@WinglessOne @lmaster Macaroons!!! I made them from scratch once and it was a multi-day process. The eggs sitting at room temp, powdered vs liquid flavor/color...they turned out but it was unbelievably difficult. I wasn’t even aware of Ladurée when I went 😕 Still haven’t tried them, but some day!

@eshoe I will say Laduree's macarons were even better back in the late 80s when I first visited France. They're still fantastic, though! They now ship to the US through Goldbelly, so if you ever want to blow lots of money on some super tasty treats... not to enable but, I'm just sayin'. 😈 I ate macarons at several different patisseries in France and there are great ones out there, so it's not like Laduree is the only source of greatness. But still, theirs have remained my favorites.

And omg, the effort involved in making these little finicky things from scratch... it's not enough that they taste good. They MUST have good "feet" (the wonderful crust on the bottom of each half) and the correct airy texture. My first couple attempts didn't product good enough feet, which meant the dough texture was off. I think anyone who bakes should attempt to make macarons at least once, if for nothing else than to truly appreciate these cookies. 😄

Now see, I will probably be exploring Goldbelly all night, tonight. Plenty of time to go back and forth on them, thank you for the (very enabling) suggestion😉

@PrettyPaint I don't know if Biobelle has ended Afterparty for good, but it hasn't been available at their site or Ulta for a while now. Neither have some of their other older masks. 😞 I never got to try their red wine mask... I keep forgetting its name... Happy Hour? Anyway, I hope I can still find it somewhere! And I hope you can get more of the old masks before they're gone!

@WinglessOne Aww that's too bad that they are possibly discontinuing some of the older varieties. I just went through my stash to see if I could find Happy Hour, but maybe I never picked that one up either!

This sounds like a stellar mask, @WinglessOne. I like your ‘front-load’ assessment; first time I’ve heard it said quite like that! It is disappointing when so much that is good takes a back seat to cutting costs. A few others ( @Shosh85 I recall) noted that the tencel material had changed over time, too.

@eshoe Yeah, the sheet has definitely changed. 😞 It seems Biobelle has cut corners to reduce expense. I could be wrong about that, of course, since I know nothing about their cost model. But I wonder how much money they save with the new sheet. Hmm.

Things like this make me want to study cosmetic chemistry and learn a lot more about product formulations. I'm always curious of how different a product would perform if certain ingredients were omitted, increased, or reduced, and exactly what kinds of chemical reactions are created or avoided via certain formulations. Like I really need more educational outlets 😄 ... I'm constantly in learn mode.

This is one of BioBelle’s star sheet masks in my mind, @WinglessOne. ♥️ The ingredients list on this one is really quite extraordinary. 😍 It’s sad that their original lineup of sheet masks seems to be fading away. 😔

@itsfi I keep hoping they'll re-release some of their golden oldies, though they'd probably use their newer type of sheet. And rebooted masks wouldn't be worth buying (to me) if Biobelle reformulated them with lower amounts of the best ingredients. Sigh...

@WinglessOne, the material on any new or updated version of their originals would be different as well. 😔 I would occasionally see their My Diary of Beauty Secrets set which had most if not all of their original masks, but the set seems to be out of stock everywhere for some time now, other than perhaps eBay. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’ll make the most of my stash of them.

Slowly catching up on posting about some masks. This was from Y / B / Forgotten Wonders and checks all the themes from that week (though one may be a bit of a stretch - ha!), with a focus on peaches. 🍑

Both these masks fall squarely within @missjeanie's forgotten wonders theme, though it's less that they are unloved and more that they, along with the peach version of the LANEIGE - Lip Glowy Balm, have just been simply forgotten (momentarily, at least) in a sea of masks and lip balms - surprising, I know. Hopefully that happens less frequently and with fewer masks and lip balms, as I whittle down the stash, slowly but surely.

Y is for yummy, as in the scent on these peach products, with the Formula 10.0.6 No Stress Zone Skin Defending Cream Mask Peach + Seaweed having the most prominent and lasting peach scent. The first time I used this mask I was a little apprehensive of the combination of peach and seaweed, with more concern over the seaweed ingredient - my skin doesn't always get on well with seaweed in skincare; it does fine, however, with this Formula 10.0.6 mask. The light, creaminess of this gel-cream feels refreshing, comforting and lightly hydrating on the skin. Having used it for it during a few seasons, I find that it works better on my dehydrated combo skin in the warmer months than it does in the winter when my skin leans more dehydrated-dry and then, this isn't hydrating enough on its own. I prefer using this one as an overnight mask over a 15-minute wash off, and I plan to use it as such as I work my way through using it up. Forgotten wonder, no more; at least for the time being. 😉

My "B" mask choice of the Berrisom Cocktail Recipe Mask Peach Crush was also inspired by @missjeanie, namely her creative pairings of masks and drinks. My refresher here though was limited to this soft, cotton sheet mask and the runny, slightly artificial peach scented, thin, gel-like essence that it is saturates it. Aside from the alcohol (4th ingredient listed) and added fragrance (last ingredient), the ingredients list in this mask is very nice (and something I'd love to have in an essence or serum), though I suspect volume-wise, many of these goodies are in small doses in this mask - extracts of peach (500 ppm), green tea, centella asiatica, licorice root, rosemary leaf, skullcap, blackberry, cranberry and elderberry; glycerin; and sodium hyaluronate. Results-wise, my skin felt lightly hydrated and looked and felt refreshed. This seems like it would be a nice one for normal, oily or combination skin and probably better suited for the warmer seasons.

@itsfi I am so happy to see this Berrisom reviewed. I almost bought it recently and decided to hold off. I think I might go back and try it, now. There are at least a couple of ‘flavors’ that look good:)

@eshoe, which “flavors” were you thinking about picking up? I’ve tried all but one and will likely get to it later this summer. Pina colada smells the best to me. 🍍🥥 💛🤍

Aghhh I’ve been on too many sites this weekend, @itsfi! I know the Piña Colada one, and the peach🍑 for sure. I’m not a big fan of motijos, although I thought mint would be delicious and they are very pretty🤷🏻‍♀️
