@lexsinterlude start with a gentle liquid cleanser like First Aid Beauty Pure Skin Face Cleanser – Gentle Hydrating Cleanser

A BHA leave-on is essential.   I only rec Paula's Choice.  Sephora has Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant for Clear Skin start there.  The brand also makes 4 and 9%.

If you are suffering from oiliness, try innisfree Volcanic AHA Pore Clearing Clay Mask 3.38 oz/ 100 mL and oil blotting papers (Target makes nice ones).

You can also use a mechanical scrub.  I like Kiehl's Since 1851 Epidermal Re-Texturizing Micro-Dermabrasion 2.5 oz/ 75 mL but it might be too abrasive for some.

If the above does not work, ask a derm if you're a candidate for prescription strength Differin. If you don't respond to that, ask about Retin-A.

P.S.: there is an OTC Differin but I don't consider it that effective.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Re: blackheads/clogged pores

Hey, try using cleansing oil as the first step for your nighttime routine. I know using oil on your face might sound scary for breakouts, but trust me on this one. Blackheads are just built-up oil, and cleansing oil can actually get rid of them because oil collects oil! Just slap on 1-2 drops of the oil and give your dry face a nice massage. makeup and blackheads vanish like poof! I do this every single night for about a minute, and it feels even better than a fancy spa treatment! Give it a shot!

Re: blackheads/clogged pores

Hi @lexsinterlude. What have you tried so far? Do you have anything in your skincare routine that contains Salicylic Acid? That would help exfoliate and clear out your pores.

Also, it would be a good idea to check the rest of your routine for comedogenic ingredients (pore-block/pimple-inducing). If there are any of these ingredients, then removing them from your routine might help reduce blackheads and keep them from becoming too troublesome.
