap.  I used this up at the lake just to use it up.  I much prefer body washes with lovely scents to them.
-OH Nurture me cleansing wipes.  These were used up on the boat or at the lake, I can't recall which.  They had a lovely scent to them but overall I think wipes aren't for me.  I like to actually wash my face.  I know these have a place in my life when I'm not able to do that, but these were a drier wipe and very meh.
-Floral Street Wonderland Peony -- too floral for my liking.  I used it up as a room spray when cleaning just to use it up.

Re: Empties - V2

@missjeanie Great job! I am currently loving the citrus Farmacy green clean atm!

Re: Empties - V2

@Mellmars1185 I'm kinda kicking myself for not getting the trio again this past holiday season... I convinced myself I didn't need it and should work through product but now I'm having mild regret! I need another LE scent to come out soon lol

Re: Empties - V2

@missjeanie Oh yes! I didn't see and of the LEs available on the Canadian site. I would have purchased the (tea?) Set that came out. I even went to Farmacy direct but I dont beleive they ship to Canada. I have the blueberry one left. Hopefully by the time I am done that one there wlll be more LE scents 🤞

Re: Empties - V2

@Mellmars1185 I was on their website yesterday looking to see where they ship as well... sadly... not to Canada 😥

Re: Empties - V2

@missjeanie  Great job. 👏

Re: Empties - V2

Good job 👍 @missjeanie

Re: Empties - V2

@missjeanie, it’s pouring outside so I’m going to settle in, make myself comfy, and catch up with your empties. I spy 2 sheet masks in this group! 🙌🏼

What’s your favorite Peach & Lily product?

Re: Empties - V2

@itsfi Favourite.... well... I really love the Glass Skin Veil Mist, I'm just into mists lately as a bit of top up of hydration through the day and during the summer they feel like a lovely refresh when it's too hot out.  The Glass Skin refining serum really does add a certain je ne sais quoi to my skincare as well.  And then I also love the Ginger Melt Oil Cleanser.  I like to keep an oil cleanser in my shower to be able to take off my make up and cleanse at the same time.  The oil melt is a nice size bottle that does the job with a lovely scent at a great price point for something I'm going to wash down the drain.

I'm quite eager to try out more of their products over the next few years.  I hope the ULTA nearest me ends up with more of their products on the shelves.

Lol... Its snowing out here and I was not feeling it so we'll be curled up with empties together! lol
