Curls & waves

Hi! New to the group - didn’t know this existed!! Game changer! So I have a mixture of curls ‘kinds’ ... the bottom 3/4’s of my

hair is curly (don’t ask what type, I have no idea - I’m so out of the loop

on curls😩), but the top layer - of course the part’s MOST seen - is more of a wave. Is there anything that can help even out my curls? Also, my hair is ... frizzy ... and course. I’ve always battled with it b/c of how it feels - is there anything to make it feel not as course - I want pretty, SOFT curls. 
right now I use Ouai’s leave in hair conditioner. It’s the only that that makes my hair look decent. The. I go & individually curl my top layer of lazy curls (my wavy hair). I just bought Ouai’s shampoo/conditioner line b/c I heard wonders about it. Let me know what you think - any tips would be amazing.

I have the same sort of thing. My hair gets curlier further down. I definitely find that if I put a shaping cream in, it helps, and shaping my curls when they're wet also is a simple wonder! I put Moroccanoil Curl Defining Cream  in my damp hair, and then just scrunch it up to help it shape!
