I love going on walks and if I'm lucky taking a few photos while I'm lost in nature. 🏞🌎🌺  Does anyone else enjoy that?

It was a beautiful day, the sun was shining but the breeze was cool. Everything smelt so fresh and we saw a few animals too. 😀

Some pics from a recent beautiful neighborhood walk with my parents.

Woolly bear caterpillar - it seems to be a banner year for them, I have never seen so many. I must have moved a dozen of them out of the road. They are fascinating little creatures - they have a natural antifreeze-like substance in their cells that allows them to literally freeze solid during the winter months without dying. There is also an old superstition that the amount of black on woolly bears can tell you how cold and snowy the coming winter will be (this is not actually true). I think they're pretty cute, too!

I spotted this bright orange caterpillar crossing the road near our house. INaturalist (a citizen science site/app) says it is some kind of cutworm (moth larvae).

A beautiful red maple leaf. Fall leaves haven't been that colorful this year where I live, but there are still some stunning leaves if you look for them.🍁

@caitbird  That is the fluffiest caterpillar I have ever seen!

@heartsmyface  look up hickory tussock moth caterpillars, I think they're even fluffier! I love the fluffy ones lol

@caitbird   Lovely pictures!  You're brave to handle the caterpillars; I'm never sure which ones can cause a rash.

@Ispend2much6  thank you! Brave is one word for it 😂 but I've handled this kind many times before so I know they're safe.

Ooh these are cute little caterpillars @caitbird You even moved them too safety 💖 I have seen the top one before but not the bottom one, what a bright color! 

I love maple trees, the red leaves in fall are so pretty. They give those bright fall reds 😄 Gorgeous pics!

@CynthieLu  I am just a soft-hearted animal lover and will always help critters across the road when I can! I had never seen one like that bright orange caterpillar before either, it's pretty wild-looking, isn't it? And the maples are definitely my favorite fall trees. Thank you!

I've always loved those Orange/Black caterpillars but I never knew thier named before! I love learning new things, thank you @caitbird 📚 ❤️

I saw one today and put it in some tall grass, and it was nice to know what it was called. 😉

I was out walking a few weeks ago after a job interview and was taking pictures of the scenery to send to my partner, to try to convince him that it'd be a pretty place to live. What a neat thread idea, @CynthieLu !!
