Keratin and Olaplex 3,4,5,6 - Keratin Treated hair

Hi everyone,

A 3a curly lady here that used to go for weekly blow outs for a more polished look. I got exhausted of wasting time and money just to have my colour treated hair over-dried. Finally braved out to get a keratin treatment.

It turned out amazing! I’m absolutely stunned but now comes the question of what Sulphate free shampoo, condition and deep conditioner to use? My stylist recommended Olaplex 4,5,6. However,  after a lot of research I have not seen them mentioned as top choices for keratin treated hair. In fact, I was going to purchase an all organic product line called Luxeorganix. 

Do you have any experience with Olaplex and keratin treated hair? 

Is no.3 actually that good? 

Also, please recommend a good keratin safe purple shampoo.

I've been getting keratin treatments for the past 2 years - it's such a game changer!  I use the shampoo and conditioner from the same line as my keratin treatment - Keratin Complex.  I just started using Olaplex 3 in the past month or 2, so it's too soon to talk long-term, but the couple times I've used it I've had great results.

Thank you! I can already see it’s insane difference! I guess I wouldn’t be getting the no.3 then!  

Would love to hear more from other ladies drying Olaplex 4/5/6 after a keratin treatment! Or any other recommends really.

Olaplex No. 4 Bond Maintenance™ Strengthening Hair Repair Shampoo 8.5 oz/ 250 mL

Olaplex No. 5 Bond Maintenance™ Strengthening Hair Repair Conditioner 8.5 oz/ 250 mL

are safe to use after a Keratin treatment as they do not contain sodium chloride. Sodium Chloride is what you need to avoid as it quickly eats away at the Keratin. Sulfates have no effect on Keratin Treatments, though Olaplex 4/5 is sulfate Free.

Hello, I don't know what type of keratin your hairdresser applies to you that can survive sulfates, I just had my hair done (Keratin Treatment) and I tried the Daily Frequent Shampoo from Milkshake to use between washes since I sweat a lot during my workouts, it was advise to me that it was safe and everything would be perfect, it has sulfates and in just one wash it ATE away my treatment. 

My advise to anyone reading this is to stick with Olaplex, it's a great brand and safe for keratin treated hair, oh and also always check the ingredient list. NO sulfates, NO sodiums.

Have you had any experience with no.3 and no.6 post keratin treatment? I would like to give either a shot but now worry for hidden sodium as I haven’t done enough research when it comes to either of them.

I use this website: --- (you can google it as curly bot analyzer if you don't trust the link) and I copy paste the ingredient list I find online, also if I have the actual product I compare that the online version and what is printed match and then click submit and it tells me the good and the bad. Since a lot of people that do the curly girl method and remove a lot of stuff from parabens, silicones, sulfates, sodium it is amazing at telling you what is has and that way you can find if it has hidden ingredients that may damage your treatment.
