Do you have a box full of perfume vials and/or a vanity covered in perfume bottles? Are you the Goldilocks of perfume, just looking for the perfect signature scent? Do you want an opportunity to post daily about how your perfume of the day smells oaky and smoky with hints of blackberry and currant, like a cigar in a whisky barrel rolling through a Mediterranean orchard on a breezy summer morning?
If you answered yes to any of the above, or you just want to hop on board for the ride, join us for a 31 days of perfume challenge starting January 1st! Some of us from the 25 days of lipstick challenge wanted to continue the fun and exploration, and since many of us have so many perfume samples, we thought this challenge would be perfect. If you don't have 31 perfumes or hate everything that doesn't smell like Meyer lemons and fresh goat cream, that's fine--we're just aiming to use the neglected perfumes we have laying around and incorporate them into our perfume rotations.
And if you want more perfume vials, there's no better time than now to take a peek at Sephora's samples section.
Edit: Anyone can join in at anytime! We're here to support, live vicariously through, and encourage everyone in their olfactory adventures!
Day Thirteen: Serge Luten's La Fille de Berlin
I don't usually like rose scents so I can't see myself wearing this too often. I also don't find it as animalistic as others have described. It is however, a beautiful dark rose with the mysterious and spicy richness that characterizes many of SL's fragrances so if you enjoy his other fragrances, I'd give this a try!
Day 13: Atelier Cologne – Figuier Ardent
Notes: Calabrian Bergamot, Anise, Cardamom, Fig Leaf, Salty Fig, Pepper, Virginian Cedarwood, Tuscan Iris, Tonka Bean
This stinks! I thought I got rid of it--obviously not! The only good thing about it is the teal-colored label that matches the teal-colored sweater I'm wearing, which is why I chose this scent today. 😄
Day 12: Acqua Di Gio Pour Homme
Day 11: Cartier – Vetiver Bleu
Day 10: Atelier - Sud Magnolia
Day 9: Dolce & Gabbana – Light Blue
Day 8: Escada – Joyful
Day 7: Escada – Born in Paradise
Day 6: Moschino – Moschino Fresh Couture
Day 5: Chanel - No. 5 L'eau
Day 4: Elizabeth & James - Nirvana Bourbon
Day 3: YSL - Black Opium
Day 2: Pacifica - Tunisian Jasmine Lime
Day 1: Juliette Has a Gun - Not a Perfume
Day 12 E and J Nirvana Bourbon (sample vial)
Sweet and lovely, doesn't last the longest on me but I like it even though it's quite simple, sometimes you just need a sweet reliable scent.
Day 13 Tokyomilk Dark Tainted Love 62 (sample vial)
Woodsy, vanilla, intriguing. It's not like anything I've had on my skin before, I keep discovering new things in the dry down. Changed a lot since initially spraying. I'm fascinated by it! The citrus is completely gone but warm woodsyness remains.
day 13
Paco RabanneOlympéa
Notes:
Green Mandarin, Ginger Lily, Hydroponic Jasmine, Salted Vanilla, Sandalwood, Ambergris.
This sounds lovely!
@txcatx @WhereYouStand I adore Olympea. Addicted!
Day 13 - Escada Joyful
Notes:
Blackcurrant Sorbet, Melon, Mandarin, Violet leaves, Pink Peony, Dewy Magnolia, Nectarine, Honeycomb, Florymoss, Sandalwood.
I told my son to go pick something he liked one day in Sephora (partly so I could peruse by myself) and this is what he picked out. I got a sample to take home. I like it, but I think I like their Turquoise Summer one better.
I like this one.
Day 13: Chanel Allure.
Notes:
Bergamot, mandarin orange, peach, cedar, vanilla, rose, jasmine, peony, magnolia, orange blossom, lotus, vetiver
This is a favorite of mine! I prefer to wear it in the fall and winter. It is very long lasting.
Day 13- Versace bright crystal.I don't really care for this one.
Day 13: Margaux by Tocca.
