Seeing threads for lots of other lovely brands, with my love for YSL growing, I found it only fitting to start a YSL Love / Updates thread (if I missed an existing one, please let me know)!
Please feel free to share any updates about the brand, reviews, YSL looks, or general love you feel like sharing 🙂

HOLIDAY 2016 PREVIEW
@Milou07thank you so very much for taking the time to do this! the formula seems very interesting - i will check out the other shades in store!
I would love swatches! I've really been trying to wait until Sephora gets them. But I may not be able to hold out much longer.
I personally prefer the shine formula. I only have one sheer candy but it is very drying on my lips for some reason. However if your looking for sheer and moisturizing I dont think you can do better than the tint in oil. They are just amazing.
I like Volupte shine slightly better but it depends on the look you want. The sheer candy are a little sheer for the price to me...but everyone is looking for something different.
I'm a big fan of the VS except for my red..which bleeds a bit. The lighter colors don't (on me).
thanks meganlisa! I'll keep that in mind. I have pigmented lips so perhaps the sheer versions would end up being too sheer - we'll see.
@geekbeauty I would love to hear your thoughts once you try them out!
@geekbeauty My first YSL purchase was also a glossy stain - Encre Rose. IT was the perfect bubble gum pink, and I remember it being surprisingly hydrating for what it was (kind of a precursor to all of these liquid lippies). I haven't tried the pop water formula! I'm starting to explore more tinted formulas than opaque, so I'll definitely have to check it out!
I highly suggest trying the pop water formula, I really prefer it over the regular glossy stain. They aren't as opaque but very build able and for some reason last much longer on me.
@SprytelyOh thanks! No, they weren't on my radar but I will look into them! Do you have any opinions on the Volupte Shine vs the Sheer Candy?
I've only tried one of each and didn't think they lasted long enough to be worth it. I don't think either made it to the hour mark for me. Granted, I am constantly drinking from my water bottle...
@Sprytely Thanks - that helps actually. I am very attached to my water bottle as well. I'll stop looking into these, then. I am looking for something that's hydrating, but lasts for some time at least. Also, not a looking for a full-on lipstick (kinda hard to pull off in grad school esp in STEM where NO ONE dresses up). That's why the Water Stains really worked for me. 🙂 If you, as a regular water-sipper, have some other options (from any brand) that did work, pl share them with me!
Well, I was going to make a recommendation but it looks like it's been discontinued so now I'm grumpy. LOL.
So, back to the tint-in-oils.
Or a stain--I like the Benefit stains, but I know I'm in the minority there--and then a tinted balm for moisture and color reapplication throughout the day. (But, as mentioned above, my tinted balms appear to be discontinued soooo...)
oh, bummer! i hate when they discontinue favorites! i'll check out the tint-in-oils in that case. In terms of tinted balms, I tried a Fresh one once but **bleep** it's so soft! It actually ended up melting over summer and applies really weirdly ever since. I've given up on them although every time I go to Sephora, I can't help eyeing the nice colors! 🙂
I'm also looking into the Marc Jacobs Nude Gel lipsticks and the Armani Rouge Ecstasy - sounds like they are both quite hydrating and don't look like full-on lipsticks, so I'll check those out as well.
I would say the Shine and the Sheer Candy are about the same in their longevity, which is to say not the longest ever, maaaaaybe a couple of hours. the Shines are more pigmented and stain a little more, so they'll stick around a little longer I'd say.
@taylorrness: thank you! how hydrating do you find each of them?
@geekbeauty they're pretty comparable. I find that the Sheer Candy is a little more hydrating for me!
