How do I figure out what my hair needs

I’ve been struggling with my hair for the last year now and I can’t find out what it needs to hold the curls. Please help

@orange4321 Some people use a mousse, like Moroccanoil Curl Control Mousse 5.1 oz/ 150 mL  although mousse has never worked for me.  Some people can get by with just a curl cream, like Moroccanoil Curl Defining Cream . I like a curl cream but I can’t use it alone, I need to use a gel on top of the curl cream, like amika Curl Corps Curl Enhancing Hair Gel 6.7 oz/ 200 mL  or Living Proof Curl Defining Gel 5 oz/ 148 mL.
