Hello Lovelies! As we make our resolutions and check them twice, I thought we could start a skincare version of the Weekly Challenge. Many of us wanted to use more masks, shop our stash and focus on our Skin so hopefully this thread will be an inspiration to do just that. Join us with pictures and comments down below.

Masking Spreadsheet Info

Hello every, @eshoe and I are very happy to present the BIC Masking Challenge Spreadsheet. The idea is to have an easily searchable database of masks and reviews as a reference point when we are considering our next purchase. Data integrity was important to us so instead of everyone inputing data directly into the spreadsheet where theoretically information could be deleted or edited we have the questionnaire. It should take no longer then 1-2 minutes with the option for a more detailed review (which you can copy from your post on this thread).

Remember the idea is not to replace this thread. I personally love reading, commenting and interacting with all you amazing women here and that shouldn’t change. This would just be on top of that. Hopefully the more people that partake in this, the larger database of information we’ll have for reference. It will be extra effort in the beginning but then we would only need to input any new mask we’ve tried.

 Incase you need some help to filter/search results, try this :-

Search Specific Word or Phrase —> Edit -> Find and Replace -> Search Word

Filter/Organize by Columns --> Data -> Create a Filter -> Select Options

Choose mask, take picture (with mask on or before), place mask on face, relax and dream of the next Sephora purchase you want to make, remove mask for healthier skin.

I love a few things from the brand and saw the mask on clearance at TJ Maxx and it's become another favourite.  I do need to remember to use it as an actual mask and let it sit a little longer sometimes to get the full benefits though.  It's quite nice and if I see it on sale again I'll pick up another for sure.  I hope you enjoy it from your box!!

I've seen the Leneige mask getting so much love lately but it just doesn't have the same staying power as the Bite!

I went with a black pearl and brightening theme this morning for "B" week, and layered the Shangpree Gold Black Pearl Hydrogel Eye Mask under the Entel Black Pearl Sheet Mask.

The Entel Black Pearl Sheet Mask is a new one to me. I had never heard of the brand until I found it in a Korean market over the holidays, but I have since found these sheet masks in variety packs on Amazon.  The reverse side of the pouch is predominantly in Korean with a few sections, including the ingredients (posted in spoiler below) in English. I’m pleased with the shorter ingredients list, but slightly bummed that added fragrance is included, even if it is closer to the end of the list.  Notable ingredients include niacinamide (brightening) and sodium hyaluronate (a form of hyaluronic acid, known for its hydrating properties), pearl extract (brightening) and licorice root extract (brightening). 

The mask has a very subtle hanbang scent to it plus something else I can’t identify but I suspect that it is from the added perfume.  The scent is very faint and fades away - there's no noticeable scent when the mask is on. I suspect  perfume might have been added to quiet down the hanbang scent which is too bad. I don’t mind hanbang scented products, but I know it’s not for everyone.  A very quick and brief aside – “hanbang” is traditional Korean holistic medicine, which has its influences in traditional Chinese medicine, and is focused on herbs and herbal remedies.  Popular ingredients include ginseng, bamboo, green tea, chaga mushroom, and lotus root.

I left the mask on for 30 minutes, but I probably could have kept it on for another 10-15 as the sheet mask still had some essence after I removed it. My skin felt soft and moisturized as I patted in the remaining essence to help with its absorption. When I looked in the mirror, my complexion looked fresh and bright. I think these sheet masks would make good daily masks, especially for the price. These get an A-/B+ from me.

The Shangpree Black Gold Hydrogel Eye Masks  did a great job of brightening and hydrating my under eye area! I wish I would have started using these gel masks earlier. They are very delicate but are sizeable so that my upper cheek area, which is prone to dryness, gets some extra hydration at the same time.  The jar holds 60 pairs of gel masks and includes another cover between the lid and the eye masks and a small spoon-spatula to help scoop out the delicate eye masks. I usually store the container upside down so that the essence reaches the gel masks at the top of the container. The eye gels are great for before makeup application as they add a subtle radiance to the under eye area. This was my first time using them but I’m really pleased with these eye gel masks. I’ll continue to use them and update if there are any changes to how I feel about them but for now, I think they are “A” quality.

Thanks @Shosh85!  Hanbang definitely has a specific scent to it - some more potent than others. 😉 I prefer the more subtly scented products but I really like the ingredients so I'm probably more inclined to put up with a stronger scent too. I'll have to look through my sheet masks to see what others I may have that fall within the hanbang category. I almost said "I'll have to see what other hanbang products are out there" but caught myself. Gonna stick to my low buy so I'll shop my stash for them. 😉

Same here @veronika23! Eye gels sounded nice conceptually to me but I only used them occasionally. These had a cooling sensation about them that I liked too; relaxing. The test will be how often I reach for them. 😃
