Do you have a box full of perfume vials and/or a vanity covered in perfume bottles? Are you the Goldilocks of perfume, just looking for the perfect signature scent? Do you want an opportunity to post daily about how your perfume of the day smells oaky and smoky with hints of blackberry and currant, like a cigar in a whisky barrel rolling through a Mediterranean orchard on a breezy summer morning?
If you answered yes to any of the above, or you just want to hop on board for the ride, join us for a 31 days of perfume challenge starting January 1st! Some of us from the 25 days of lipstick challenge wanted to continue the fun and exploration, and since many of us have so many perfume samples, we thought this challenge would be perfect. If you don't have 31 perfumes or hate everything that doesn't smell like Meyer lemons and fresh goat cream, that's fine--we're just aiming to use the neglected perfumes we have laying around and incorporate them into our perfume rotations.
And if you want more perfume vials, there's no better time than now to take a peek at Sephora's samples section.
Edit: Anyone can join in at anytime! We're here to support, live vicariously through, and encourage everyone in their olfactory adventures!
@Anonymous My family will complain, however, if I wear Angel by Thierry Mugler. It smells positively wretched on me! 😄 The family is quite opinionated about my perfume, lol!
Love Chloe. I agree with you 100%, it's a really good one to fall back on.
Day 12: Lancome La Vie Est Belle.
This is one of my favorites. It's just the right blend of floral, sweet, musky. It's comforting, which I needed this morning because I woke up in a mood.
Day 12 - used an old standby today - Victoria Secret Noir Tease after my trial and (lots of) error yesterday.
To my nose, it's very similar to D&G Pour Femme which is something I also love. Just cozy, sweet, maybe slightly floral.
Day 12: Etat Libre D'Orange Fat Electrician
My notes - In my heart of heats I wanted this to smell like an electrically charged donut. It doesn't. Maybe a little too masculine for me, kind of boring but comforting.
Real notes - Vetiver, Chesnut Cream, Olive Leaves.
Day 12: See by Chloe (rollerball)
I've had this one for a while and always forget how much I like it.
Notes: Jasmine, Ylang Ylang, Vanilla, Musk
Day 12, Le Labo The Noir
Woody and fruity tea. Some Fig.
Beautiful scent. Very cozy.
Just not in the mood for it. I like it on me and will try it again later.
Day 12: Panorama by Olfactive Studio. Opens with a really bright citrus scent, which dissipates within a few seconds into a really incensy...pine scent. Right now, about an hour in, it has dried down into a sweet grass scent with a slight floral and slight spice.
I'm not sure I really like this. I hate the citrus and incensy pine scent. I don't like the smell of grass, but I am getting a little more depth than I was 10 minutes ago, which is interesting,
This whole only being able to smell with one nostril thing is getting really old.
Wasabi Accord, Fig Leaf, Bamboo Leaf, Bergamot, Lemon, Galbanum, Cardamom, Violet Leaf, Fresh Cut Grass, Myrrhe Absolute, Fir Balsam, Patchouli, Tonka Bean, Vanilla, Musks, Labdanum
Day 12: coach Poppy Blossom
It opens with notes of litchi, mara strawberry, mandarin and freesia. The heart is made of lily of the valley, Centifolia rose, tuberose, gardenia and Sambac jasmine. The base notes are praline, vanilla, blonde woods and musk.
Day 12 - Katy Perry Killer Queen
I was confused at first, this smells almost exactly like V&R Flowerbomb. I still get whiffs of it here and there that make me think it's Flowerbomb, but the lasting power and sillage is quite poor. I have on 3 spritzes from the vial and it's weaker than one spray of Flowerbomb.
The notes seem to be very different (patchouli and bergamot are common notes though), so I'm surprised they smell similar. Could be my unsophisticated nose too!
Might be good for those looking for a cheaper alternative, but since I have a full size bottle of Flowerbomb already plus a couple of travel sprays, I won't need this!
Other notes: Praline, plum, frangipani, jasmine sambac, forest fruits
Day 12: Nest Citrine. I love this one. I think it smells like a delicious, refreshing cocktail with lemon and gin, like a Tom Collins or Bee's Knees.
Notes:
Lemon Blossom, Lotus Flower, Freesia, Dew Drop Accord, Precious Woods.
I like this one!
Day 12: Armani - Acqua Di Gio Pour Homme
Notes: Marine Notes, Mandarin, Bergamot, Neroli, Persimmon, Rosemary, Nasturtium, Jasmine, Amber, Patchouli, Cistus
Compiled
Day 11: Cartier – Vetiver Bleu
Day 10: Atelier - Sud Magnolia
Day 9: Dolce & Gabbana – Light Blue
Day 8: Escada – Joyful
Day 7: Escada – Born in Paradise
Day 6: Moschino – Moschino Fresh Couture
Day 5: Chanel - No. 5 L'eau
Day 4: Elizabeth & James - Nirvana Bourbon
Day 3: YSL - Black Opium
Day 2: Pacifica - Tunisian Jasmine Lime
Day 1: Juliette Has a Gun - Not a Perfume
Day 12:
Derek Lam 10 Crosby Ellipsis:
Notes:
Australian Sandalwood, Jasmine.
Style:
Modern. Feminine. Romantic.
"Evening on Crosby Street. Their eyes meet. What could happen in the ellipsis between… An anything-is-possible blend of warm sandalwood and jasmine that results in something entirely modern and feminine. "
"There are so many great moments when I see a girl walking down the street and she’s super stylish and very inspiring. Crosby Street is so unique—it’s one of my favorite in New York City."—Derek Lam
Day 12: aerin amber musk
i really like this! The musk is definitely the dominant note, but I can smell the rose too. I need to wear this more often!
This sounds amazing! I didnt mind the Ikat Jasmine fragrance by Aerin, and I love a good rose with a musk base..definitely going to try this, thank you
This sounds good!
Day Twelve: Frederic Malle's La Parfum de Therese
A mature, sophisticated scent. There is so much going on: bright citrus, fleshy melon, plush florals with a touch of indolic jasmine, etc. It's complex yet feels effortless.
I once heard FM describe one of his fragrances as Photoshopped and I thihnk this applies to the whole house. The scents have a pristine quality and even the heavier, rougher ones have space or breathing room between the notes.
I have this! Excited to try. 🙂
Definitely recommended! I didn't "get" it at first and it's not an instant crowdpleaser, but I recommend giving it a little time as it's worth it 🙂
Day 11: Prada Candy
Why...Does this scent bore me. I think I just expect it to be much more exciting, and it's relatively typical.
