Re: The Question Thread 2.0!!

Hi Ladies!

I desperately need help, so alas, I've come to the almighty BT.

My hair is naturally black, but most of it is currently dyed red. I need ALL my hair to temporarily (1 day) look like its natural black/deep brown color.

Any recommendations? I looked up hair chalks, sprays etc, but all of them were supposedly bad or flaked all over clothes (which I cannot afford to have happen). I need to look professional, clean, and not greasy haired.

Any advice is welcomed! I'm lost as ever. Thanks!

OK what is the difference between a serum and an essence?...

OK what is the difference between a serum and an essence?? I'm totally confused :P. Is an essence like the marriage of a serum and a toner?? I've been recently playing around a bit with my skincare regime, and was reading about "honey skin" and "glass skin" which are Korean trends. Thanks so much in advance!

Re: OK what is the difference between a serum and an essence?...

@niki172  this is my understanding... the essence is usually there to prep the skin for your next step/other treatments and help other products work better while the serums is there to target a specific concern.

Re: OK what is the difference between a serum and an essence?...

Thanks @veronika23 so it's basically like a primer for your skin? The thing that trips me up is that why would you want to put another skincare item on your face that can inhibit serums getting closer to your skin - like an extra barrier? I don't know if I'm making any sense - I should probably go back to sleep lol.

Re: OK what is the difference between a serum and an essence?...

@niki172  kinda in a way. No, I know exactly what you are saying. They don't act as barriers though... more like a sponge maybe. Not sure if that's the right word either. It helps your skin to better absorb your serum and moisturizer... to attract and retain that moisture. You use it right after cleansing before any other products. Unless you use a toner... it would be after that.

Re: OK what is the difference between a serum and an essence?...

Thanks @veronika23 that makes sense. I have bottles of that SK II around - maybe I should give that a whirl. Oh and a travel size bottle of Raw Sauce - maybe I'll play chemist on small parts of my face later on today 😄

Re: OK what is the difference between a serum and an essence?...

hahahaha @niki172. Hope you'll like one of them. I haven't tried the SK II yet but I remember not really liking the raw sauce... although a lot of people love it. I think though they are the type of products you have to try a while to see if you really like them... to see a difference you know. Have fun! 😉

Re: The Question Thread 2.0!!

Hi Everyone,

I am looking for a recommendation - which palette should i buy?   I don't wear eyeshadow all that often so I don't have A LOT of it and I woud love a few  pinks and (any) dark blues/glitter dark violets.  I have some eyeshadow singles, some glitter and cream shadow sticks but I find myself reaching for palettes for more complex because it's easier/quicker than opening several different products.  However, the only palettes I have right now are: Tarte (Unicorn) MBIY Palette, Anastasia Modern Renaissance Palette and Too Faced "Return of Sexy" Palette though I've used up a lot of that one and shouldn't count it.   I am hoping people will tell me what they would buy if they had a smallish palette collection, (blue eyes if that matters), and could only purchase ONE of the following:

* Huda Beauty Desert Dusk Palette

* Too Faced Beauty Agenda (Christmas 2017/special edition palette)

* Anastasia Bev. Hills. Prism Palette

* Or alternatively should I buy MAC and create my own Palette? Does anyone know when MAC has their yearly sales? I haven't shopped there much at all lately and I'm out of the loop.

I'm stuck! I can't decide! I'm leaning towards the desert dusk palette because it's soooo beautiful but maybe I should consider that I need something a bit different than modern renaissance because I don't have many palettes? Thank you so much for any advice or insights you may have ladies! : ) 💕💕💕💕💕🙏💕💕💕💕💕

Re: The Question Thread 2.0!!

Of the palettes you listed I think the Huda one would be the most versatile. You might want to look at the Too Faced Clover palette because it has a nice color variety.

Re: The Question Thread 2.0!!

@PamelaCMThank you so much! : ) I think i am leaning towards the Huda palette because it's so pretty though i don't know anything about the brand. Ooooh yes the Too Faced clover palette has quite a few of the shades that I want to have thank you for the tip! : )

Re: The Question Thread 2.0!!!

Not a beauty related question. Just wondering what's the least expensive way to ship a box of goods (smallest sephora box, 2lbs) from the States to Canada with tracking number. The only option on USPS website is the Priority Mail International® Medium Flat Rate Box, and it costs around $40-50. I mean, that's a lot of money just for shipping. Please help!

Edit: @veronika23 I know you get stuff from our neighbour quite often, would you please share. Thank you!

Re: The Question Thread 2.0!!!

@Babypeachist   I think it's USPS first class international. There's a customs number or something that acts like a tracking. Usually starts with an L and ends with US. That number isn't considered tracking when you talk to USPS though but I've used it to follow my shipments on both the US and Canadian postal sites. Sometimes it might miss a scan but I'm ok with it. I'm used to it. Also use you own box vs a prepaid flat rate box. Hope this helps.

Re: The Question Thread 2.0!!!

@veronika23 Thank you very much for the quick reply! I thought it was USPS first class international but it's not showing on their website. Maybe they are trying to hide it so we have to use a more expensive method. Anyways, that's very helpful and thank you;)

Re: The Question Thread 2.0!!!

hahaha yeah maybe @Babypeachist 😄 I know shipping a small box, that's fairly light costs around 9$-15$. Maybe you'll need to go to the PO?

Re: The Question Thread 2.0!!!

@veronika23 That's what I'll ask my friend to do! My wallet has suffered a lot during this shopping season, and the last thing I wanna do is to pay a $50 shipping!

Re: The Question Thread 2.0!!!

@Babypeachist  yeah I totally get it. You never wanna pay that much in shipping 😄

RE: The Question Thread 2.0!!!

Does anyone own both the new fenty galaxy palette and the new urban decay metallic palette? How do they compare? Which one is better?

Re: RE: The Question Thread 2.0!!!

@kikyochan   sorry I don't have an answer for you but did you try to also post your question in either the Fenty or UD thread? Maybe someone that picked it up both will have an answer for you.

From what I've seen online it looks like the Fenty one is more glittery so you need glitter glue for that one vs the UD that might be more traditional feeling shadow if that makes sense. Like I think the Fenty could compare more to the UD moondust... but I haven't seen them in person so I can't say for sure. Those are just my impressions from the pics/info online.
