Employee Complaint - Union Store Location

Went to the Sephora at Union Square today to exchange a product. The employee that assisted me did check if the product was there but it wasn’t, so I told her that it is okay and I appreciate it. She then wants to proceed by telling me “do you need skincare” and I said replied with “no”. She says “are you sure?” and judges my face. I do not have the clearest skin and have been struggling with acne — but was my acne horrible? No. I don’t appreciate rude comments like this, because you never know what someone is going through. I actively go to the dermatologist and do not need help with skincare if I did not ask so.

In my opinion, it’s rude to ask that if I did not ask about skincare or any other help. It makes me uncomfortable to even step into Sephora if I’m going to be judged by my acne or scars.

Update: The employee was an employee for a specific brand carried at Sephora (a skincare brand). If this is the case, I still believe you should not push skincare for someone who did not ask and be judgmental scanning my face. There’s other ways to approach skincare on someone so I still do not appreciate it.

Re: Employee Complaint - Union Store Location

Hi @simopium,

I'm so sorry for this experience. We never want our clients to feel this way and appreciate you letting us know about this. I'll send you a message shortly.

Best regards,

Laurie
