@Sabah55 tarte Maneater has been the only mascara that my husband has commented about. When he first saw me wear it, I was told how great my eyes looked. Usually he doesn’t comment on a specific part of my looks. It really makes my lashes stand out!!

@nikki9362 Is it a vein? Sometimes veins can be very visible under the eyes. The only non-invasive fix for that is concealer and/or a color corrector. Or, is it a shadow? Sit in front of a mirror and aim a flashlight (or mini ring light, or whatever) at your face. Move the light around. Does the "line" disappear when the light's held at certain angles? If yes, it might just be a shadow. Undereye shadows are often caused by sunken skin; many of us have "hollow tear troughs," or sunken skin beneath the inner corners of our eyes, and that's where we get undereye darkness. Besides color corrector and/or concealer, you can talk to a doctor about dermal filler to plump up that skin which should reduce or remove the shadow. Note that some doctors don't like to inject filler around the eyes, and the procedure's not permanent. If the dark "line" didn't disappear when you moved the light around your face in front of a mirror, then it might be hyperpigmentation caused one of these 2 things: UV damage (too much sun exposure) - you can try to reverse this type of undereye darkness with a low-strength retinol and/or a fairly gentle chemical exfoliant (PHA, or even an AHA like lactic acid or mandelic acid). Consider something like The INKEY List Retinol Eye Cream 0.5 oz/ 15 mL which should be gentle enough to use around the eyes and doesn't cost much. A few exfoliants to consider are The INKEY List Polyhydroxy Acid (PHA) Gentle Exfoliating Toner 3.4 oz/ 100 mL , The Ordinary Lactic Acid 5% + HA 1 oz/ 30 mL , or The Ordinary Mandelic Acid 10% + HA 1 oz/ 30 mL —but don't use any of those every single day. Use it no more than 3 times a week. Genetics - if other people in your family have dark undereyes, it might be hereditary. You'll need to go the color corrector and/or concealer route in this case. Do you use a broad spectrum sunscreen (at least SPF 30) on ALL skin exposed to sunlight—including your eye area, whether or not you also wear sunglasses—all year long, regardless of weather or season? That'll help protect your skin from UV damage. We should all wear sunscreen daily anyway, but especially if we also use an AHA (lactic acid, mandelic acid, glycolic acid, etc.) because AHAs increase skin's sun sensitivity. Also: if in doubt, you can always consult your primary care doctor or a board certified dermatologist for a proper diagnosis and personalized treatment options.
