Your (Beauty) Year in Review: 2018 Sephora habits!

Well, after some last minute Xmas shopping I managed to re-Rouge for 2019... Hope it’s worth it! My habits this year were far more restrained, which means my 2018 New Year’s resolution to rein in my beauty shopping was somewhat met. Here’s to hoping 2019 is as filled with beauty and sensibility for me 😉

I definitely spent more at Sephora than I meant to this year. But at least 2 of my redeemed rewards were $100 Rouge gift cards. (Assuming the 2nd one’s included in the 7; I redeemed it the day before my birthday last week.)

Funny: I’ve used the Sephora app just 3 (I think) times, and one of those was purely for usability test purposes—not on Sephora’s behalf, but as part of my own job-related “let’s explore [certain aspects] of other companies’ apps to see if they have similar pitfalls or pleasant surprises” activities. If there are app-only exclusives coming, I guess I should get into the the app-using habit, even if parts of the app annoy me. 😂

23 Rewards Redeemed (whaaaat? really?)

Makeup was my favorite category (a bit surprised at this, though it makes me wonder how the leftover Play! boxes are classed, since I bought quite a few of them...for the skincare mostly lol)

Glamglow was my birthday gift (though I didn't really like either option, and would have taken the points if it had been available at the time)

2 Store Visits (one was to pick up the PMG mini lip trio, and I'm racking my brain to try and remember what the second one was lol. It either had to be a brow class (where I didn't purchase anything) or a JCP visit. Since folks are saying JCP isn't counting for them, I guess my class is it.)

56 Online Visits

They really need to customize the wording of the last one though... 😛

All in all, if I remember my 2017 total correctly, I spent roughly half as much this year. Looking forward to decreasing that number even further in 2019 😄

I also am SO glad they did not include a $ amount spent, @SportyGirly125. Though I’ve heard there’s a way to check that I just don’t feel the need to right now, or ever😂

@eshoe I feel you. We might just all have a mini heart attack if we saw the actual number. I keep track of my purchases but I do not want to add them up. I know it’s a lot.

I’m actually pretty proud of myself for cutting back on impulsive spending a bit. For 2019, I will try to make even fewer purchases and I’ll TRY to stick with using what I already own. I’m VERY happy to see how much money I saved (almost $600)... that always makes me feel slightly better about my makeup vice 😬😉 

Makeup being my favorite category was not a shocker at all; I’m a sucker for LE makeup 🤓

Mine wasn’t as bad as I thought only 11 store visits and 48 online. It said I saved $363.25 and skincare was my favorite category. I’m just glad they don’t include total amount spent 🤦‍♀️

@LCResz One habit I noticed I started this year was checking the Sale section regularly.  I think I only found two things I was interested in, but it was still worth it!  🙂  I just wish it was organized better.  I filter by what's "new" but it seems (to me) that the newest addition might not necessarily be first.

I winced when I saw the email, but it wasn't as bad as I thought.  (I'm glad they didn't include overall spending this time).

24 store visits, 43 online visits, saved $265.87, 250 pts Bday gift, makeup was also my favorite category and I redeemed 15 rewards.

@LCResz - One thing I noticed is it doesn't count SiJCP visits and purchases.  Like you, though, I re-rouged last week.  I intentionally cut way back on my spending, but I also didn't see things that caught my attention this year.

My category this year was Skin Care, which was my 2018 resolution.

I redeemed 1 reward, saved $160.75, picked up the Bite Beauty birthday gift, had 1* store visit, and made 5* on-line purchases.

*This is why I know they aren't counting SiJCP visits and purchases.  I know I made several visits and purchases there.

@Titian06 You’re absolutely right, I went through my old shopping trips and they definitely didn’t count my SiJCP visits. Wonder what kind of criteria they use to figure out visits and money saved? It’s as perplexing as the “formula” used to move up in BIC levels 🤣
