@CorgiMommy, it's lovely. Will you be picking up this body cream?
I have to see it in person as I do love the Biossance body cream @itsfi
Oh this sounds lovely! I love the lavender scent that’s in the 54 Thrones African Beauty Butter Mini Gift Set I can imagine a cream just being so amazing! This is so cool! I’m so excited hopefully they do. Thank you for sharing this! 💜💜💜 is this something you would try? I’d definitely give it go for sure 🙂 @itsfi
@peculiarzmakeup, I like the vanilla scent in this cream formula and was thinking to myself whether I’d repurchase the vanilla or pick up this lavender + mint or the rose scent. A little goes a long way so I would consider getting this one if it came in a mini version.
A mini version would be so helpful to feel the product out. It’s so cool when company’s make new products it always is fun to experience the newness and appreciate the already here products 🙂 @itsfi
I may have asked you this before (and sorry for asking again), but what's been your favorite scent from their line @peculiarzmakeup?
Yay they are up! Glitch?!

Another Kbeauty brand entering Sephora - Biodance
The Biodance Bio Collagen Real Deep Mask for Pore Minimizing & Firming Care has been a hit on social media.
Excited to see Sephora carrying a set with the different varieties.
@itsfi I tried the viral mask and liked it, but idk if it’s worth the hype. It’s pretty much the same as the Sungboon Editor one. It’s intriguing how Ulta and now Sephora are carrying so many K-beauty brands. My one peeve is that they have to change the formulas of their SPFs to US standards, which makes them not as nice.
A few brands have come up with sheet masks with a similar concept @makeitup305. Not surprising. Both the Biodance and Sungboon Editor have ingredients unique to their particular version that interest me. Since I have the Biodance, I'll give it a try at some point, but it's unlikely that I'll keep it on overnight.
Sephora has had Korean beauty brands for a while with innisfree, Sulwhasoo, Dr Jart, belif and previously, AmorePacific. It may go back further but in the mid 2010s, they started carrying a lot more Kbeauty brands, with the ladies of Glow Recipe assisting in the limited number of products offered from Korean brands like Neogen, Son & Park, Touch in Sol, and Blithe - I *think* Blithe was in Sephora (?). Since that time, there's been interest in Korean beauty brands but recently, there's another wave so it makes sense, from a business perspective, that Sephora and Ulta make an effort to capture a portion of that interest.
100% agree on Korean sunblock formulations being really nice; Japanese sunblocks, too. It'd be great to have access to them; at the same time, I appreciate that there being different regulatory standards for different countries. It doesn't seem like there would be a one-size-fits-all standard that would work everywhere.
@itsfi From what I understand the US standards for sunscreen are just out of date compared to Europe and Asia, since they’re regulated like a drug and not a cosmetic. I don’t often like US chemical sunscreens (the texture and smell are usually not my favorite ) but usually enjoy the ones from Japan and Korea, of which I’ve tried quite a few. Mineral sunscreens are fine. I just finished the iNNBEAUTY PROJECT Mineral Sun Glow Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 43 PA +++ with Peptides and Vitamin C and really liked it. Today I returned the Then I Met You Essence Light Sunscreen Broad Spectrum Moisturizer SPF 50 PA +++ 1.69 oz / 50 ml because I bought it thinking it was mineral and it was chemical (avobenzone, homosalate, etc) and I didn’t really like it.
Olive Young is supposed to open a store in the US soon(ish). I wonder what they’re going to do with all the spf products and how they’re going to be regulated for sale in the US.
@makeitup305 @itsfi Chiming in since someone asked me about this yesterday (“how the heck is Olive Young gonna legally sell Korean sunscreens in a US store”) and it’s still fresh in my mind.
US standards aren’t just out of date. I mean they are out of date, but there’s a kinda obnoxious process to get new UV filter ingredients approved by the FDA, and the agency’s apparently stubborn about accepting UV filters beyond what they already consider safe. Many Korean sunscreens use updated UV filters that were developed in Europe (so, they’re also in many European sunscreens): these include those super cool tinosorbs and uvinuls we can’t have in US sunscreens, plus L’Oreal’s proprietary mexoryl 400 UV filter. The “super cool” thing about these newer filters is their UVA protection range + photostability. Avobenzone (the only UVA filter the FDA allows in US sunscreens, besides zinc oxide) is unstable in sunlight, so US chemical sunscreens need extra UV filters just to stabilize this one ingredient—and some people are skin-sensitive to those extra filters. And then there’s UVA1 vs. UVA2 protection, and how newer filters beat avobenzone there (avobenzone’s still safe, it just doesn’t have as wide a UVA range as newer filters). I keep hoping L’Oreal will convince the FDA to approve at least their mexoryl filter(s), but that hasn’t happened yet.
Olive Young won’t be able to sell any sunscreens in a US store that contain any UV filters not approved by the FDA. Eh, they’ll can’t legally label those products as “sunscreens.” Can’t call ‘em “sunblocks” either since that’s a term the FDA banned over a decade ago. So, OY will probably just sell sunscreens formulated for the US market. Some brands make US versions of their sunscreens because of this. Example: La Roche-Posay uses mexoryl 400 in their “UVmune” European sunscreens, but you won’t find that ingredient in any of their US sunscreens.
@WinglessOne thanks for the info. I knew the gist of it but not the details. I figured OY wouldn’t be able to sell something that wasn’t FDA compliant. So many Korean products have SPF, including lip balms and cushion foundations. I know RoundLab just released a US compliant version to more widely sell in the US but who knows how many companies will be willing to do that. The US is a big market but I’m sure it’s a huge investment for the company. OY being in the US probably will prevent us from shopping from their Korean website, I’m assuming, so I’ll have to get my fix somewhere else once they transfer to a US-based site.
@makeitup305 Eh, there are ways around a US website… in fact, that’s the only reason (within US borders anyway) to have a VPN. 😂 The problem might be shipping: I doubt OY will close their current global site if they launch a US-specific site, but I don’t know if they’ll still ship global orders to the US (in addition to shipping from the US site). If they block US customers from ordering from their global site, then they’d end up driving our business to other K-beauty retailers. 🤷♀️ It’ll be interesting to see/hear how they handle that.
