Thanks for the review, @MissPuff! I definitely have a light skin tone that leans neutral to warm, so going to wait to see the second palette. I got scared after reading Temptalia's thoughts on the shades in the Unlocked one! As for the blushes, one of the ones in the 2016 palette barely shows up in me, but I love mixing that one with a bit of the bronzer in the same palette. 

And yes, Temptalia always mentions the poor value of the Hourglass palettes, but I rarely hit pan on palettes before replacing them, so it doesn't bother me at all. I also think it's worth it to have that many quality powders in one palette.

@Aaliaa From reading reviews and thoughts both here and on Temptalia, I'm kind of wondering if that's what Hourglass was attempting to do with the Unlocked palette, and I'm assuming I should wait for the other palette, which might work better for lighter skin tones.

Here are some of Temptalia's thoughts:

"I am not fair (I’d classify myself as light-medium) but found that the second Ambient Lighting Powder darkened my complexion noticeably if used all-over, so it was more suitable as a bronzer on me, so I found that it was a palette that seemed most suitable for medium to medium deep skin tones."

Ohmigosh, you're so right! I usually forgive having a bunch of unusable shades because it's just one palette for all the people - but since they're doing two anyway, why not? I'd KILL for an Hourglass palette, but always turn them down because too many shades don't work for me 😞

I missed out on last years' edit 3 so this one is definitely calling my name. Plus that bronzer looks like diffused bronze light which have been on my wishlist for months!

@mztm I've been waiting for the other palette to come out before I decide which one to buy! I'm thinking I like the blush shades in the Unlocked palette more, but the marbling is so pretty on the other palette...

I only have the 2016 version, which I got in the Rewards Bazaar last year and use almost daily, so this feels kind of like choosing to upgrade to a new iPhone for me.

i got my HG palette but i have mix feelings about it, its def for med /tan skin but i love the blushes and highlighter of last years vol 3 more

I was hoping to see this in store today, but unfortunately, neither of the two stores close to me had this in stock. I use the Hourglass palette that I got from the Rewards Bazaar almost every day, and this palette is one of the only holiday release items that's really catching my eye.

I'm so tempted (like I am every year by the Hourglass palettes!) but I can't decide if I should take the plunge or not!  *hand hovers over the checkout button*

This is such a lovely palette. I think I will wait for the Ambient Lighting #4 palette as that one seems to speak to me more. I love that a small percentage goes to charity though!

It's up at CultBeauty in the UK too! I ordered mine from there since I had a gift card from the most recent GWP Goodie bag, plus a moderately favorable exchange rate, set me back a cool $55 🙂 SO EXCITED!
