* 11-27-18, last update for the year! *

Hi everyone, We are almost to the last month of our challenge, time flew by fast! For December, sonnydee, scott1201, and eshoe have an idea for a sub challenge called “Deluxe December” Use up as many deluxe samples as you wish! As always, post your progress weekly, or end of the month- whenever you want- including foil samples too. Thanks to all contributors, (anyone can participate at any time). ❤️

Re: Use Your Foil Samples Challenge 2018

My brain struggles to sort that out, @scott1201. most sheet masks are in foil! This challenge has been a little stressful for me trying to sort out my different types of empties...I should just start a sheet mask empties thread 😂

Re: Use Your Foil Samples Challenge 2018

@scott1201  The moroccan oil is amazing, it makes the hair a tad softer and adds a bit of natural looking shine to the hair.

Re: Use Your Foil Samples Challenge 2018

Nice work @scott1201! You finished several DS!! 😃

Re: Use Your Foil Samples Challenge 2018

Made some more progress with foils/samples. The spoiler includes a breakdown of where they fall in the loves, likes, maybe, etc. categories.

22 foils/samples in this batch!22 foils/samples in this batch!

LovesI already have a full size or I will purchase a full size of these beauties.

Spoiler
Oribe Gold Lust Nourishing Hair Oil; and Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum CreamOribe Gold Lust Nourishing Hair Oil; and Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream

Oribe Gold Lust Nourishing Hair Oil – wow, this one surprised me. There’s so much product in the foil too, which is great. I have about 6 more of these foils!

Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream
– full disclosure, I already have this cream … and the shower gel … and body scrub … and lip balm … and … LOL!  You get the picture. I have a host of products from this line; they smell amazing!

Likesthese items are good. I might purchase a full size, depending on what other similar products I already have on hand that I want to finish up first.

Maybebetter than “just okay”, but not quite a “like” for me

Too Faced Hangover 3-in-1 Replenishing Primer & Setting Spray; Dr. Jart+ BB Cream; Tatcha Violet-C Radiance Mask; SK-II GenOptics Aura Essence Serum; and Tatcha The Deep CleanserToo Faced Hangover 3-in-1 Replenishing Primer & Setting Spray; Dr. Jart+ BB Cream; Tatcha Violet-C Radiance Mask; SK-II GenOptics Aura Essence Serum; and Tatcha The Deep Cleanser
Dr. Jart+ BB Cream might be a better color-match for me in the winter. Tatcha The Deep Cleanser says it's for normal to oily skin, so I'm not sure it would be best suited for my skin as the weather cools since my skin tends to become more dry then.

Mehit’s not bad; it’s “just okay.”

Marvis Whitening Mint Toothpaste; First Aid Beauty Hello FAB Coconut Skin Smoothing Priming Moisturizer; Benton Snail Steam Cream; Aromatica Calendula Non-Nano UV Protection; Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Cleanser; and Ouai Haircare Treatment MasqueMarvis Whitening Mint Toothpaste; First Aid Beauty Hello FAB Coconut Skin Smoothing Priming Moisturizer; Benton Snail Steam Cream; Aromatica Calendula Non-Nano UV Protection; Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Cleanser; and Ouai Haircare Treatment Masque

Nothese are not for me

Spoiler
Gucci Bloom by Gucci; and Bvlgari Omnia Pink SapphireGucci Bloom by Gucci; and Bvlgari Omnia Pink Sapphire
Gucci Bloom by Gucci – I’m okay with white floral fragrances if they’re on the light, subtle side. This one was not; it was too heady for me – too strong of a gardenia / tuberose scent for my taste, but if you gravitate towards big, white floral scents, you might want to check this one out.

Bvlgari Omnia Pink Sapphire – I'm not sure what the notes are supposed to be in this fragrance, but I got pepper.  Lots of pepper.

Interestingly enough though, the combining of these two fragrances worked out well for me, but standing alone, not so much.

Re: Use Your Foil Samples Challenge 2018

@itsfi  I see that the tatcha foils weren't a favorite.  did your skin have any weird/strange reactions to it?

Re: Use Your Foil Samples Challenge 2018

Fortunately, no weird or strange reactions to either of the Tatcha samples, @darkiceis! With the Violet-C mask, it's not bad - I just have other Vitamin C products I use. With the cleanser, I'm not sure whether I didn't have enough sample to really test out the product fully or whether it's not ideally suited for my skin since it is getting more dry with the cooler weather. I think it may be a little bit of both. The Sephora site says its for normal, oily, combination and sensitive skin so I think that my skin leaning more towards dehydrated-dry may be playing a role in my not finding the product to be a good fit for me.

