micellar water stinging my eyes

I was using garnier micellar water and it was just fine. but wanted to try a higher end product for a quick eye makeup remover. the Sephora Original micellar water stings my eyes for hours after I use it. does anyone have any micellar waters that are sensitive on the eyes? I use Farmacy green clean and Farmacy gentle daily exfoliater cleanser for my face.

@valie777 I've read that micellar products really do need to be rinsed off due to the surfactants.  Maybe rinsing would help, or even cleansing with your usual cleanser?  I rec checking beautypedia for the best ones.  They rec'd Garnier and I tried it and didn't have any issues.  I ended up sticking with my usual products, though, b/c I preferred them.  Good luck!  🙂

RE: micellar water stinging my eyes

I have not tried this yet, but I was just in Ulta and I saw that Cerave now makes a micellar cleanser. I love all things Cerave, I find them very gentle on the skin. So I wonder if this may work for you. The best part is you can buy it at the drugstore. I have been using the Sephora micellar water but I know what you mean about it stinging, although it only does for a second for me. Like the other poster, I also like cleansing balms and oils as a first step in facial cleansing. I just ordered a cleansing balm off Amazon called Clean It Zero Purity by Banila Co. It’s supposedly meant for sensitive skin. I also like the Josie Maran cleansing oil.

Re: RE: micellar water stinging my eyes

The Cerave one stings like the Dickens!  Don't use it!  I also first tried with Garnier which was fine, but wanted to try some others.  The Cerave one stings fiercely and the feeling lasts.  If you want a drugstore Micellar water with minimal ingredients, try Simple (I also like the Simple cleansing oil with grapeseed oil).

Re: micellar water stinging my eyes

I used to have this problem with just about any micellar water I tried (Garnier, L'Oreal, Sephora and Ulta). In the end I switched to cleansing oil or balm and these worked fine so far. They dissolve waterproof makeup as well as micellar water and are far more gentle. However I am about to try Clinique Take the Day Off eye makeup remover and see what my luck will be with that. Their Take the Day Off cleansing balm works great and I hope liquid makeup remover will do the same.
