Pimple gone, red spot left behind.

What is a good product to help fade/speed up the process of these flat, red spots? I don’t have a ton so don’t need an all over product, just spot treatment! Thanks!

Re: Pimple gone, red spot left behind.

If it's a red spot, that's called post-inflammatory erythema (PIE). I highly recommend doing a search (on Google, not here) so you can get more info on what it is. Basically due to the trauma from the breakout, the blood vessels are now concentrated in one place. Unfortunately the only known treatments at this time are: 1) laser and 2) time.

It is unfortunately different from post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) which are the darker brown spots that vitamin C, AHA, hydroquinone can help fade.

You can tell whether you have PIE or PIH by pressing down. If it fades momentarily and comes back, you have PIE. If it doesn't, it's PIH. Since you state the spots are red, then I suspect you have PIE. I only get PIE and can attest that only time has helped. I have a skincare routine I'm pretty happy with that has AHA, retinol, vitamin C and even microdermabrasion...it still has taken almost 2 years for a red mark from a nasty cyst to fade.

Look for products that contain high amounts of L-Ascorbic Acid, niacinamide, or licorice root. I’ve had great luck with T’iam My C Source, which is available from Jolse or WIshtrend.
