Hey there! First, I agree with the other comment about making sure she’s really getting to her scalp and rinsing well! I told a little girl I know (who was dealing with a similar issue) that not scrubbing and tuning your scalp well, is like only ever washing the comforter on your bed and never washing your sheets. And she’s improved since! Secondly, if she is washing correctly and the problem still occurs, I would 1.) switch her to washing her hair every 2-3 days and with Luke Warm water! If she can’t handle the cooler temp, tell her to take a bath with normal bath temp and only rinse her hair with the cooler temperature. 2.) a hot oil treatment once a week with coconut oil, olive oil, or jojoba oil mixed with a little apple cider vinegar and let it sit for 10-15 minutes and have you rinse her really well! 3.) if she isn’t already, shower/bath in the evening and let her hair air dry

@ninab22 maybe try a treatment masque for color and moisture. I love Oribe Moisture Masque but other brands have their own hair masks.  Also you can find great shampoos and conditioners at Ulta like Pureology and Alterna that is targeted for colored hair or moisture control and frizz. I like using a hair oil and and hair serum like John Frieda frizz ease extra strength to help tame frizzy hair after I wash my hair. Plus try not to wash your hair everyday as it strips your hair of its natural oils. I like to wash my hair 3-4 times a week.

Hi @badabrie The Olaplex shampoo is Sulfate Free, sometimes when we remove sulfates from shampoos (sulfates aren’t always a bad thing) our scalp doesn’t properly get cleansed. What you are describing is likely buildup and not dry scalp and dandruff. Incorporate a clarifying shampoo into your routine and i’m Confident your scalp problems will go away.

I do not have pin straight hair. However, I have used salt wave spray on straightened hair. I find for me, it's best to spray it and then I typically twist it and pin it up & allow it to fully air dry. Once I take it out, I have nice subtle beach waves!

@xomsa Olaplex might be a good option for you once you get a trim. There’s a lot of misinformation about Olaplex, so let me explain: Olaplex No.3 which is a pre- shampoo treatment contains no protein or moisture what so ever. It’s main ingredient is the active ingredient in the original Olaplex system (BPDD). This ingredient seeks out broken bonds (bonds are broken not only by chemicals and heat but by everyday stress such as sleeping on a cotton pillow, brushing your hair, wearing your hair in a tight pony etc) and re-links them back together; this prevents breakage. Olaplex 4 and 5 contain the same active ingredient but also contain added moisture.
