Hey all you cool cats and kittens, welcome to YEAR 6 of the Pan It Challenge!
The "Rules"
To accommodate a variety of interests, you all are encouraged to pick items to pan that are most suitable to your collections. For some, this might mean focusing on a particular type of product (like lipstick) and for others this may include a larger variety spanning your entire makeup or skincare routine.
Getting Started(please share the following)
Which item(s) you would like to work on
How long you will work on said item
Goal: explore a new item, revisit an old item, decide whether to keep pass or trash, and/or completely finish item, etc.
Starting photo of item
Please Use This Thread To...
share what item(s) you are working on,
provide comparative progress photos of your item(s) monthly (at the beginning of the month when possible),
ask questions,
encourage others,
motivate others with the looks you create with your item(s)
Tips and Tricks to Panning/Getting Some Use Out of Your Stash:
Take photos!!When you think you arenβt making a dent in anything look back at those photos, Iβm certain youβll see some changesπ*this is the number one recommendation for everyone, regardless of how long youβve been panning! Those photos add up and can help you realize progress you might otherwise overlook.
If you goal is to hit pan or use something up entirely, try concentrating your brush/applicator in the same area each time you use it
Multitask your products: eyeshadows as highlighter, lipstick as blush, eyeshadow as brow powder, etc.
Layer eyeshadow to create different colors (this is especially helpful to get use out of shades youβre not fond of).
Have shadows with a ton of fall out?Use water
Watching the progress of othersβ can be fun but try not compare your progress to theirs. We all use our makeup differently and have different goals.
Donβt restrict yourself to only using the item(s) you are working on.Itβs more than OK to incorporate other items or take a break!
Makeup should be funβ¦.if you begin to dread doing your makeup because you made a commitment to use a product that you now hate, TOSS IT!Do not force yourself to use up something you donβt like.Move on to something else! (This includes excluding particular shades from your goals if focusing on palettes, etc.)
Ahhhh @heartsmyface!! You, my friend, always have fab ideas! π‘I do have some foundations Iβm desperately wanting to work my way through and the idea of trying it as a cream blush is appealing. The lip gloss angle is also intriguing π€ β¦ says the girl with more lip glosses than she can count with her fingers β¦ π
@itsfi Oh noooooo. Iβm not crying youβre crying. This is so sad. I think I would put it in a small jar and pretend itβs like the Guerlain. Which shade is it? I think I have this one too.
Yeah @ather, Iβm crushed about it. Hahahaha! Pun not at all intended but Iβm loving it! π€ͺ If only I had been savvy enough to have intended it. π
Itβs tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush Paaarty - I have it in varying sizes - for the longest time, it seemed like a mini was included in every Tarte gwp! I donβt really need to use it up, just sorta feeling like I should. Or at least give it a try. π€
@itsfi hmmm...decisions decisions. If it were me I would toss it because I am lazy haha...but maybe you can try one of your ideas and see how it goes and if it preforms the same. If you are happy with it, keep it? If you dont use it, toss it?
Hahaha @Mellmars1185! Iβm good with lazy being a factor to consider in what to do here. ππΌπ It would make the decision much easier too! I have a feeling Iβll go your route of trying to use it for a (short π) period of time and see if thatβs sustainable for me in the long haul.
Follow your heart @itsfi If you want to soldier on with it you've listed ways to give it a try, but if you don't find any happiness or excitement with it anymore maybe it's time for it to go π
Yeah @CynthieLu, this one took a beating all around. π¬ Good advice. My heart tells me to βmake up your mind already, itsfi!!β π€£ Iβll decide soon - ish. Hahaha!
@itsfi Oh dear, well, I donβt know if it will do well using it in a small jar with a brush. Maybe thatβs the easiest if you want to keep it. If it still brings it pleasure to wear it then try one of the ways to keep it. I would try the easiest way first. But, if itβs not something you enjoy wearing anymore, then toss it.
@Cissy63, thatβs a great way to look at it. ππΌ I think my wanting to keep it is more a mix of stubbornness over wanting to finish something that took me soooo long to hit pan in the first place, and guilt (thatβs probably not warranted if I think long and hard about it) over tossing something. But you are right, if itβs not something I enjoy wearing I need to let it go. Making note of that, for this & other items.
@itsfi -- those are all good options really, but knowing tarte blushers, I think the pearl version will get very messy fast. But it's a good shade for that treatment, not being very dark. I'd probably either repress it, or grind it to dust and mix with a little tiny bit of face powder so it blend easy and doesn't go on too pigmented. Let us know what happens!
@heavyhedon, you make an excellent point about the possible likely mess!! π€¨ Blush isnβt a must have product for me (hello, easily flushed cheeks all the time!!! π) so the mess factor with a loose blush powder is definitely something to consider carefully.
