Do you have a box full of perfume vials and/or a vanity covered in perfume bottles? Are you the Goldilocks of perfume, just looking for the perfect signature scent? Do you want an opportunity to post daily about how your perfume of the day smells oaky and smoky with hints of blackberry and currant, like a cigar in a whisky barrel rolling through a Mediterranean orchard on a breezy summer morning?
If you answered yes to any of the above, or you just want to hop on board for the ride, join us for a 31 days of perfume challenge starting January 1st! Some of us from the 25 days of lipstick challenge wanted to continue the fun and exploration, and since many of us have so many perfume samples, we thought this challenge would be perfect. If you don't have 31 perfumes or hate everything that doesn't smell like Meyer lemons and fresh goat cream, that's fine--we're just aiming to use the neglected perfumes we have laying around and incorporate them into our perfume rotations.
And if you want more perfume vials, there's no better time than now to take a peek at Sephora's samples section.
Edit: Anyone can join in at anytime! We're here to support, live vicariously through, and encourage everyone in their olfactory adventures!
@QueenMarceline I'm a big fan of Good Girl and was interested in this one as well. Not gonna lie, the bottle has a big influence on me wanting to purchase it.
@makeitup305 Me too. I think it might be a LE or at least that's how it appears on the official CH site so I might use one of my old gift cards on it. I just feel like I need the pair of shoes on my vanity. 😁😂
@QueenMarceline Every holiday when they have the LE edition packaging I have to talk myself out of it. They had a little duo for $25 that was very tempting, as well. Have you smelled the men’s version? Delicious also.
@makeitup305 I actually have not, I always pass by it and love that bottle too but I already know no matter what my S/O would refuse to use it because of the bottle. If it's not in your basic Dior Sauvage bottle or a DIOR Dior Homme Sport bottle he won't touch it 😂🙃
@QueenMarceline what about Viktor&Rolf Spicebomb Night Vision Cologne with Citrus & Woods ? It’s my favorite men’s cologne but my bf doesn’t wear any so I haven’t bought it.
@makeitup305 I honestly think I could get away with that one because it looks like a darn grenade. LOL! 😂Lightning bolts? Nope. Grenades? 🤔😂I'll have to check it out I'm actually shocked I haven't yet because I'm a huge V&R perfume fan.
if you smell it, let me know what you think @QueenMarceline . My friend's response was "it smells like someone I would cheat on my husband with" lol
@makeitup305 Update: I went into a Sephora today and instantly saw the green bottle. ALSO, weirdly and rarely enough I was with my s/o. I was so excited they had this on display and that I actually picked up on it quick enough to get to make a b-line towards it's direction (I literally get rushed out of a Sephora, I swear it's like he's allergic or something)! 😂I loooooved the scent. So, I have to tell you the full story because it's hilarious.
I go to smell it and spray it on a tester, I instantly love it. It's much more "vibrant" than your usual male colognes which is what I think made it so unique to me. There I am, falling in love with a cologne in the Sephora fragrance aisle and then I realized I totally got what your friend meant when she said that this is the type of cologne that smells like "the type of guy she would cheat on her husband with". 😂As this is going through my head and while I continue to sniff the tester, here comes Mr. Allergic-To-Sephora. Right away before I could even hear the "this was only supposed to take a minute" I shove the tester directly into his face and ask "What do you think?!?" And he goes.... ahem..... and I quote, "I think it smells like your dad." 👁👄👁 That is what I imagine my face looked like. Now, I should explain my dad is a huge fragrance guy he's where I get my "nose" from (literally and figuratively LOL) while my mom is more of a dabbler compare to him, so needless to say... he owns a plethora of male colognes or at least he used to. He's found his "hits" LOL But his response, coupled with what your friend said literally had me in tears. Also I'd to know where both your friend and my dad were last week, Wednesday at 8:30pm 😂😂😂(I joke, I joke) But good god, was I not expecting THAT response.
Omg @QueenMarceline that is hilarious! I coughed out a laugh when I read it. Kudos to your dad though! lol
@makeitup305 LOL! Well now I literally have to smell it 😂😂😂
The OG Good Girl is my favorite scent! Thank you for your review as I was wondering if I should start saving. I did grab the mini 2 bittle set that included the original and the this one. It's such a hard decision!
@DearDava Agreed. They are very pricey, glad I could help with the review. I really like the perfume but I guess I have to decide if it's unique enough to pay the asking price for. Love my OG Good Girl a whole bunch and honestly the bottle alone on this one really wants to make me own it in my collection (as well as enjoying). Only time will tell 🙂
@QueenMarceline - Rose is a no-go for me, but I love the bottle! 😍
@Titian06 Haha, understandable it's a polarizing scent. I feel like most either love it or hate it-no in between. That bottle is drop dead beautiful though.
