๐ŸŒฑ Korean Beauty: East Meets West-Skincare Edition ๐ŸŒฑ

As part of my New Year's resolution, I promised myself I would explore the world of Korean beauty a lot more than I have. I would love this to be a place to discuss and share your experience!

I am currently practicing the "7 Skin Method" every morning. This will help hydrate dry skin as well as balance sebum production is oily skin. I was a grease factory and am now very normal. This method is simply applying a hydrating toner 7 times in a row. You can use a cotton round, but I prefer to apply 5/6 drops to the palm of my hand and press it into my skin. I am currently using:

  • Missha First Treatment Essence 2X ($49)
  • Amore Pacific Single Extract Vintage Essence 1X ($145)
  • ElishaCoy Moist Up Hyalurone Ampoule Essence 4X ($10)

Results are immediate! My skin is plump and glowing. Now, I could NEVER give up my Good Genes and Luna, but this will definitely take the place of some very expensive skincare products I use like my Vintner's Daughter. I would love to hear about Korean Beauty products you have discovered. I'm all for spending in the name of great skin! โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ

Re: ๐ŸŒฑ Korean Beauty: East Meets West-Skincare Edition ๐ŸŒฑ

I do and I love it. I use it over sheet masks, facial oils and eye creams. The jade feels lovely, because it is a 'cool' stone so provides some de-puffing effects. I've recently gotten into facial massage and I find the Jade Roller doesn't provide quite enough pressure. If I press firmly the stone pops out. That could be an issue with my roller specifically, but looking at it I think its a design flaw. Having said that I got it as a gift and I would happily still purchase it. I really LOVE it on my neck and I think you will love it too @darlyndar. Let us know how you like it!!

Re: ๐ŸŒฑ Korean Beauty: East Meets West-Skincare Edition ๐ŸŒฑ

Thank you @Aaliaa! Iโ€™m looking forward to sheet masking days. Iโ€™ll be leaving this at my bedside so it becomes a night time ritual.

Re: ๐ŸŒฑ Korean Beauty: East Meets West-Skincare Edition ๐ŸŒฑ

@darlyndar I think @Aaliaa has one. Nordstrom has a second brand that's backordered but available for in-store pickup here so I might look at it. Eventually I want to get one of the Herbivore rose quartz ones.

Re: ๐ŸŒฑ Korean Beauty: East Meets West-Skincare Edition ๐ŸŒฑ

@fieldsofclover I saw that one! I donโ€™t know what the difference is, though. Iโ€™ll definitely read up on it. I also want to get into dry brushing. It seems very beneficial. The only concern I have is my self tan. Lol. I tan weekly and that would make it last a couple days, at best. ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

Re: ๐ŸŒฑ Korean Beauty: East Meets West-Skincare Edition ๐ŸŒฑ

@darlyndar It looks like dark jade, not the pretty translucent kind, but it's also $40 less... I might not bother, I already know I want the other one.

I started dry brushing years ago! I should get back into it. I think even if you did it twice a week (like, the day before you tan and beforehand on your tanning day) you'd get some of the benefits. It's great for lymphatic drainage, which was something that really improved my health a few years back.

Re: ๐ŸŒฑ Korean Beauty: East Meets West-Skincare Edition ๐ŸŒฑ

@fieldsofclover Thatโ€™s exactly what I was thinking. I would dry brush for two days before I tan. I saw a brush on the Nordstrom website. It had a removable handle so I can reach my back. Hmmmmm.....๐Ÿง๐Ÿง๐Ÿง

Re: ๐ŸŒฑ Korean Beauty: East Meets West-Skincare Edition ๐ŸŒฑ

@darlyndar The less expensive Nordstrom ones are about what I paid at Whole Paycheck for mine... the detachable handle is definitely nice to have, I do kinda wish mine had the hand strap so I'm glad that's a more common thing now.

Re: ๐ŸŒฑ Korean Beauty: East Meets West-Skincare Edition ๐ŸŒฑ

@fieldsofclover LOLOLOLOL I thought I was the only one who called it Whole Paycheck.......

๐ŸŒฑ Korean Beauty: East Meets West-Skincare Edition ๐ŸŒฑ

I recently purchased the Nature Republic Collagen BB Cream, and I've been absolutely blown away by how perfect it looks on my skin. I think it's one of my new favorites if not my #1, and it's only $14 on Amazon.

RE: ๐ŸŒฑ Korean Beauty: East Meets West-Skincare Edition ๐ŸŒฑ

Pyungkang Yul is coming out with an eye cream! This has me ridiculously excited.

Re: RE: ๐ŸŒฑ Korean Beauty: East Meets West-Skincare Edition ๐ŸŒฑ

Where did you see the eye cream info @darlyndar?