Re: Use Your Foil Samples Challenge 2018

@itsfi Love the Bum Bum cream also ! Nice work on using your foils! I’ve got to step up and use some of my foils and DS 🙄! I keep collecting them, I have a drawer full in my bathroom...

Re: Use Your Foil Samples Challenge 2018

That is some serious foil work, @itsfi-5 DS included, I am impressed👍🏼👏🏼!! Had no idea you loved the Bum Bum Cream so much! I didn’t know they made a lip balm...it must be 🏅;)

Re: Use Your Foil Samples Challenge 2018

Thanks @eshoe! I started most of these at the beginning of the month, so it’s been interesting to see how much product is actually included in the samples - not all samples are created equal! - and how quickly (or slowly) I go through them.

I initially gifted some Sol de Janeiro products to a few friends and then got hooked myself on the scent. The tropical beachy scent 🏝 was nice for the summer - like a little getaway when I wasn’t able to get away. 😊

Re: Use Your Foil Samples Challenge 2018

What is so nice about this cream is the scent is beach but not full-on sunscreen spf 15 in a bottle beachy, @itsfi. I’ve been using a DS of it the past couple of weeks and noticed today how subtle the shimmer is. It’s *just enough* without being over-the-top. I can totally understand how you developed a collection😊

Re: Use Your Foil Samples Challenge 2018

Wow wow wow, @itsfi! Fantastic job using up samples! I’m having such a hard time using up fragrance - do your samples seem to last like 4 uses? Maybe I should be spritzing more 🤔

Re: Use Your Foil Samples Challenge 2018

Thank you @scott1201! 😊 I get about 3 or 4 days of wear on average with the perfume samples - the Jo Malone one seemed to have a lot more spritzes in it than the other ones (that one also helped to tone down the Gucci and Bvgalri scents so I also did some fragrance combining). For most days and with most of the perfumes, I would spritz on my inner wrist and behind both ears. A couple of days this week and last week, I had after work events to attend so on those days, I used the perfume sample in the morning and a touch up in the evening.

RE: Use Your Foil Samples Challenge 2018

Slowly moving along, Total now is 11/40 used. I may need to revise my goals! The Rahua was not part of my original 40 but I finished it so am including it. I blended the CT and Clarins, it made an awesome sauce ha! The shampoo and conditioner were really, really bad for my hair.

Re: RE: Use Your Foil Samples Challenge 2018

@eshoe It’s so bizarre that something works wonders for someone and is the total opposite for someone else! My HG shampoo is the B&B Thickening one!

Re: RE: Use Your Foil Samples Challenge 2018

I know, @keana1@sonnydee just finished a foil that is my HG (the KORRES - Wild Rose Vitamin C Petal Peel) and didn’t care for it😳 To me it’s as good as DE Babyfacial! I loved the scent of the shampoo & conditioner but it was so hard on my hair. Amazing how different we all are, it really intrigues me what makes a product universally appealing, because there are so many subtle differences. Believe me, if I could, I would go back in time, seal up my B&B foils and send them to you😂

Re: RE: Use Your Foil Samples Challenge 2018

@eshoe I really don’t know if a universally appealing product really exists?

Re: RE: Use Your Foil Samples Challenge 2018

I guess when I say that, I mean like a bell curve of enthusiasts, @keana1. Like there have been masks on the thread that the general consensus is ‘yes, they are great!’ Or ‘no, I won’t bother repurchasing.’ Not everyone, but most. I wish I could think of a product now...band-aids 😂 ?

Re: RE: Use Your Foil Samples Challenge 2018

@eshoe I guess everyone likes Band-Aids, especially children! 😜

Re: RE: Use Your Foil Samples Challenge 2018

Band-aids are funny, @keana1. I gave myself a good slice on my finger this weekend and needed a band-aid. I just wanted a normal band-aid and everything was pizza 🍕 or cupcake shaped, or glitter foil that had no room for my skin to breathe. You never realize how important something is until you need it!

Re: RE: Use Your Foil Samples Challenge 2018

@eshoe I guess you have children? When I was a child, I just loved Band-Aids that had a happy face printed on them 🙂 ! There wasn’t glitter on them yet 🤣 !

Re: RE: Use Your Foil Samples Challenge 2018

Yes, @keana1 and according to her, the right bandaid isn’t so much about functionality as it is form/beauty. I didn’t teach her that, it’s just innate🙄 I know it all too well, as I’m guessing you do, too;)
