Use Your Foil Samples Challenge 2018

Not a good week for me, only used 5 samples and received 21. Ugh! YTD totals are 612 used and 442 received. All repeats but who doesn't love the orangy creamsicle scent of the Glam Glow cleanser? Working on making next week better.

RE: Use Your Foil Samples Challenge 2018

I finished 10 samples this week. LOVES: Stila Glitter & Glow liquid eye shadow in Kitten Karma. Already purchased based on the long wearing, chunky glitter. This middle aged housecat uses it as a subtle (ok just the color is subtle) thick eyeliner to bounce some light around when feeling like a frisky kitten. Meow! The unlabeled sample is Drunk Elephant Shaba Complex Eye Serum. Imparts serious moisture and it absorbs well. Does not sting my sensitive eyes or skin. Probably will purchase but I still want to try and compare with the DE C Tango eye cream. LIKES: I was liking the DE Lala Retro moisturizer until I cracked open a DE Protini sample yesterday. Protini is a lovable game changer for me. now Lala is just a like. The Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Mask smells great but I feel like I’m drowning in products that exfoliate and there are masks I like better. So, it’s not gonna be a purchase. The lippie is Tarte Glossy Lip Paint in Goals. Really liked it but I also really need to thin my lip gloss herd. Strongly liked the YSL Night Rehab Lip Mask. Moisturizing, healing, smells great. But I’m already in a committed relationship with Dermalogica Nightly Lip Treatment, which I prefer. BTW, I hated the YSL Volupte Liquid Color Balm, which came in the same sample packet. It’s ok for one use. But after that it *stains* your lips like Kool Aid: an intense, bright, color. Actually, it’s a little drying, as well. I really liked the Volition Detoxifying Silt Gelee Mask. It was not drying like I had imagined. The sage smell, in my opinion, was a little weird and made me feel like Italian Sausage while I was wearing it. Dr. Roebuck’s No Worries moisturizer is fabulous. The scent is light and not perfumey. It’s very rich and absorbs well. A very good moisturizer. But, again, Protini got me. NOPES: prescriptives False Lashes maybe I got a bad sample but it was too dry and did not give me any volume. Good definition. But not enough to make me like it. Rahua Voluminous Conditioner. Too much of a tea tree/menthol smell and not enough rich moisture. I do like the Rahua brand though, this is just an exception.

Re: Use Your Foil Samples Challenge 2018

I always forget to post my foils/DS samples here, and end up tossing them. 94AF53EF-1A48-4BF7-BCAE-B49F45521E33.jpeg

Spoiler

The Sachajuan perplexes me a bit but I love it and so does my hair. It’s touted as a hair cleansing cream, which I think is another phrase for ‘fancy shampoo’ ha! But the scent reminds me of my grandmother, so I just love it. It has a conditioner-like texture, and leaves my thin hair incredibly soft. It takes me forever to get through a bottle of shampoo or conditioner, but when I am finally ready this is what I hope to buy.

I have given the Laneige many different twists and turns and opportunities, but I’m just not overwhelmed by it. They make great lip and sheet masks, though!

The Tatcha DS was a gift from @sonnydee and I loved it. That scent is so comforting to me. But the one thing I do go through quickly is facial moisturizer, so I have to keep price in mind. I would absolutely buy FS if I didn’t use so much of it.

Re: Use Your Foil Samples Challenge 2018

@eshoe I agree that the Sachajuan has great results, but that fact that it smells like something I'd picture a "Grandma" wearing is why I personally didn't like it, haha!

I've heard so many mixed reviews on the Laneige mask which is why I have hesitated buying it! I just got a sample, so I'll soon find out! Thanks for the heads up!

Re: Use Your Foil Samples Challenge 2018

I just used my LANEIGE - Water Sleeping Mask and felt the same way. I thought maybe I did something wrong since it has good reviews.

Also glad to hear the lip mask is better since I purchased the LANEIGE - Kiss and Make Up Set.

Thanks for sharing how these products worked.

RE: Re: Use Your Foil Samples Challenge 2018

@eshoe I am so glad you translated the Sachajuan into “fancy shampoo.” I’ve been staring at it all week wondering what to do! I will try it for sure now.