Tocca tends to put out a lot more light and flowery type fragrances and this one kind of walks off the beaten Tocca path by being more musky and woodsy than their normal offerings. There's still floral and powder, but not in an over-powering way that instantly makes me think of those notes. There's also vanilla, which tends to wrap it all up quite nicely.
Day 13: ELd'O Remarkable People
My notes - This smells vaguely like a perfume my mom wore in the 90's plus clementines. The dry down is really nice. It smells so familiar but I just can't place it!
Real notes - Grapefruit, Champagne Accord, Cardamom, Jasmine, Curry Je, Black Pepper, Labdanum, Sandalwood, Lorenox.
Day 13 - Juliette Has a Gun Vengeance Extreme
This reminds me a lot of Pinrose Pinrose! I'm smelling the dry down now and I keep getting whiffs of Pinrose. They both have rose and vanilla notes but that's about all that's the same. The warmth and spice comes from the clove and ambergris in Pinrose, while the JHaG must get its warmth from the white musk, ambroxan and Tonka bean. I believe Vengeance Extreme is more musky, and the Pinrose is less complex and more spicy. Either way, I like both. I'm shocked, because when I first got my JHaG sampler, I thought Vengeance Extreme is too strong and old lady like. How my tastes have changed even if I my preferences are still florals!
Mentioned notes: Rose, vanilla, white musk, Tonka bean, ambroxan
Other notes in Vengeance Extreme: Bergamot, lavender, patchouli (I don't detect these 3 at all, but then again, what do I know?), Labdanum
Day 13: DKNY Be Delicious. I think I might be growing up! This smells like exactly the kind of scent I would have loved as a teenager, and I do like it still. Nowadays, I'm into more complex, interesting fragrances. It's kind of like how my taste buds went from enjoying only rosé and Riesling to appreciating syrah.
Notes:
American Apple, Cucumber, Grapefruit, Candid Magnolia, Tuberose, White Muguet, Rose, Violet, Sandalwood, Tender Skin Accord, Blonde Woods, White Amber.
Day 13: Honey Oud by Floris.
This starts off really lovely with a very rich fruity honey scent - like ambrosia or a mead. Really yummy for a few seconds, before turning into an awful stank :/. Some weird sour oud - I get some baby powder too. It is super weird!
That does dissipate after about an hour before it dries down and really just smells like honey and smokey oud. If you can make it through that first hour, it can be quite enjoyable after lol.
Bergamot, honey, oud, patchouli, rose, amber, labdanum, musk, vanilla
oooooh, Honey Oud, neeeeeeed!!!!
Day 13:Jo Malone Orris and Sandalwood. I initially thought that it would be too fresh for my liking, but tried it anyway. It wore down to a nice woody scent on me. i like it!
Verdict: Would have to try it a couple more times to see if I would invest in a bottle. If I did go ahead, it would be a small bottle.
Day 13: Jo Malone peony and blush suede
I am not a big fan of floral fragrances, but sometimes they work for me if there is a more masculine element as well. This one is way too floral, and instantly gave me a headache. I ended up washing it off as much as I could with in the first hour of putting it on.
I am back! lol!! Like a true holiday. What day is it??? lol!!
I fell off the wagon by wearing my ‘everyday safe-scent’ Florabotanica, but here are some I wore since last posted.
This stuff….I could just pickled myself with it!!!! I love my rose scents! The beguiling lament of the desert. Armani Privé Rose D’arabie showcases the Damask Rose. The bottles are so pretty! I want the entire collection.
TOKYOMILK Tainted Love
This is my DS from the Promo. We have transitioned from the desert to dessert. Ummm, Creme Brûlée!
Notes: Dark Vanilla Bean, Sparkling Citrus, Orchid, White Tea, Sandalwood, Tonka Bean.
Style: Inquisitive. Dramatic. Darling.
Atelier Vetiver Fatal
This one I have to be in the mood for, but when I wear it I enjoy it very much!
Top Notes: Calabrian bergamot, Sicilian lemon, Bitter orange
Heart Notes: Tunisian orange flower, Violet leaf, Black plum
Base notes: Haitian vetiver, Texan cedarwood, Oud
Now I want to try the Armani!
