15 Minute Make Up Looks, Tips & Tricks

I found myself yesterday with last minute plans with a friend and thought we all might share our favorite products, looks or tips for when we have limited time (say 15 minutes at most) to put on our face but still need to look like we made an effort.

In this case, after quickly applying Avene Tolerance moisturizer and #ALPYN Instant Bright Eye Dark Circle Firming Cream with Niacinamide & Peptides 0.5 oz / 15 mL  to clean skin, I skipped the primer and mixed Paula's Choice Tinted SPF with Drunk Elephant B-Goldi™ Bright Illuminating Drops with 5% Niacinamide 1 oz / 30 mL  which apply and blend in a snap for a bit of color correction and glow. I then went over red areas on my forehead, around the nose, on the chin and undereyes with Fenty Beauty by Rihanna We're Even Hydrating Longwear Waterproof Concealer  in Light 110 W and blended it out quickly with a domed foundation brush. For a bit of color and lift, I used #Iconic London Blurring Blush Cream to Powder Lip and Cheek Stick Daiquiri . I then lightly set the above with HUDA BEAUTY Easy Bake and Snatch Pressed Talc-Free Brightening and Setting Powder Poundcake  before applying DIOR Diorshow Iconic Overcurl Mascara 090 Black  and Kosas Wet Lip Oil Plumping Peptide Lip Treatment Gloss  in Jellyfish. I really wanted to define my brows a bit with Grande Cosmetics GrandeBROW 2-In-1 Tinted Brow Gel + Brow Enhancing Serum Light  but it was taking too long to find and I was out of time so had to give up on it.

Positives of this product combination? Everything blended quickly and wore well: even after sleeping in my makeup (yay, lazy) nothing had settled into my pores, creases or wrinkles.

Lessons and tips? None of these products could disguise poor texture on my chin from years of cystic acne through my twenties. In the future I might consider a blurring product or primer. Also, this was a reminder make up in a hurry requires either a go bag or careful organization of products by category so you don't lose time fishing for products like I did for my brows.

Re: 15 Minute Make Up Looks, Tips & Tricks

This was an amazing and really fun 15 minute challenge to try and think about!

A couple things that helped me as I was going through it was actually going back in my head to take note of some tips to write

1. Oufit pick this took a good 5-6 minutes

2. something I found helpful was doing laying out bronzer on my face, highlighter, and the 2 blushes I wanted to blend all at once.

Totally okay to giggle with me in laughing as I’m writing this at my expression!

3. Make sure I really took the time to blend I noticed after that there had been some missing spots

4. I forgot to do my eyebrows went back and did them

5. prep hair I did this in a bun and then took down with the product already in my hair

This was really fun

I got close to 15 minutes

I found my makeup went on smoother when I wasn’t thinking about the deadline or time crunch

Re: 15 Minute Make Up Looks, Tips & Tricks

I'm totally giggling along with you @peculiarzmakeup

I think this is an amazing accomplishment, you look so polished and out together and that you did this in 15 is astounding. 👏🐸

Did you include picking your outfit time as part of your total 15 as well?

Re: 15 Minute Make Up Looks, Tips & Tricks

I’m glad 🙂 😃 and yes I did include the outfit in the time I think in my process I find I can’t do my makeup or know what makeup to choose until I have my outfit but in a way it’s always the same I mostly wear black. So I do have a base knowledge but when I go out sometimes I like to switch it up 🤗🌸 great question I feel like it is so crucial for me 🙂 @CynthieLu

Re: 15 Minute Make Up Looks, Tips & Tricks

Oooh that's extra impressive @peculiarzmakeup 👌 You accomplished a lot and nothing feels rushed at all.

Re: 15 Minute Make Up Looks, Tips & Tricks

@peculiarzmakeup  Ha I love the progress shot!  You’re adorable!!   15 minutes is hard!  The red lip is genius insta-glam!

Re: 15 Minute Make Up Looks, Tips & Tricks

Thank you so much! I really enjoyed the process of this it was fun, love seeing everyone’s unique experience. You are so sweet! @heartsmyface

Re: 15 Minute Make Up Looks, Tips & Tricks

@PDXXXX  I adore this thread idea I think it is such an amazing concept. I’ll have to try this. This is so cool thank you for starting this thread ❤️ your look is gorgeous and so well executed time wise, you look so beautiful!

Re: 15 Minute Make Up Looks, Tips & Tricks

Thank you @peculiarzmakeup ! It's very close to the Sephora Six: Back to Basics challenge but allows a little more time and unlimited products for people to show their more everyday looks. My own, for example, was when a friend was coming over on short notice to hang out, and I kind of thought of it as looks for when you give just enough of a you know what to look like you made some effort but also are in the company of people or going to do something low key that doesn't require a perfect look. I would love to see what you come up with!

