Working Towards Wellness: October 2025

Hey there, BIC! I don't know about you, but sometimes, little moments of self-care sprinkled throughout the hustle-and-bustle of my day-to-day can have a meaningful impact. That's one of the reasons that lead me to put together these wellness boards; another was to add a layer of fun to self-care. If this sounds like something you might benefit from or if you're just interested in seeing how it goes, jump on in if, when and how you like.

More detailed information for wellness bingo can be found in the links below, but essentially, if you undertake a self-care activity described in one of the squares, you can mark off that square. Get 5 in a row horizontally, vertically or diagonally and you've got BINGO! 🎉 If you're up for sharing what you did for any of your wellness activities, please feel free to do so. 
 
Remember, be safe when engaging in the activities described, taking into consideration the condition of your self and surroundings (i.e., location, weather, your ability to perform the activities) and consult with a professional, including your health care professional, if and as needed. Make any adjustments or skip an activity, if and as needed.

I did take a picture of the sheet but I haven’t really looked at what I have done. But I have tried something new! Last night I taught myself how to hand knit pumpkins!

You are so talented @ather😍 I'm so impressed and in awe that you taught yourself how to hand knit these pumpkins - they look so soft and plush. I love the colors you chose, too! Beautiful!

@itsfi  awww thank you!! You are so sweet! The store in my town only had the white grey and blue. I didn’t have much of a choice! But they did turn out so cute. ☺️ I also made a blanket! It’s huge and heavy. It feels like a weighted blanket. It took way more yarn than I expected!

Woah!!! 😲 You made a blanket @ather?! That's incredible! It sounds amazing - warm and cozy, oh, so perfect for your Canadian winters! I bet it's beautiful, too. 😍

@itsfi  I did!!! It’s crazy. I’ve been using it when I’m on my coach! It’s so cozy!!! I feel like I am in my crafting era. If I see something I need to make it myself. Which has been great for my brain!!!

I thought I had cute Halloween things I could use for my stamps, turns out I don't 😒. So I used these cool moon ones instead. I started making them larger and decided I'd be lazy and use whatever size popped up. 

  •  Prioritize Myself- sometimes it's ok to be selfish. 
  •  Music Therapy- Concert, can't beat that!
  •  Work on Joy- I love organization. But if you looked at my room you wouldn't think so haha. I bought a lipstick organizer for my work chap sticks ( I either forget one or it goes through the washer). They used to sit in a bag but now I have them out where I should see everyday. Hopefully I remember to put them back ( I doubt it). I also really love photography. For years I've had a notebook where I put the ideas I want to shoot. Do you think I've done many? I have not. Maybe 2 and that was like 2022 or something. I bought a new notebook, a divided one ( I've been obsessed with those lately). And I've started putting them in there by their categories. It's reminded me about them. I've also used Chat gp to help my brain layout plans and make mood boards. It's a slow process, but I am actually getting very excited about it! This also falls into my quiet time. My pen is pushing the book up so 3 tabs are hidden.My pen is pushing the book up so 3 tabs are hidden.
  • Fall Face- I'm trying to remember to moisturize more often and mask. I also have done more full face looks lately. I found a foundation I really like, I just have to figure out how to get my nose to stop going oil slick with it.
  • Healthy Meal- Sometimes choosing to make something at home not fast food. 
  • Sleep 1st. I wanted to stay up and watch a movie after football last night, but it would have been around midnight after so I didn't. ( I tossed and turned until then anyways but I tried. )
  • Body Care- Putting lotion on my feet with warm cozy socks. And trying to cut back on soda. 
  • Quality Time- Went to a concert with mom, and spend time with my inside cats and my outside strays.
  • Hydrated- I bought a new Cirkul bottle because my other one is pretty old and gets left in the hot car a lot. This one is different than how I thought it would be. But I started using it, and I drank 8 cups of water at work the other day. 
  • Aromatherapy- Alternating between candle warming and wax melting.

@Samtian Youve hit so many squares so far!  Great job putting you and your wellness at the top priority!  I love the idea of journaling things too.... and I also often start my lists/journals/ideas and flutter out pretty quickly.  You may have given me an idea to use some of them....

These are some magnificent wellness activities, @Samtian! Yes, it is good to prioritize ourselves sometimes. Necessary, too. 👊🏼 

 

Oh, my nose & chin have been super oily of late too!! Primer & setting powder aren’t helping? 🤔 

Good for trying to get to bed earlier. It’s not easy especially if it’s not something you typically do, Love that you made an effort to try it.

October Wellness Bingo - Week 1

Here's what I've checked off so far:

💜 music therapy: I've been listening to a lot of folk lately - Doc Watson, Archie Fisher, Bellowhead, Lankum, Ye Vagabonds, etc. I'll try to remember to post some recommendations in the 🎶Song of the Day and Music Thread!🎶 💜 work on joy: I started my day today with kitty cuddles (with Fabian this time) and a gratitude journal entry. Couldn't ask for a better start to the day!

💜 Have a warm and cozy drink: I have been drinking lots of tea - I try to have some every day. I find it to be a great opportunity to have a little calm & mindful moment as I sip.

💜 have a healthy meal: Mom made chili tonight in the slow cooker (delicious!) So we are already getting into the spirit of cooler weather (even though today was quite warm).

💜 1 for you and 1 for me self care kits: I have always loved the idea of self care kits, and have made plans before to make one for myself or for loved ones, so I love this square! I decided to put together one for my mom as well as myself. I'm happy with how they both came out. Here is hers:

I gave it to her today, and she was very appreciative! I think she will really enjoy the book I picked (she loves dogs).

Howl's Moving Castle is one of my favorite books, and a favorite comfort reread. The Little Frog's Guides were a gift from my dad, and are full of adorable positive advice.

It all fit perfectly in this pretty box I found:

I still want to add a pair of fuzzy socks, but overall I'm happy with this! I'll keep it by my bed so it is in easy reach when I need it.

💜 practice gratitude: I made a journal entry of 3 things I'm grateful for today:

💜 seasonal fruits and veggies: it has been a great year for tomatoes in the garden, so we have been having a lot of those. My mom also included some snap peas from the garden in her (amazing) fried rice the other day. And she made wild grape jelly from foraged wild grapes again this year!

💜 stay hydrated: my reusable water bottle is always by my side, it really helps me to drink as much as I need to every day.

💜 aromatherapy: I have been enjoying both perfumes and scented candles, switching over a bit to more seasonal scents. I just finished a cute pumpkin-scented candle in a pumpkin-shaped container.

💜 revisit the Wellness Wheel: I looked up some info about the wellness wheel, and came up with some goals for each area that I want to work on this month (and going forward). I think the goals I set are good ones and hopefully realistic, so I'm looking forward to working on them.

@caitbird Whoo what a fantastic start! Nothing beats cat cuddles, anytime of the day! Howl's Moving Castle, ugh such a good book! I remember first reading that...almost 20 years ago haha yikes. Actually it might have been 20...anyways. If I could eat tomatoes everyday I'd be very happy.

Ahhhh, look at you go @caitbird. 🙌 You are off to an excellent start. I was just talking to a friend about pulling out the slow cooker - great time for it and I bet the house smelled amazing with that chili cooking! Those tomatoes from the garden look delicious. 🍅

 

Oooh, Fabian is striking a pose!! 😻 Love that you made your mom a self care kit, so fun - that blanket looks so comfy and cozy and will be perfect for snuggling with as you read, journal and sip on tea this fall!