Re: RE: ๐ŸŒฑ Korean Beauty: East Meets West-Skincare Edition ๐ŸŒฑ

@darlyndar Did you know they make shampoo and shower gel too? And body oil (separate from the facial oil)... I'm going to order one of those soon.

Re: ๐ŸŒฑ Korean Beauty: East Meets West-Skincare Edition ๐ŸŒฑ

@darlyndar What are you thinking of the Tarte Knockout so far? I've heard it's a... not a dupe, but an acceptable alternative for people who don't want to put down the coin for Good Genes ๐Ÿค”

RE: Re: ๐ŸŒฑ Korean Beauty: East Meets West-Skincare Edition ๐ŸŒฑ

@fieldsofover you can try good genes with a ceramic slip for $28 to see if itโ€™s worth it

Re: RE: Re: ๐ŸŒฑ Korean Beauty: East Meets West-Skincare Edition ๐ŸŒฑ

I recommend that. The Good Genes samples is a great size to give it a good try out. Also it works out to the Ceramic Slip for free. Having said that, do I remember you stocking up on loads of Good Genes samples when they had a 100 point perk @fieldsofclover??

Re: RE: Re: ๐ŸŒฑ Korean Beauty: East Meets West-Skincare Edition ๐ŸŒฑ

@Aaliaa Ya, I have 7 or 8 squirreled away ๐Ÿฟ๏ธ I might try tacking it onto the end of my night routine since the Ren oil I'm using is somewhat Luna-like.

Re: ๐ŸŒฑ Korean Beauty: East Meets West-Skincare Edition ๐ŸŒฑ

@fieldsofclover I just bought it. I've stayed away from Good Genes because my skin hasn't responded too well to glycolic or salicylic acid in the past and I didn't want to spend all that money for it to just aggravate my skin. I've only tried it once so far but I thought it did a good job with exfoliation and it didn't aggravate my skin- it tingled but my skin didn't get overtly red and the next day I didn't have any breakouts or irritation. I followed it with PY Essence toner and I've been using hydrating toners these last few days. I probably won't use it more than once or twice a week though, at least for now.

Re: ๐ŸŒฑ Korean Beauty: East Meets West-Skincare Edition ๐ŸŒฑ

@fieldsofclover I spent the last 10 minutes responding, for it to magically disappear. Not fun!

Anyway...Knockout. I can see why itโ€™s โ€œdupedโ€ for GG. I love Knockout, BUT...for my skin type. Since I have zero sensitivity, I can use this in the morning with little tingle and zero redness. I apply our beloved Pyungkang Yul Mist Toner and Moisture Serum overtop and I look like I just applied GG without the shine. Thatโ€™s the main reason why I use GG at night. Now, for someone who IS sensitive or even normal, Knockout would be best used at night because of redness. Apply moisturizing sleeping mask and youโ€™ll wake up with GG skin.

Knockout has allowed me to incorperate other products into my routine that I loved but couldnโ€™t find the room to use. Now, I Luna and GG nightly, 4 times a week. Those mornings I follow with the 7 skin and Moisture Serum. The other 3 nights, I concentrate on vitamin c and intense moisture. Those mornings, I use Knockout, followed by a 3 skin and Moisture Serum.

I felt like my skin has reached a plateau with acids. Knockout has definitely helped my skin jump over that hurdle and has allowed it to become even more glass-like...which is the ultimate goal! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™

Re: ๐ŸŒฑ Korean Beauty: East Meets West-Skincare Edition ๐ŸŒฑ

@darlyndar Thanks for the breakdown! It was super helpful to read your thoughts.

Re: ๐ŸŒฑ Korean Beauty: East Meets West-Skincare Edition ๐ŸŒฑ

@darlyndar  Nice! Like you, I have historically been oily by design and became normal through hard work and a lot of prayer ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ My face is the only part of my body that isn't weirdly sensitive to random things so I think I may give this a try after using up my Good Genes minis. I like the Ren tonic but I think I need something a little stronger.

Re: ๐ŸŒฑ Korean Beauty: East Meets West-Skincare Edition ๐ŸŒฑ

@fieldsofclover I definitely think youโ€™ll love this. I see a difference in my skinโ€™s texture and overall appearance with every use. I literally just placed an order on OhLolly for the Pyunkang Yul cotton squares. I do love Shiseido but they fall apart on me. These seem to be more sturdy. For $4.50, I bought 2 boxes and am excited to try them out! I also bought a toner for a third step of cleansing. I wear a boat load of makeup at work, along with body makeup. I needed something that would take off EVERYTHING. I usually use the Simple micellar wipes but want something that wonโ€™t dry out my dรฉcolletage. Itโ€™s extra, I know, but itโ€™s all just so affordable! ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜ฌ
