Sephora kids

Hey guys I just wanted to talk about the 8-13 year old girls at Sephora. Now I can see where theyโ€™re coming from like they see these beautiful influencers using products like drunk elephant and glow recipe and they just want to be like them. But also itโ€™s not ok for them to insult and be rude to not only employees but also other guests in Sephora. These kids are using products that they donโ€™t even need and their skin is going to be horrible by the time theyโ€™re 20. Not only are they rude to people but they also make messes in the store with testers while making โ€œ skin care smoothiesโ€ because of this some of the testers at my local Sephora and Ulta have been taken out. Another problem is products being taken out of the box and being used to make skin care smoothies. The problem with the testers being taken away is that when I want a product but I donโ€™t know if I will like it I wonโ€™t be able to tell because the testers are gone. Because of all of this we need to have some sort of security not letting anyone in 13 or younger. But thatโ€™s all.

Re: Sephora kids

I donโ€™t shop in the store but canโ€™t they just put up a sign, like the gas stations, that say no one under 16 without adult supervision?

Re: Sephora kids

What about the kids who clean up after themselves and are kind to the employees? Not all of them are bad and its not right to be mad at the ones who were raised right.

Re: Sephora kids

I totally aggre I started young at Sephora and my skin was terrible but I like the everdeed moisturizer itโ€™s for kids and great for kids skin

Re: Sephora kids

Hi! Coming from a kid who has been going to Sephora since I was 11 or 12 let me explain to you why I loved it. I know a lot of people just do it to look good, but I personally love expressing myself through my makeup! And even going to Sephora at 11 didnโ€™t mean I got the full face of makeup, I just sometimes got a new rare beauty blush or an eyebrow filler every now and then but only bc it was fun, not bc of influencers or the โ€œpreppiesโ€. Also I ALWAYS kept it clean and never โ€œleft my markโ€. Just wanted to share my opinion and experience just so u could see from the perspective of a former โ€œSephora kidโ€ according to TikTok and YouTube.#Sephora

Re: Sephora kids

Hi everyone! I am writing a story about this recent "Sephora kids" phenomenon and I would LOVE to interview some of you who have firsthand experience with this. If you work at Sephora, have a kid who loves Sephora, or have simply witnessed the kids in action, please reach out to me at mnvh@unc.edu if you have any comments or info that you are willing to pass on to me!  Thanks!

Re: Sephora kids

100%!! Now I avoid shopping at Sephora altogether. Itโ€™s such a stressful experience not knowing if youโ€™re going to get yelled at by some uncontrollable 10 yr old who has zero adult supervision and has a fit because you picked up the last Dior lip balm in rose gold.

Re: Sephora kids

@GracieMeyer Here is my opinion, (as a teenage girl who does love Sephora)

These Sephora kids are getting out of hand. I quickly moved away from my DE phase, but I look at it now and see how crazy I was to want products that cost so much! I strongly disagree with the whole โ€˜under 13 shouldnโ€™t be allowed at Sephoraโ€™ approach to the issue, though. I think any child at Sephora should be accompanied by an adult, such as a parent, sibling, or guardian. The adult can help them steer clear of harmful products and ingredients, or brands for mature skin.

DE testers do get really gross. Instead of removing testers altogether, I think there should be workers standing near brands with higher demand among young kids. This way if they see a child trying products and making โ€˜skincare smoothiesโ€™, they can stop the issue by redirecting them before they screw up their skin. Assisting people with testing products could be beneficial and make the other customers feel more comfortable and confident in the fact that the product they are trying hasnโ€™t been mixed or messed with.

Reply and tag me with what yโ€™all think!

Re: Sephora kids

The thing about that is a lot of these kids are NOT going to listen to redirection. Especially if theyโ€™ve already proven to be disrespectful to employees or other customers in the store.

Re: Sephora kids

What are " skin care smoothies " ? @GracieMeyer

Re: Sephora kids

Skincare smoothies are like products all together mixed itโ€™s really bad for your skin

Re: Sephora kids

Skin care smoothies are where people combine products usually on a moisturizer container and this obviously uses moisturizer