Re: 15 Minute Make Up Looks, Tips & Tricks

This is amazing! I will definatley post with an update and some tips. I love the concept I think it’s important to prioritize what works time wise and for a on the go look! Love it 😍 @PDXXXX

Re: 15 Minute Make Up Looks, Tips & Tricks

This was a little bit cheating because I (gasp) slept in my eye makeup last night. But it was also like 3 minute makeup, lol. I had only a couple of minutes before a zoom call (story of my life), so I threw on  some Danessa Myricks Beauty Yummy Skin Blurring Balm Powder 3 applied with the Danessa Myricks Beauty Yummy Face 2.0 Teardrop Kabuki Complexion Brush # and then reached for Spiced latte from theDanessa Myricks Beauty Yummy Skin 4-Ever Flushed Lip and Cheek Set . After putting on my cheeks, I thought why not on my lips and it looked pretty good and I thought, why not on eyes? I liked how it turned out, even though this is warmer than I tend to go!

The Danessa Myricks Beauty Yummy Face 2.0 Teardrop Kabuki Complexion Brush  Plus blurring balm is amazing for super fast but lasting coverage. It’s fast because it is big but also can easily get into Under eye area and even skin out nicely. @PDXXXX

Re: 15 Minute Make Up Looks, Tips & Tricks

@sister13  Oh but we all know if you slept in your makeup you were working way too late and you weren’t going to get enough sleep anyway.  Also, day 2 makeup always seems to look so good!  Like how?
I need to get the second lightest shade of the blurring balm so I can better appreciate it.  I have the lightest and it’s actually too light! I’m not used to this pale girl inclusivity!
You look fresh and angelic despite your day 2 claims.

Re: 15 Minute Make Up Looks, Tips & Tricks

Thanks! It’s true sometimes about day 2 makeup. I try not to do that but sometimes it sneaks up on me! This was the new Dolly Beauty Black eyeliner so a pretty good test of it, actually. The wings didn’t stay overnight but the bulk of it did. I reach for the blurring balm a lot and the brush really seems to apply it the best! @heartsmyface

Re: 15 Minute Make Up Looks, Tips & Tricks

Such an amazing quick 3 minute look wowza! You look radiant and ready for the meeting. Very stunning and professional! I love this! It’s so neat sometimes what comes out of having a deadline like a time crunch! Very neat! @sister13

Re: 15 Minute Make Up Looks, Tips & Tricks

Thanks!! @peculiarzmakeup

Re: 15 Minute Make Up Looks, Tips & Tricks

@sister13 you look so beautiful in the Spiced Latte. I love the warm tones on you! I have been really drawn to that kabuki brush, it's nice to hear somebody give it the thumbs up! I've tried the Danessa Myricks Beauty Yummy Skin Soothing Serum Skin Tint Foundation with Peptides + Ceramides but now you have me curious about the blurring balm. I can't believe you pulled this off so quickly!!

Re: 15 Minute Make Up Looks, Tips & Tricks

Thanks so much! The blurring balm has been amazing for quick easy coverage that still looks like skin and for some reason this brush applies it best. I’m always in a rush to get to virtual meetings on time, even though I’m working from home and have no excuse for it , lol. I was pleasantly surprised at Spiced Latte especially using it all over! @PDXXXX @peculiarzmakeup

Re: 15 Minute Make Up Looks, Tips & Tricks

Ummm... can I just have you beauties do my makeup for me?! Love a quick and easy polished look and yours @PDXXXX is beautiful - fresh and pulled together; very pretty. I would not have thought it only took you 15 minutes to do if you hadn't said anything.

For me, having a curated set of products or an idea of what to use in that situation is helpful for a makeup look in a pinch. For the first  Sephora Six - Fast & Furious Edition challenge, I was able to do my very simple makeup look in just under 5 minutes - Fast & Furious (under 5 minutes) and had some good takeaways from that effort = Prep + Practice + Product Selection + Play Favorites + Positioning

1. Prep - Set up makeup products (and tools) within easy reach and sight.

2. Practice - Do a trial run before a quick face needs to happen. Challenges like the ones on the makeup challenge thread, the Fast & Furious thread and this one are some ways to kickstart a trial run.
3. Product Selection - Choosing multi-taskers, whether in a product that can serve more than one function or a beauty product that contains multiple makeup products in it
4. Play Favorites - Pick product(s) that you have some familiarity with, or have had time to practice with
5. Positioning - I sandwich the more challenging makeup items in between ones that I can do quickly, easily and almost effortlessly. If I goof on the harder to do product, I can move on to another one I'm familiar with - it helps keep me in a good rhythm. Example - if eyeliner is a challenge for me, it would be a step in my routine between something that is easy breezy (or easier) for me to do, say, lipstick and brow gel. This helps me from getting too flustered.

Yeaaah, so about y'all doing my makeup 😉 ... lemme know what works for your schedules!

Re: 15 Minute Make Up Looks, Tips & Tricks

@itsfi I think you may be the most organized person I have ever met.  I also can’t help but feel that if I had an ‘I’m late kit’ I would actually lean on its’ existence too much.

Re: 15 Minute Make Up Looks, Tips & Tricks

i was thinking the same right?! So many skilled beauties here, including yourself! What a fantastic list I love how structured and layed out it made me think of layers or an onion 🧅 I don’t know why but like the break down each step reveals something new and uncovers a whole new way to look at time and makeup. Oi that was deep, I think I’m tearing up from the metaphorical onion. Love this @itsfi  thanks for sharing these with us. ❤️❤️
