Pan It! - 2026 Challenge

2026 has arrived and so has YEAR NINE (9) of the Pan It! Challenge 🍾

20262026

The "Rules"

To accommodate a variety of interests, you all are encouraged to pick items to pan that are most suitable to your collections.  For some, this might mean focusing on a particular type of product (like lipstick) and for others this may include a larger variety spanning your entire makeup or skincare routine.

Getting Started (please share the following)

  • Which item(s) you would like to work on
  • How long you will work on said item
  • Goal: explore a new item, revisit an old item, decide whether to keep pass or trash, and/or completely finish item, etc.
  • Starting photo of item

Please Use This Thread To...

  • share what item(s) you are working on,
  • provide comparative progress photos of your item(s) monthly (at the beginning of the month when possible),
  • ask questions,
  • encourage others,
  • motivate others with the looks you create with your item(s)

Tips and Tricks to Panning/Getting Some Use Out of Your Stash:

Spoiler

  • Take photos!!  When you think you aren’t making a dent in anything look back at those photos, I’m certain you’ll see some changes 😃 *this is the number one recommendation for everyone, regardless of how long you’ve been panning! Those photos add up and can help you realize progress you might otherwise overlook.
  • If you goal is to hit pan or use something up entirely, try concentrating your brush/applicator in the same area each time you use it
  • Multitask your products: eyeshadows as highlighter, lipstick as blush, eyeshadow as brow powder, etc.
  • Layer eyeshadow to create different colors (this is especially helpful to get use out of shades you’re not fond of).
  • Have shadows with a ton of fall out?  Use water
  • Watching the progress of others’ can be fun but try not compare your progress to theirs.  We all use our makeup differently and have different goals.
  • Don’t restrict yourself to only using the item(s) you are working on.  It’s more than OK to incorporate other items or take a break!

Makeup should be fun….if you begin to dread doing your makeup because you made a commitment to use a product that you now hate, TOSS IT!  Do not force yourself to use up something you don’t like.  Move on to something else!  (This includes excluding particular shades from your goals if focusing on palettes, etc.)

Ideas to Help You Pan Those Items:

Spoiler

  • Roll the dice: number your items and use a random number generator to pick what you will use each (day/week/month/etc.)
  • Layer/Mask: items you are less fond of under things you like
  • Pan a Look: at the beginning of the week pick a look that you can wear everyday
  • Recreate: a look worn by a fellow BICer, celebrity, etc.
  • Spice up an "everyday" look by adding subtle pops of color (in the crease or on the lower lash line, mix lip products to make shades wearable, etc.)

Re: Pan It! - 2026 Challenge

@haleyvvvv thank you!! They are good but I wouldn't purchase full size or  repurchase travel lol I have a good amount of travel sizes that need used

Re: Pan It! - 2026 Challenge

@lmaster Love all three of these products... and a finished fragrance already!!!

Re: Pan It! - 2026 Challenge

Thank you! @missjeanie 🙌

Re: Pan It! - 2026 Challenge

Ahhh, love the Dior lip oils @lmaster ! Is the Viktor & Rolf FlowerBomb perfume one you would repurchase?

Re: Pan It! - 2026 Challenge

@itsfi no it's not,  it's not bad by any means, there's just too much competition 😉

Re: Pan It! - 2026 Challenge

@lmaster WOOOO!

Re: Pan It! - 2026 Challenge

@Samtian I'm trying 😄

Re: Pan It! - 2026 Challenge

I hit my first pan of the year!! It's Chillz in my Fenty Beauty Killawatt Foil Freestyle Highlighter Palette. The goal for this palette is to hit two pans, so I'm going to either focus on Subzero or Scandal'Ice unless I use Hunny Slope as a blusher.

Thank you, thank you, @danielledanielle !! Very excited to have cooked this one up lol 🍳🥘

Re: Pan It! - 2026 Challenge

Yes, yes, yes!!!! First pan of the year, congratulations @haleyvvvv! 😍 Oh, what a feeling! A powder product, too, that's impressive!!