A few days ago, I decided to revisit a very old (and I believe discontinued perfume) I own from LUSH Fresh Handmade Cosmetics called Imogen Rose. I bought this a while back and I used to use it a lot, enough for me to buy a back-up bottle (now I just have two bottles laying around, lol). So I decided to revisit this perfume and will likely revisit some of my older LUSH perfumes in the future.
My Thoughts After Wearing It For The Day:
If you're familiar with LUSH's coveted Rose Jam scent this is nowhere near similar to it. Rose Jam is a fresh, vibrant, almost sweet/sour, sparkling "young" rose while Imogen Rose is a "to the point", freshly cut out-of-the-garden, natural rose scent that comes at you full-force. In addition to the rose notes I definitely smell an earthy, raw undertone and also a touch of muskiness lingering in it's middle and bottom notes. There's also a slight touch of conventional sweetness that brings these two separate note families (floral and earthy/musk) together in order to create that cohesive blend of notes, something "down the middle", likely a vanilla or maybe even a coconut. This is truly a unique scent that I think is very rare for a "rose" perfume, I could definitely see some people considering this to be a scent that lies on the "mature" side. I actually really enjoy this perfume, I really liked how it blended with my skin chemistry and I continued to take whiffs of myself throughout the day (which is always a good sign). The lasting power and intensity of this is definitely up to par with what I've come to expect from LUSH, this is definitely a strong one.
On the major down side, I wore this on the day I was scheduled for a loooong car ride across state lines with my s/o and he continuously complained about how bad this perfume stunk to him 🙄. He claimed that it smelled "manly" despite it being a predominantly floral scent (which I personally highly disagree with). However, I could definitely see this being able to pass as unisex.
@QueenMarceline I'm loving seeing these old Lush perfume bottles 🙂
Yesterday, I tried the KILIAN Paris Black Phantom - "Memento Mori" and the description on the product page is exactly how it smelled on my skin.
"This scent contains notes of rum accord from Martinique, akin to "pirates water," which spikes the scent of strong coffee at its heart, balanced by vetiver essence. A deadly bite of cyanide accord hides menacingly, like the smile from death itself. Sugar cane and dark creamy sandalwood notes also assure a trying journey holds a sweet reward.”
I don’t know much about fragrance and it’s descriptions but I got the sandalwood, coffee, vetiver, and rum. It had a sharp note mellowed out by a sweetness and smoothness at the base. I liked it but I think I would like it even more on a man if that makes sense. Definitely unisex, though. It reminded me of putting on something sexy with a red lip, going out for drinks to a speakeasy-type bar, and ordering an old-fashioned.
@makeitup305 - Your review is great and makes perfect sense! 🙂 This sounds like one I'd like to try. 💖💖💖
@makeitup305 That definitely makes sense, I have some perfumes that I genuinely enjoy but would prefer on a man. Thanks for the great review of this brand I've been eyeing 🙂
On Christmas Day (and the following few days after) I re-tried the original Marc Jacobs Beauty Daisy Eau de Toilette with White Florals & Sandalwood I used to own this perfume but when I ran out of a second (or maybe third) small bottle I stopped repurchasing it some time ago. While going through all my samples and minis I realized I had a lot of these laying around and I forgot why I stopped buying this perfume in the bottle size (but I knew there had to be a reason because I am a certified fragrance freak). I brought this cute little mini I had laying around on my trip and really went in on trying to figure out the mystery of the missing Marc Jacobs Daisy classic scent purchases.
My Thoughts After Wearing It For a Few Days: I genuinely like this perfume and can definitely see why I used to purchase it in a full-sized bottle. Although, I must say the scent is a bit outdated (to me) not in the sense that it is mature-but, in the sense that it was so popular for so long that it's definitely not a fragrance that draws massive attention by being particularly unique, fresh, exciting or new. That being said, I enjoyed it and how it mixed with my chemistry. The notes I initially pick up are floral, a bit of alcohol and citrus when I apply this to my skin. After it settles in and mixes with my skin chemistry it carries over a beautiful violet scent. Bingo, this is why I purchased a bottle many times in the past-that lovely violet note. The first day when I initially landed back on the violet note I thought: maybe I should repurchase a little bottle of this. But shortly after I unfortunately got reminded why I stopped buying this despite genuinely liking it-this scent does not last (at least not on me). Not even half-way through Christmas I found myself reapplying because I could not smell it at all. This time I also reapplied a healthy amount of my wrists in order to be able to further test the staying power. A few hours later, nothing. Not off my clothes, not on the wrists. It somehow disappears. Most scents even the short-lasting ones sort of "fade-out" where you can faintly still smell them but you're simply disappointed in the intense drop of power within the perfume. Daisy just disappears into thing air after ~4 hours, not a trace of her left. Bingo again, this is why I stopped purchasing this bottle. Despite liking the scent, this simply just does not last and it's not a unique enough scent to justify to myself buying amongst all the perfume I already own (and still have in my wish list). I will continue using my minis when I really crave this lovely violet scent but I'll be making sure to pack the mini with me while I'm on the go so that I can re-apply (because I know I'll have to). 😁
