Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

There's a TON of hype about it, the packaging has more of a cheap "test run" feel than I expected, and the quality of the actual products is not mind-blowing. Once you get beyond the glam of the launch and outer packaging, I can see how someone would feel let down, especially if they were really only excited about one or two pieces in the set.

I'm totally happy with mine though (I bought the nude). I specifically wanted all four items in the set, as I don't have anything remotely similar to any of them. The quality of the products isn't life changing, but it's good. I bought from Sephora so that I could return it if I was disappointed, but it turns out I really like it 🙂

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

Really? I really love the pink/nude. So much so that I'm considering purchasing a backup.

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

Do you have a favorite way of using it, Libellules? I'm somewhat highlighter-stunted so I'm still cautiously figuring out how this whole shebang is supposed to go! I'd love to hear about favorite looks you've created with this.

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

@frametheface I've worn it a few times now. Twice, I wore it with the new Sexual Content blush from NARS (I LOVE it). I just applied the blush, lightly blended the warm highlight shade from it. Then, I used the PM Balm I think it is highlight? The nude cream portion, not the clear one. on top of my cheek bones, and then brushed the pigment on when the given brush.

I wore it on Friday too. Similar method, but I used the bronzer from the TF Afternooner, and then TF Love Lust as actual blush. Using the PM highlighter, it looked like a really amped up version of the UD Fireball highlighter. I'm a fan :x.

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

Oh! That sounds lovely - thank you for sharing! I'll have to play a little more with seeing how I can get it to work with some of my blushes. I feel like the gold should play well with TF pink sand, with the lightly gold finish.

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

@frametheface That sounds like a really pretty idea! I haven't worn the gold yet, but in swatching - it had such a different finish from the pink/nude.

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

They are so different and I think you're right. It's absolutely the finish. I actually bought the nude thinking it'd be the hands down winner, but I'm finding that because of the gold finish in a lot of other products (TF fire lust, pink sand - a lot of summer collection items, I guess) it works really well to pull looks together. I've been having a little harder time with the nude although I think a lot of that is just everything I've been wearing recently has been more summer-warm inclined? Which is unusual for me. I typically favor cool tones (which is why I thought the nude would be my thing).

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

Don't forget! Releasing for everyone TOMORROW!!!

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

It finally went live and I was able to order both. Now I'll be able to see what the fuss is all about.

(I did swatch Golden at Sephora Union Square in NYC and it looked gorgeous. Can hardly wait to play!)

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

I've been trying to find pics on upcoming releases and found this... This is Pat's black eye gloss and it was given to people who attended Sephora Beauty Education Summit... so does that mean more products are coming to Sephora?

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

That Black Eye Gloss was part of the 002 release.  She released the pieces 002 separately on her website a few weeks ago -- which is what that packaging is.

I went to the event on Tuesday, and I asked her about future releases.  She has a lot more in store for us, but it will be gradual. Smiley Wink

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

@SuzeAlex I know it was previously released on her site 🙂  I just meant if people were given this at a Sephora event does that mean she will bring it back again (3rd time) and this time it will be sold via Sephora.

Good to know. Thanks!

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

I wish I knew.  I kind of hope not since I already have it, and I want more new things from her. Can't get enough.

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

Ok I got my golden kit today and omg it's beautiful.  I find that wearing the pigment on it's own as a highlighter looks kind of sparkly, but when I layer it over the balm, it looks perfect and like a fresh glow! Even my mom saw and was like OOO nice! I think the golden is more natural where the nude is not, however both are beautiful and I am 100% happy I got both!

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

Love how it looks on you! Love how gorgeous gold looks on your olive skin!!!! I got the gold kit too, but my skin is pretty light.. Hopefully it doesnt look too crazy tomorrow, when I get to play with it.

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

Hmmmmm now I wonder if I made a mistake buying this. It's looks very pretty on you Mocha, but for my pale skin I dunno....

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

I'm very fair, @niki172, and I've really liked both kits! I think a lot of it comes down to personal preference. The pigment in the nude kit won't really ever pass as natural, but if you use a really light touch I've found it super flattering (and a slightly heavier application for dramatic looks). The gold's pigment is a little more natural and I've really enjoyed pairing it with some of the summer stuff I've gotten that has little gold shimmery particles. It's a nice way to bring a look together - it just looks a little warmer, but not unnatural.

I think it'll really end up depending on what you want out of it and how you use it, but I wouldn't worry too much yet!

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

Ok, it's very pretty on you.  But I still like and don't love this product.  A little metallic for my personal taste. And the colors are just a little too showy.  Not that they aren't pretty and well made, as they are. Just not a love.

But it's very pretty on you!

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

This looks gorgeous on you! You look quite olive and I think the gold suits that! I'm also olive but more pale than you (I think we talked about this before, I forget what I do sometimes) so I'm hoping this looks equally as lovely on me!

Re: PAT McGRATH LABS

Thank you @sabrinas!

I am really liking the gold stick and pigment (and am very olive ;))

I think it will look great on you, too!

I'm still on the fence about the pink pigment.  On my current skintone it comes off sort of fuchsia, so I might put it away to try again later this summer when I'm a bit darker.
