I give up on undereye concealer - the creases look worse than the dark under eyes

I feel like I’ve tried everything & I think it’s just better if I stop trying to make concealer work. I use eye moisturizer and I let that sit as much as possible. I’ve tried less creamy eye moisturizers. I’ve tried Smashbox’s undereye primer and that just seems to pill/gum up I’ve tried the Nars creamy concealer. I’ve tried the Nars soft matte. I’ve tried under foundation. I’ve tried over foundation. I’ve tried Laura Mercier setting powder (applied with a damp sponge and also tried just sweeping with a brush) I. GIVE. UP.

I think we all start off expecting concealer to do too much on its own.  You want to keep the makeup under your eyes as light as possible.

First it helps to start off with a good undereye cream to plump up the under eye area.

Second, I presume your undereye area is a blue/purple color?  Using a light layer of a salmon shade over the darkness will neutralize the darkness.  You can then apply a small amount of concealer over the salmon shade with a beauty blender always in a patting motion so not to disturb the layer underneath.  Wait a minute or so before patting any creasing that occurs again with the beauty blender and then set immediately with a translucent powder if you feel it’s necessary. You can get away with not using a powder by patting the concealer until it is dry.   You want to keep the powder light if you’re using it.

Less makeup =less creasing

Hopefully this helps:) @emily8880

Hello, i use, benefit airbrush concealer, however my Go to favorite is the make up forever concealer. Makeup forever i let it set ( no powder) basically i let it dry and then I stretch the bottom cheek area near cheek bone down and then i use my concealer brush and remove any creasing that may be happening. With time i learned to use hydration serum just to keep my skin fresh. I hope this helps

Boy do I feel your pain--completely in the same boat.  I've tried it all and the absolute worst was using powder!  I think that is for young people with perfectly smooth or oily skin.  Looked absolutely horrible on me.  My last ditch attempt will be to try a hydrating foundation in a slightly lighter shade used as a concealer.  It has to be better than nothing which is the only other option I see as well.  We put a man on the moon but can't seem to create a flattering concealer for mature skin, ugh.

What I like to do for under my eyes after putting primer on is, Use urban decay color corrector in pink (my shade obviously ) Then I put my naked foundation from urban decay and finish off with urban decay concealer Tbh I’ve always loved Urban Decay and it’s my go to brand it makes everything look cleaner (I have freckles and urban decay always hides everything lmao)

I usually use a green correction cream to remove the circles then add a little bit of concealer afterwards. The correction cream works amazing! I’ve always used the green or the lighter pink but it all depends on your skin tone. Hope this helps!!

Green corrects redness

purple corrects yellowness

salmon corrects blue and purple

pink brightens dull cool toned skin

yellow brightens dull warm toned skin

I have the same problem! I found that without foundation and concealer I look much younger than with them. Still figuring out how to deal with it.

I have the same problem here! I got a sample size of the Kiehl's Powerful-Strength Line Reducing Concentrate a few months ago and it has been a COMPLETE game changer! The full size is expensive, but it has seriously stopped the creasing, pilling, and cakiness under my eyes and anywhere I have fine lines! A little goes a long way and I think it's worth a try!

RE: I give up on undereye concealer - the creases look worse than the dark under eyes

I have dark, dry under eyes that always crease, I avoid putting foundation under my eyes and use the born this way concealer and then set it with the LM translucent powder using a damp beauty blender, not too much powder though, and just dab until all the powder is gone, I never bake.

Re: I give up on undereye concealer - the creases look worse than the dark under eyes

People say to use setting powder, but if I add powder, concealer looks horrendous on me.  Even a little bit dries out my undereyes and shows fine lines like crazy.

What I've found to work is using a very hydrating concealer (like Maybelline Age Rewind or BareMinerals Serum), and I look at where the most texture is on my under eyes and avoid that area.  For me, I have the most texture near my tear duct and the closer I get to my lash line.  My dark circles are further down, so I keep my concealer low, and avoid getting product further up where my texture is.

I just started doing this and I feel it helps, I have dark circles and wrinkles. I use UD primer potion in Eden, under my eyes and on my lids too, it primes and conceals since its tinted, its not thick either. Then I apply my foundation over it.

I use bye bye under-eye by It cosmetics or Benefit erase paste. I hope you find something!

I’ve never heard anyone else do this so I may be crazy, but I had the same problem and here’s how I deal with it. Have you ever heard of Benefit Porefessional? It is a primer that fills in pores and makes you look blurred to perfection. I have really bad smile lines, so I tried it on those and it worked, so I figured it may work on my under eye area, too! I am only 22, but I have wrinkles/noticeable creases under my eyes. My concealer sets into them regardless of what I do, I’ve tried every trick out there and the Porefessional trick works great. It fills in those wrinkles/creases all day. I have dry skin and Porefessional is a mattifying product, so I do make sure to put on eye cream first and let it soak in. I then put on the Porefessional over my creases, then I use Estée Lauder Double Wear concealer, sometimes other concealers, this works with all of them so far. I then set with Too Faced Born This Way powder and I am good to go!

I totally agree, also tried many primers, concealers,powd...

I totally agree, also tried many primers, concealers, powders, but benefit porefessional is amazing!

I agree, I love it!! I don’t think people think to put it on the under eye area a lot but it really works well for that 😍

Re: I give up on undereye concealer - the creases look worse than the dark under eyes

Try Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concaler. There is a learning curve to it and it does need to be set (I use LM) but it’s the only concealer I’ve ever used that doesn’t really crease. Less is more, it’s very creamy and doesn’t dry down like typical concealers (NARS, Shapetape) so setting it with a tiny bit of setting powder is key. It’s medium to full coverage and if you notice a bit of creasing throughout the day, if you lightly tap it wth your finger, it smooths out very well. I’ve tried them all and I always go back to this and wonder why I ever stray.

do you bake when you use it with the damp sponge...like using an obscene amount of LM powder then waiting a couple of mins then brush off? I've tried that once and it looked terrible. Now, I still use the damp sponge to dip into the LM powder..but I make sure to tap of the excess powder before applying. then I just press it on until the powder has completely disappeared and melded together. done within seconds. oh I forgot.. when I blend out my concealer, I don't set right away. I let it sit there while I do my brows. Then I come back..normally some extra product settles in this line under my eyes. I take my sponge to just get rid of that then I set. I find it helps..I also don't slab on a ton of concealer. I just do about 3-4 dots. give it another go. don't give up! 😊

i had the same problem for the longest time. what i find works is really working the product into where it creases under your eyes the most. i also use an under eye cream that’s for darkness and that’s really helped because it made my under eye really nice for concealer. Baking also helped me.
