Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Tang brings back childhood memories @Shosh85. I donโ€™t mind the scent but I always felt that Tang tasted fake.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

L is for L'arvore ... this one was gifted to me from the lovely @eshoe ๐Ÿ˜Š

L'arvore Shea Butter Natural Source Sheet Mask

This is a thin cotton sheet mask that was saturated with a clear watery serum. It had a sweet and fruity kind of scent that I thought smelled like honey dew melon - which was great, but just wasn't what I was expecting and threw me off guard a little. ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐ŸˆThe fit was good and was just a little too long at the chin. It adhered well, except for the extra length at the chin that needed some re-patting a few times, and was comfortable to wear the half hour I had it on. When I removed it I patted in the remaining serum - there was the slightest bit of tack that disappeared after about 15 minutes. My face felt refreshed, a little plump, moisturized and soft.

This mask turned out great and I'd love to use again! I'll definitely be repurchasing this one in the future!

I forgot to take a picture of the ingredients and this is all I could find online ๐Ÿ‘‡

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@Shosh85 honeydew melon scent sounds fabulous!!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@lmaster  I loved it! I was pleasantly surprised! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Those results sound good @Shosh85! Interesting about the scent; not what I would expect.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@itsfi  Yup, it was definitely not expected, but I enjoyed it! I actually think I'd prefer a honeydew scent over a Shea butter one, so it worked out great! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@Shosh85  Sounds like a great mask!!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@ather  It was! The unexpected fruity scent was really nice! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@Shosh85 I'm glad this worked well for you! I can imagine expecting a shea butter scent and getting a honeydew surprise instead. But sounds like it still smelled great. ๐Ÿ™‚

I think I also have this one, but I haven't used it yet because I wasn't sure if the rosemary extract was truly that vs. rosemary oil; normally I wouldn't question that so much, but it's pretty high on this ingredients list. If you smelled honeydew and no rosemary, that tells me there's likely no rosemary oil, hooray! Based on your review, I look forward to trying this one myself now.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@WinglessOne  Well, I'll be interested to hear what you think this one smells like! ๐Ÿ˜‚ I'm thinking of buying it again soon, just so I can see if it smells the same. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Are there masks that say extract, but really have oil?

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@Shosh85  I doubt "extract" in most masks is really "oil," but I get nervous when I see one listed among the first 3 ingredients. Rosemary leaf extract is good stuff (anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, flavonoids); it does contain a wee bit of oil, but the extract isn't nearly as sensitizing (for me) as straight-up rosemary leaf oil listed as an ingredient. Citrus peel extracts make me even more suspicious, since the peel is where you'll find a fruit's oil. Then there's citrus fruit extract which, I dunno, could come from any part of the fruit (including the peel) for all I know... I looked up the citrus fruit extract process a couple years ago but don't remember it now, so that'll go on my ever-growing learnin' list.

Meanwhile, I've been doing lots of repeat masking lately, mostly anti-inflammatory and highly moisturizing masks, since I've bumped retinol usage up from every other night to nightly. But now I reeeeally wanna try this shea butter mask ๐Ÿ˜„ โ€”and I do happen to have a LuLuLun melon mask that might smell like honeydew (haven't tried it yet), so I could compare scents. You've inspired me!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@WinglessOne  Hmmm, I've never thought of researching the extract process! I'll have to make a note to look that up soon! So much to learn!

Its a good idea to compare it with another honeydew mask - I should've done that! I'll be super curious if you pick up the same  scent, or if my senses were just off ๐Ÿ˜‚

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@Shosh85 I remember @lmaster loving a mask from this brand, so I took the cue from her:) Happy to hear this one was good for your skin, I donโ€™t remember the scent, but it is so strange when you are expecting one thing and itโ€™s entirely different. You are such a good sport๐Ÿ˜Š

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Thanks again @eshoe! I had never heard of the brand, and now I want to look and see what else they have! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Hi all! After a lengthy absence I am back!! Unfortunately I have experienced the affects of covid (in my social circle/immediate family and TBD if personally) and wasn't really feeling up to doing much, but seeing as we're going to be in this new normal for a while, I figure may as well try to incorporate at least a little of the "old normal" hahaha.

And right on time - my masking yesterday seemed to be right on theme!

Last night I used the MILK MAKEUP Watermelon Brightening Face Mask 1 oz/ 30 g . Not sure if anyone else has used this one, but if so, then you know the feeling of disappointment that it smells nothing like watermelon. It has the faintest clay aroma which I didn't notice or mind, but certainly was not what I was expecting.

Application was easy thanks to the stick and was mess free. It glides on a bubblegum pink color (on my skin tone) and turns a little more dusty rose as it dries. The instructions says leave on for 5-10 mins. Generally I like to leave brigyhtening masks on for longer, but the reviews indicated that some people experienced staining that looked like a sunburn, so I followed instructions and removed after 10ish mins.

It didn't dry down totally so I still was able to move my face and rinsed off very easily with warm water. Some people stated that it stained their towels, so I used a pink towel to dry my face after removal, so I can't attest as to whether or not that may be an issue.

Results - as with any brightening product, I'm skeptical that any long term results can be seen in one use. That being said, the clay did help control my oil, and my skin did look glowy and bright. It felt pretty soft, and it still feels really nice and soft today.

Final verdict - I would use it again and liked the results! That being said - I will reserve this one for travel. I get similar results from other clay masks, but I don't like travelling with them because they're messy. This is the perfect travel clay mask for short term softness and brightness, but wish it had at least a bit of watermelon scent ๐Ÿ˜ž

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@cianni so happy to see you back!! Unfortunately this milk mask was a major fail for me!! The one I bought was dried out and after I opened it up,, it broke into chunks ๐Ÿ˜ฃ

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@cianni, so good to see you! The Milk watermelon mask stick was a good travel companion for me ... when that was something I did. ๐Ÿ˜‰ All in due time though. It does come in handy for trips.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Good to see you again @cianni! So sorry to hear about covid in your circle. Hopefully masking brings you a little joy and normal. Isn't it frustrating when masks don't smell like they are supposed to?! At least the results sound nice. Hope you stay safe and sane. It all still seems weird.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@cianni  Great to hear your thoughts on this one. Iโ€™ve been meaning to try it. I might wait to try it when travel opens up again!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@cianni we have missed you! So sorry to hear your news, I hope everyone is back to feeling normal again quickly.

Yes, this one would be good for travel, and ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿผthat will be something soon again!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@cianni   It's great to see you around! I am so sorry to hear your news! I hope you and the people close to you get better soon!

I'm happy to hear you're liking the mask stick! I definitely agree it would've been better with a yummy watermelon scent, but I love that it's perfect for travel! ๐Ÿ‰