Re: RE: Re: Use Your Foil Samples Challenge 2018

The instructions on the packet are a little confusing, @christyrc! I think I looked at a couple different sites before figuring out I am supposed to use it as shampoo, by rubbing it into my scalp, letting it sit for one minute, then rinsing and following with a conditioner. But it made my thin hair so soft, I could skip the conditioner and maybe use a leave-in if I felt I really needed it.

RE: Use Your Foil Samples Challenge 2018

Sadly this go-round wasn’t so successful! The Briogeo was the worst of the lot; my hair doesn’t tangle, but it was a mess after using this. I keep trying new products on my waves, but nothing seems to work as well as DevaCurl.

Use Your Foil Samples Challenge 2018

Coming down to year end and to date I have used 607 samples/foils and received 421. Yes another week where I did not receive any new samples. I did use 11 this past week. Favorites were the L'occitane Shower Oil; i smelt yummy all day. I loved the Amore Pacific RadianceOil. It seriously hydrated my very dry skin after being in the mountains for a few days. And if you look closely you will see a clear fragrance sample of Lazy Sunday Morning by Replica. I loved this scent that I will be buying this soon.

@CorgiMommy did the shower oil leave any kind of oily residue? I bought the holiday ornament to sample., for some reason overlooked that it was a oil😒 I got oily skin already. Love the scent though!

Re: Not at all

Oh thank goodness! @CorgiMommy thanks for the quick response😉😘

RE: Use Your Foil Samples Challenge 2018

@CorgiMommy I, too, loved the L’Occitane Amande shower gel. Thought it smelled just a little less sweet than marzipan. 😊 delicious!

Re: Use Your Foil Samples Challenge 2018

I have Lazy Sunday Morning and always get complimented when I wear it - it’s so great! After a sweaty spin class the other day I was talking with the instructor and she told me I smelled like, “fancy laundry.” Haha! The Replica scents are just so great.

Also, I’m so inspired by your YTD totals and wish I would have kept a yearly total. You’ve basically used 2 samples per day this year!  @CorgiMommy

Thanks, this is my most fun new year's resolution. The numbers are a little embarrassing but I am getting my stash down.

RE: Use Your Foil Samples Challenge 2018

Last sample crop of the October Harvest. I purchased the Dermalogica Nightly Lip Treatment because of this sample. It will hold a place beside Bite’s Agave Lip Mask in my holy grail of lip treatments. The Nightly Lip Treatment leaves my lips super soft, moist (but not too moist and not sticky at all) ready for matte lipsticks or whateverLoved the Smashbox Superfan mascara. It could be a contender. I loved the Tata Harper Regenerating Cleanser. Was surprised by the exfoliating action and whatever else was leaving my skin squeaky clean and free of dead skin cells. As always, the Belif True Cream moisturizer is my current holy grail moisturizer for its ability to sink right in and hold the moisture all day without looking greasy or upsetting my sensitive skin 🙂 LIKES: Liked all of them but for one reason or another, I have no plans to purchase. Although, I’m still mulling over the Grande Lash because it is working to grow in thicker, darker hairs on my outereyebrows. I am using one more sample before I make a purchase/don’t purchase decision. BTW, this sample alone lasted me *four* months 😳 which makes me want to pick up another one of the glitter play! Kits. But then I would have more Stilla Glitter & Glow in Kitten Karma than I would ever be able to use. Don’t get me wrong. I love the Glitter & Glow. But, I digress. Ah, sample life. Amirite? N O P E S: Algenist Liquid Collagen Lip product. Used samples for three weeks. Dried. My. Lips. Up. Won’t purchase.

@christyrc, I loved the Dermalogica lip therapy too. I think I'll use my Ulta 20% off on it 🙂

Re: RE: Use Your Foil Samples Challenge 2018

@christyrc, I love the GrandeLash MD; it’s made a big difference in my lashes! belif Moisturizing Bomb is one of my go-to winter moisturizers!

Re: RE: Use Your Foil Samples Challenge 2018

@christyrc the Regeneratig Cleanser is amazing. I bought the smaller size awhile back and it lasted well over a year. If you do buy a FS, store it in your fridge or a cooler area to preserve it as long as possible! I have that Algenist sample and yours is the second review I’ve read tonight that shares the same thoughts. Will have to try it soon, thx for your thoughts!