Re: Pan It! - 2026 Challenge

Thank you, @itsfi !! Its been a long time coming, I've had this palette for a while

Re: Pan It! - 2026 Challenge

@haleyvvvv YAY!! Congrats! That looks like a pretty color.

Re: Pan It! - 2026 Challenge

Thank you, @Samtian !! It is a very pretty colour—an iridescent shifty blue

Spoiler
Spoiler
These are all much easier to mark and see progress.
-BB Hairdressers Oil Fragrance-- I normally prefer to just wear whichever fragrance I choose that day, but I'm going to treat this as any other body spray.  I've used it a handful of times and will try to do so more often so that I can see I'm on track to finish the bottle by years end.  I know that since it's out and in my line of sight there's a better chance of this.
-JVN Air Dry Cream.  This is okay... I think I prefer the BB cream to make my ahir just a bit softer, as it's less finicky to use as well.  I have to be careful with the JVN not to apply too much.  That said, I made great progress this month and hope to finish it off in February.
-Thayers Milky Toner.  I swear this suds up when I apply it.
-Tower 28 Tinted SPF.  I thought I'd have this done in January as a gimmie product but I took the month to finish off a different base product.  I have already noticed that I need to bend the tube to get product out so I'm guessing it won't be long before I cut into the tube.  This also expired in December of 2025 so it's no longer used as an SPF, but just a tinted base.

Spoiler
-P&L Eye Cream.  I did use this a few times, but I'm just horrible for remembering to use an eye cream.
-Skylar mini fragrance.  This is about half the size of a travel size fragrance.  I should be able to get through it, but I just wasn't feeling motivated on this.
-The SC lip stain/scrub is fine.  It doesn't really stain at all.  I've been using it once or twice a week.  Will keep on keeping on.

Spoiler
-Farmacy Lip Mask.  I like this formula well enough, I've gone through a few different flavours before.  I've used this every night before bed and can see some progress but I'm going to try using it from one spot to better be able to see that progress.
-Farmacy Honey Face Mask.  I've been using this once a week.  I actually really enjoy the warming sensation, but dang this pot is going to take a long time to finish.
-Becca Blush.  I've used this everyday in January that I wore makeup and I'm quite surprised at how much I enjoy this shade!  I'll be happy to use this and use it up.  Hard to see progress in the pot though.
-Ulta Shadow Trio.  I do actually see a wee dip in the matte mauve shade.  I dont see this being finished in a year, but heres to trying!

Re: Pan It! - 2026 Challenge

You're making fantastic progress on that JVN @missjeanie #goals - I have a mini and I'm not moving nearly as quickly 🐌😆 That Tower 28 SunnyDays is my go-to skin tint and it still takes me forever to get through it, I'm convinced it just replenishes itself from time to time. 😂

This may be more effort than you want to put in to using up the Farmacy honey mask but I also use mine as a DIY foot mask of sorts - slather it on my soles and heels (especially the heels), wrap Saran wrap / cling wrap over my feet, put on a pair of socks and slippers and go about whatever needs to be done around the house (while also wearing the honey potion mask) and rinse off after 15 minutes. It's also makes a nice mask for my elbows every now and again.

Re: Pan It! - 2026 Challenge

@itsfi Considering the shape my feet are in at the moment... I'm not opposed to that idea with the Farmacy Honey Potion Plus Ceramide Hydration Mask 1.7 oz/ 50 g !  That said, I do have a few different actual foot masks that I should work my way through first! And... I just went and pulled one out to use tonight!

Re: Pan It! - 2026 Challenge

@missjeanie Great work!!!

Re: Pan It! - 2026 Challenge

Definitely! I think I can see the dent in the Becca blush @missjeanie

Re: Pan It! - 2026 Challenge

@danielledanielle I keep reaching for that blush over and over again... I'm so happy I decided to pan it, it would have been lost in my stash otherwise!

Re: Pan It! - 2026 Challenge

Fabulous progress, @missjeanie !! The Farmacy mask is such a fave and it'll go quicker than you think.

For the eye cream usage, if you wanted to increase, I have all of my in use skincare in my vanity in order of application, so I just make sure I use the entire shelf. If you have a similar set up, making sure it's in line could help?
