Velvet Story Lip Cream: Hourglass Velvet Story Lip Cream
Ahhhh, thank you, @Lazybeautybeastπ
@Lazybeautybeast I had it in my basket and it disappeared. Looks like it went OOS π
Is there already news of the F&F sale? I couldnβt find it.
@Lazybeautybeast what F&F sale? On the hourglass website?
No Sephora's F&F sale is coming up. @makeitup305
@Lazybeautybeast oh that's right. I don't know anybody that works there personally so I'm gonna miss out on that one. I just bought the Unlocked full price ( :'( so that one will definitely tide me over!
so there will be ambient edit lighting 4 ? why did i rush to buy the edit unlocked then π
thoughts? holiday2018
new one looks like pink casing
2017 holiday palette rose gold
I want this, but I need to swatch/see proper swatches before purchasing! Not sure it will be suitable for my skin tone.
I wish instead of releasing two similar palettes they created one each for lighter and darker skin tones (and tan skintones too!!). I always wanted one and felt like some of the colours would not work on me and therefore not make the palette worth it. I've been looking for a face palette for my 'tan' skintone with at least a bronzer, blush and highlighter so if anyone has a recommendation I'm all ears.
@Aaliaa, yes, I agree!! Thank you! I feel like Unlocked is meant for Medium/Tan tones, but the bronzer still looks like it won't show up on my skin.
hi @curlychiquita you have to build up the bronzer and its nice , one of my tricks is to contour lightly and top with this bronzer in the unlocked palette
@Aaliaa, @txcatx I couldn't resist the Ambient Unlocked so I picked it up from Cult Beauty and I love it. Value-wise, I know Temptalia always makes the argument that these holiday palettes are fairly overpriced for the amount of physical product, but that never bothers me if they're all unique (to me) shades and I'm an Hourglass junkie. The plummy blush plus the two unique finishing powders sealed the deal for me, plum gets me EVERY TIME!
I'd offer up swatches but I feel like Hourglass never swatches well or true to finish. That being said, I think my skintone falls somewhere between the two of yours, depending on the season. My winter color is GA Luminous Silk 5 to 5.5/Nars Punjab, Light to light/Medium, and summer color is firmly medium to medium/tan, GA Luminous Silk 6.5. Right now, the finishing powders work beautifully on my current color (let's call it firmly medium), they simply melt into my skin and I'm in love!
The two blushes and bronzer are very pretty, that plum is perfection, but if I'm going to be honest, I'd be surprised if the bronzer or the lighter pink/orgasm-esque blush showed up on anyone a shade darker than me. The bronzer has a gorgeous gold sheen to it, but it applies pretty sheer (though build-able) on me. Important note, I use very very soft/natural hair brushes for these type of powders, so everything applies quite diffuse. The strobe highlighter is to die for though, classy champagne glow for days!
I'm fairly certain the entire palette will still work for me in my winter tone but if you're light with cool or neutral undertones, the finishing powders might end up being too dark. Overall, I'm a fan AND there's a bunny on the logo, so really, I love it π
If you're on the fence about two or more of the colors, I'd probably pass (as I have for the previous few holiday palettes) as $80.00 is pretty, pretty, pretty pricey.
@MissPuff I swatched this in store and it is super pretty. I want it but the poor value stops me. But heck, I buy Tom Ford didnβt I ππ€£
@blackkitty2014 The $80 is what holds me back every year, but I was super drawn to the colors this year and I had a Β£15 gift certificate so it felt a little better. If it was still around during the 20%, I would have picked it up for sure and I have never hit pan on a blush/bronzer/finishing powder (except my CT Airbrush, which I use almost use like a barely there foundation).
I've been wearing this pallet non-stop since I've gotten it and it's just really beautiful. Like all hourglass powders, it just does something magical on my face and the finish is heavenly, I feel like my skin/makeup looks extra posh π
I will pick it up for sure if itβs still around during Sephora sale. It is super pretty. I even like the #4 palette (I only have Dim Light that how I am behind in Hourglass) ππ€£ @MissPuff
Thank you so much for such a detailed review and perspective @MissPuff. I went into my local Sephora and swatched the palette and you are completely right, it just isn't dark enough for a Tan skintone. I think the palette should work for someone thats light-medium to medium but not darker then that. At Sephora my shade number is 2Y08 and I'm NC35-NC42 at MAC and the bronzer definitely didn't work for me. I also found the some shades quite shimmery, especially for Hourglass. I think it will work well for you but sadly not for me. Glad I didn't order it online as this would be a return for me. @curlychiquita @txcatx
hi @Aaliaa i am also NC42 in Mac and the 2017 and the Unlocked Edit works beautifully on my skin i always get compliment everytime i wear either of the palettes π§‘
