Some of us here have expressed an interest in a book club, myself, @mermadelove, @LCResz, @ZombieMetroAnt, @Mcakes. If you'd be interested in joining, reply below. My initial thought was to mail the books around but if it means that some people can't participate, then I'm all for dropping that requirement. I'd love this to be a place where we nominate our favorite book and others can read it and comment. Something fun for the new year! ETA: the booklist:

I recently learned that going into the library for physical books is a lot faster than waiting for a copy online. I was able to grab these the day I went in while online, there was like a 14 week hold/wait list 😳
I love pandan pancakes/waffles but idk if I can or should eat them anymore... unless I'm with another who knows CPR 😂
Yes for getting your hands on the books at your local library @jaaayp! And, yes!! to getting your hands on some pandan pancakes / waffles. That sounds delicious! 😋 Reading and eating sound like a great pairing, perfect for Habit Stacking - not just saying that because it's what I try to do a night or two during the work week. 😉 @Mellmars1185
And now, I must do some online research for restaurants near me that make yummy pandan pancakes or waffles. This could be dangerous. Yummy, but dangerous.

Hey there @gingerdooo! Is there a particular genre or types of books you enjoy reading?
Just finished this. I saw it was available to checkout from my library and remembered @itsfi @and couple ladies here love it.
it was interesting read. It almost likes a modern twist of Les Miserable.
@blackkitty2014 I watched the show but didn’t read the book. I recommend the show if you liked the book! @itsfi
If so many of you like it then it must be interesting. I placed a hold for e-book.
This is on my listttt @blackkitty2014 on a scale of 1 to 10... how would you rate LOL
@jaaayp I would give it a 7. It has a happy ending. But I can’t stand the phrase “I’m a scientist”. That phrase reminds me so much of my engineering friends in college. They was good people but only if they could stop zapping about it 😂🤣
@blackkitty2014, did you like the book enough to watch the TV series (if you had Apple TV)?
I do like the story @itsfi . But I don’t have Apple TV. Who’s playing the main character? I’m trying to not subscribe too many streaming app. I have HBO but we almost never watch it. 😂🤣 we are watching a lot of Paramount+ and Netflix.maybe one day I will subscribe Apple TV. They have many shows that I would def want to watch
@blackkitty2014, Brie Larson plays the main character. I have an offer for a lengthy trial period for Apple TV. Right now isn't a great time for watching TV so I'm not going to subscribe now - I have a couple of subscription that, like you,I don't ever use or use very infrequently. I may start on Apple TV in the summer months or if there are more shows that I know I would watch - at the moment, it would be Lessons in Chemistry and The Last Thing He Told Me.
Out of curiosity (and to possibly add to my list of shows to watch), what shows on Apple TV catch your eye?
@itsfi I haven’t watched The Morning Show. But the new 2024 released liked Franklin, Presumed Innocence and Manhunt looks good. 😘. I hope HBO up their games. Their shows are a bit unappealing lately.
I come from, and have significantly added to, a family of big readers. I picked up the habit of reading a few different books at once from my mother. I not only have a few books near my bedside table, I have a few around the house, on my Kindle and I listen to them on Audible.
Because I’m writing a non-fiction book I’m reading biographies and history books. Right now I’m going through books about Princess Margaret, four medieval sisters who all became queens, the Mitfords and a group of 5 sisters who were cousins with another sister pair in the courts of Louis XIV and Charles II. I’m also reading a sort of junky sci-go print book written in 1982. On my Kindle I’m reading the third book in a sci-fi series called The Chaos Chronicles by Jeffrey A. Carver.
On Audible I’m presently listening to a book written by J.G. Lewis called The Bone Chess Set. It’s part of a series that center on mysteries set during the time of Henry III. I am happty to say that the protagonist was a real woman named Ela of Salisbury. She was married to King Henry II’s illegitimate son, William Longspee. After his death she served as the sheriff of Salisbury, of which she was Countess in her own right.
@dll770 - Your reading is very eclectic like mine. The Bone Chess Set sounds interesting as do the various bios and histories. 🙂
I should say that I'm reading about Elezebeth Smith-Friedman.
Tis le time for self-help self-improveeee 🙌
It's been kinda rainy here in sunny southern California so it's been pretty a pretty awesome time to stay in bed all day. I won't name all the books I've read this month because I think I went through like close to 10 books and half was Freida McFadden (I'm addicted to the easy/quick reads of her books and kindleunlimited feeds the addiction).
Honorable mention is Silent Patient. This one really caught me off guard and was a really good read.
@jaaayp You have been through quite a few books. I need to start reading moe. Sometimes it takes me a while to get into a book. I have read Atomic Habits. It had some great advice. I have The Four Agreements in my collection but I have not read it yet. I hope you enjoy the books. Any improvement we can take away is a step in the right direction. Hoping for some sunny days ahead!
I can definitely see that @Mellmars1185 I enjoy reading like "easy"/"quick" reads where the authors write how they talk (very much Atomic Habits) vs like a narrator etc. It helps me immerse into the book faster and the imagination runs a little more wild 😂
I’ve heard of the four agreements as being a great book. Those all look like amazing reads! 🫶 @jaaayp
Thank you @peculiarzmakeup tbh idk if it was my favorite but it definitely does open your eyes here and there!!
