Thank you for committing to this research @itsfi 🙏💞
NARS Pro-Prime™ Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base Original in the original shade, not tinted, is my sturdy, reliable all time favorite. I saw it's still available on the Canadian side of Sephora soo I'll probably pick up a back up before it disappears.
It's reassuring to see that there's hope out there and good primers still to be found. 😄
@CynthieLu, go, go, go, grab your backup(s). These still appear on Sephora at Kohl's. I picked up a few there in store before they were exclusively online so I should be good for a long while.
Aaaah yes I should, I'll miss it too much when it's gone. @itsfi I did notice every shade has been removed from the Canadian site except Universal.
Oh, they squashed the tinted one here a year or so ago @CynthieLu . Medium was perfect 🥲
Oooh that's a bummer. R.I.P to one of your faves @danielledanielle I wonder what the reformulation will be like 🤔
Thanks for the tag, @itsfi ! I'm looking for a new eye primer. I haven't heard of this brand so I'm going to check it out. Thanks!
I don't know who Halsey is, @itsfi . 😄 I loved Too Faced Shadow Insurance several iterations ago. The past couple of reformulations have ruined a once HG product. (I'm currently using Too Faced for lack of a better choice.) I tried most versions of UD's primers and didn't like any and I don't care for MAC's either. I don't need a tinted primer because they're usually too dark. I did like LORAC's primer, but, again, that was a few years ago; it was discontinued before I could buy it. I'm sure there have been others, but those are the ones that come to mind right now.
She sings that song that’s like “thinking you could liveeeeeee without me thinking you could liveeee without me” haha now it’s stuck on a loop @Titian06
I can see this part of that song playing on repeat in my head today @peculiarzmakeup 😝 @Titian06
lol, she's a singer @Titian06; what genre? I dunno. [darn it, hit post too soon].
I used Too Faced and the NARS back in the day. I don't mind the Urban Decay Sin, but my go-to for sparkly, glitter or anything that has a high likelihood of fallout is the Valentino eye shadow primer, which is being or has been discontinued. 😣 about-face can be purchased directly through the brand or through ulta.
@itsfi - I went to Ulta today and picked up the About Face eye primer. Looking forward to trying it the next time I wear makeup...or I may wear eye makeup just to give it a try! 😁
lol @Titian06, wearing eye makeup just to give the primer a try - but such is the way of the BIC Science Team. 😂 I will wait patiently (maybe semi patiently, ha!) to hear about your findings.
What synchronicity @Titian06 @itsfi ! I recently found my About Face in the pile of makeup I haven't used for a year since my accident. Before that, I was not impressed with it-didn't work for me. I tried Today and it worked perfectly on my oily lids.
So, for a better performing product, apply the wand to your finger to get it on the lid. When it didn't work for me, I put the wand directly on my lid and it was too wet. I wasn't aware that that made a difference.
Oooh, it has new life @Buootiful!
During the throw down stage, I took product out of the about-face tube and placed it on one of those stainless steel palettes and then picked up product with either a brush like @Titian06 or used my fingers like you buootiful and then applied to my lids. Now that I know this one works for me and is a keeper, I typically do away with the stainless steel palette step.
That's great that you retried the primer, @Buootiful , and now you like it! Thanks for the tip on application. I am planning to swipe the wand on my concealer brush (it's a flat nylon brush) and apply with that brush. If that doesn't work, I'll try your method. 😘
@itsfi Looking forward to seeing the final verdict!
Ahhh, thanks for the gentle reminder @PrettyPaint! I just posted my thoughts and final verdict on this showdown up above. ⬆️
Ooh I hope it's not being discontinued @itsfi I have dry wrinkly lids but Nars really helps any shadow I have stay vibrant and in place throughout the day.
I appreciate the tag, thank you! I enjoy your thoughts and thoroughness when it comes to your stash 🙏
@CynthieLu, this version may be discontinued. They may be reformulating, to remove talc from the formulation, among other things - they've been doing that with their other products. I'm just not sure if a new one will be released anytime soon. I do see that it is available online through Sephora at Kohl's. I picked up two backups from a Kohl's store. There have been quite a few reviews that have found their reformulated products to be underwhelming compared to the original, so I've been making a more concerted effort to try out other eyeshadow primers out there to see how they perform - to ready myself for when I run out (which won't be for a while, but there's a lot of eyeshadow primers to be tested so better to start earlier 😂)
