๐ŸŒฑ Korean Beauty: East Meets West-Skincare Edition ๐ŸŒฑ

As part of my New Year's resolution, I promised myself I would explore the world of Korean beauty a lot more than I have. I would love this to be a place to discuss and share your experience!

I am currently practicing the "7 Skin Method" every morning. This will help hydrate dry skin as well as balance sebum production is oily skin. I was a grease factory and am now very normal. This method is simply applying a hydrating toner 7 times in a row. You can use a cotton round, but I prefer to apply 5/6 drops to the palm of my hand and press it into my skin. I am currently using:

  • Missha First Treatment Essence 2X ($49)
  • Amore Pacific Single Extract Vintage Essence 1X ($145)
  • ElishaCoy Moist Up Hyalurone Ampoule Essence 4X ($10)

Results are immediate! My skin is plump and glowing. Now, I could NEVER give up my Good Genes and Luna, but this will definitely take the place of some very expensive skincare products I use like my Vintner's Daughter. I would love to hear about Korean Beauty products you have discovered. I'm all for spending in the name of great skin! โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ

@fieldsofclover

If all you're putting on is powder, what about a powder sunscreen? Colorescience immediately comes to mind (ulta used to carry it, but I'm not seeing it now that I'm looking for it...whomp whomp...) but I know I've seen a couple of others too that I can't think of right off the bat.

Though I am wondering how effective *just* a layer of powder would be...so maybe it's not the best option after all ๐Ÿ˜‹

Re: ๐ŸŒฑ Korean Beauty: East Meets West-Skincare Edition ๐ŸŒฑ

@RGbrown Yeah I started out thinking maybe I should switch back to a powder foundation and find one with SPF, but I don't think I would ever really trust it to do the whole job.

I might still go back to powder coverage but I try to consider any makeup SPF a bonus haha โ˜€๏ธ

Re: ๐ŸŒฑ Korean Beauty: East Meets West-Skincare Edition ๐ŸŒฑ

Any thoughts on May Coop Raw Sauce? I bought it for $20 at my TJMaxx today but I don't know much about it.

I didn't really notice a difference when I used it tbh......

I didn't really notice a difference when I used it tbh... but I only got a sample size when I first started practicing the Korean skincare regimen. I do remember loving how it smelled though lol

Re: ๐ŸŒฑ Korean Beauty: East Meets West-Skincare Edition ๐ŸŒฑ

Its a great burst of hydration, the alcohol is under 3% of the formula and it doesn't dry me out so I'm okay with it @makeitup305

RE: Re: ๐ŸŒฑ Korean Beauty: East Meets West-Skincare Edition ๐ŸŒฑ

Thanks for letting me know. I'd seen it before but the alcohol held me back. Glad to know there's not much in there.

Re: RE: Re: ๐ŸŒฑ Korean Beauty: East Meets West-Skincare Edition ๐ŸŒฑ

Its 97% Maple Acer Water meaning that all the other ingredients, including Alcohol can only equal to 3% @makeitup305.

Re: ๐ŸŒฑ Korean Beauty: East Meets West-Skincare Edition ๐ŸŒฑ

There are some people who react to the alcohol in Raw Sauce so if you're sensitive to that, it's something to consider. Personally, I love Raw Sauce and found it to be a nice boost of hyrdration in my morning routine.

Sorry if this is an easy answer a few pages back, but whatโ€™s the general recommendation for SPF? Any of you have one you really love? Without realizing it Iโ€™ve pretty much switched all my skincare to K Beauty and I realize Iโ€™m missing any spf in my new moisturizers, want to get covered. tia! ๐Ÿ™‚

RE: ๐ŸŒฑ Korean Beauty: East Meets West-Skincare Edition ๐ŸŒฑ

Absolutely love the SuperGoop Sunscreen Mousse. Goes on super light. I use it daily under my makeup. It is a must for me, living in South Florida. Works well in humidity and holds up on my combination skin.

Re: RE: ๐ŸŒฑ Korean Beauty: East Meets West-Skincare Edition ๐ŸŒฑ

I just picked this one up! @KrishAtl it's awesome! I also ordered the Neogen and am waiting for that to arrive

The highest is 50... anything higher than that is pointle...

The highest is 50... anything higher than that is pointless because they dont offer anymore sun protection even though the number is higher.

RE: ๐ŸŒฑ Korean Beauty: East Meets West-Skincare Edition ๐ŸŒฑ

In terms of SPF, I look for any product that is a minimum of SPF 50. Bare minerals also has tinted moisturizer that is light weight on the skin but with a decent SPF in it.

Re: RE: ๐ŸŒฑ Korean Beauty: East Meets West-Skincare Edition ๐ŸŒฑ

I recommend the NeoGen SPF. Love it! It doesn't give a milky sheen but does give a subtle glow, and it smells nice and citrusy.

Re: RE: ๐ŸŒฑ Korean Beauty: East Meets West-Skincare Edition ๐ŸŒฑ

Oh, I've been curious about the Neogen SPF for a while! Do you find it hydrating at all? Do you think it would be good for sensitive skin? Also, do you use the US / EU Neogen Sunscreen or the Korean Neogen Sun Cream?

Wishtrend has free shipping on the new Klairs unscented toner if anyone is interested.

Fragrance/essential oils in Kbeauty. I started down the Kbeauty rabbit hole looking for sunscreen but I've been surprised by how many products contain fragrance. I saw that Klairs is coming out with a sensitive skin toner which I intend to pick up but would love other recommendations. I'm especially sensitive to citrus and mint.

Re: ๐ŸŒฑ Korean Beauty: East Meets West-Skincare Edition ๐ŸŒฑ

@GingerMelody I find all of my CosRX products to be blissfully scent-free.  I can also tolerate Son and Park Beauty Water.  Considering your sensitivities are my only tolerances, my suggestions have to stop there.  ๐Ÿ˜„

Re: ๐ŸŒฑ Korean Beauty: East Meets West-Skincare Edition ๐ŸŒฑ

@sprocketta This is the project that unchained me from my futile search for foundations! Come be free and roam the land of budget K-beauty and BB creams! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐ŸŒฟ

Re: ๐ŸŒฑ Korean Beauty: East Meets West-Skincare Edition ๐ŸŒฑ

Thanks @fieldsofclover.  My head is already spinning!  My sis loves K beauty and I've looked at Soko Glam, but looks like I have a ton to learn.  Joining this group!

Re: ๐ŸŒฑ Korean Beauty: East Meets West-Skincare Edition ๐ŸŒฑ

@sprocketta Here's an abbreviated version...

The good: K-beauty is effective without having to be expensive! I think everyone who hangs out in this thread has some kind of story about how experimenting with skincare routine has changed their approach to makeup and self-care.

The bad: The learning curve can seem steep at first. The wide availability of affordable skincare is also driven, at some level, by the shadow of (South) Korean beauty standards, which can be even more suffocating than Western ones. So caveat emptor, just like here.

The ugly: @darlyndar is the most lovely and fantastic enabler you'll ever meet, so it's ok if you have to keep your wallet away from her enthusiasm ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
