Sun Damage/discoloration

Ok, I have a few dark spots from sun damage. what can I use to lighten them or eliminate them all together? I really only use BB or CC cream because my complexion is not bad and I would like to keep it that way lol! I do have dry skin fyi. Thank in advance for any advice!!

Re: Sun Damage/discoloration

Hi @erichardson08,

I also have stubborn sun spots and completely regret spending so much time without sunscreen when I was younger. For starters, wear sunscreen everyday to prevent more sunspots from appearing. I'm currently loving the FARMACY - Green Screen Daily Environmental Protector Broad Spectrum MineralSunscreen SPF 30 with Ech...because it doesn't leave a white cast on my medium skin tone.

Using skin brightening products like a serum is a great start. I really like the CAUDALIE - Vinoperfect Radiance Serum.  You should also look into microdermabrasion or chemical peels, as they can help with smoothing sun spots. For an at home treatment, I love the PHILOSOPHY - The Microdelivery Resurfacing Peel. It has lactic acid to resurface your skin.

Happy holidays!

Penelope

Re: Sun Damage/discoloration

A vitamin C serum might help them fade, but it is going to be very difficult for them to disappear without professional help. I had a sunspot also that showed up around five years ago. I used a vitamin C serum/retinol for years and used full spectrum sunscreen every day (rain or shine) and it was still there. It was super stubborn! Eventually, I had a few IPL sessions and the sunspots flaked off. You can try topical solutions initially and observe if you can see any results.

I've had these lasered off at a medi-spa before.  It does work, but you'll need to really wear more sunscreen than just your BB cream to keep them away.  As far as creams... I'm told by my dermatologist that my prescription retinol (I believe you can get the same one over the counter in the US) might lighten them as well, though I'm not seeing that personally.
