Thank you @Aaliaa for starting this thread, and giving us a place to share our love for masks💗
I hear ya, @lmaster...unfortunately 😥
From a couple of weeks ago, we have some "C" themes masking with some clay, collagen and Crème Shop:
The Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Hyaluronic Clay Pore-Tight Facial Mask 2.03 oz/ 60 mL was a sample-turned-purchase. It is similar to alpyn beauty Wild Huckleberry 8-Acid Polishing Peel Mask 1.7 oz / 50 mL, in shade and consistency - which is quite complex. In the pink clay base is a blend of both tiny, clear exfoliating granules (hydrated silica, a form of silicone dioxide or sand) and “micronized blueberry seed powder.” There are visible blueberry seeds, which add to its beauty. Alpyn’s peel also uses hydrated silica, blueberry and bamboo powder, and a blend of AHA/BHA acids. A side by side comparison shows 39 ingredients for the GR, and an impressive 61 for Alpyn’s mask. The Alpine also has a whopping 24 fruit/seed extracts, including Cinnamomum Camphora Linalooliferum Wood Extract, which can be irritating for those with sensitive skin. GR has only 8 extracts, which may be the reason it does not come with a 5-minute warning. While I love the Huckleberry Peel, setting my timer is a must; otherwise my skin graduates to a warm, scarlet hue. Both leave my skin feeling softened, but for ease of use, I opted to replenish with this rather than the Alpyn when I finished my jar.
Alpyn's Peel Close Up
Next up was the JayJun Collagen Skin Fit Mask. This was a two-step mask that includes a jelly-esque hyaluronic acid essence. I think this is a brilliant pairing, as masking for me is all about boosting that hydration level - something this helps to accomplish. The squishy soft and lush sheet mask had a plastic-y floral scent, was oversize. I left it on for a full 30 minutes, and found a slight residual tack once removed. I applied the essence, an unscented, thicker gel, which absorbed quickly and felt cool on my skin. This is a mask I would pick up again, save for the slightly unpleasant sheet scent, it worked well for my skin.
Ingredients:
The Crème Shop Gentle Cutie Hydrogel Under Eye Patches were very moisturising and cute, to boot. I typically do not spring for single-use eye patches for myself, but these were too cute to pass up.
Finally, the fresh Rose Petal-Soft Deep Hydration Lip Balm 0.3 oz/ 10g is one of my favourites (thank you @quspork!), in regular rotation and I am pretty certain I will find it into my cart again after I finish this little jar.
Yes, @lmaster - that is one way to put it 😂🤣
@eshoe Oh what a wonderful masking session 🥳. I too enjoyed the Glow Recipe mask!
We seem to like a few of the same skincare products, @Cissy63 🙌🏼 This one is so gentle for what it does!
Perhaps I’m cheating with the letter of the week, E, but I’m going with “escargot,” French for snail.
If my memory serves me correctly, I believe these were both gifted to me by @itsfi - Thank you so very much! I enjoyed them greatly.
Facetory: Oh my goodness, Rejuvenating Snail mask
It fit pretty well for a Factory mask (it was a little large, but not terrible). It smelled fresh (aloe, witch hazel), and the fabric was nice and soft and clung closely to my skin. I kept it on about 20 minutes. In addition to the snail secretion filtrate, it also has hyaluronic acid and shea butter. I found it nice and hydrating, which was a great treat for my parched winter skin.
Snail Essence Cleanse Moisture Black Mask (from Bisutang).
I don’t think I had ever use a mask from this brand before, but I’m really impressed. I don’t understand the description or ingredients from the packaging, but I imagine it must have some type of snail essence/mucin. The fit was essentially perfect, although I tend to love the fit of charcoal masks in general. My skin was left feeling clean and purified, but it still felt hydrated. I love masks that cleanse my skin but aren’t drying (perfect for winter).
@PrettyPaint you are definitely not cheating with escargot!! 🤣 Sometimes we have to be creative
@PrettyPaint Snail mucin is soothing. 😊 But my mind goes back to my childhood on Christmas Eve. My grandma making snails in tomato sauce. When you took the lid off the pot, they were all under the lid. She had to shake the pot to get them back in the sauce. I didn’t eat it then and not now either 🥴
@Cissy63 Oh my! I don't think I knew that was a type of dish.
@PrettyPaint I am from an Italian American family. Christmas Eve is really a big deal. And a dinner with 7 types of fish is important to some families. Those snails trying to escape from that pot, were one of the fishes. 🐌
What a cute little snail on the front of the Factory mask, @PrettyPaint! Both sounds like they gave your skin some well-deserved love ❤️
@eshoe They were so nice, and very much needed!
This will not come as a surprise, but I’m a little biased here as I think an E for escargot theme is perfectly fitting for the letter of the week @PrettyPaint. Loooove it! ♥️ The Bisutang mask claims to be cleansing and moisturizing. I did a translation and snail mucin extract is included in the INCI list, albeit near the end. 🐌 Great to hear these snail masks work out for you!
Speaking of snail mucin, I heard on the news that there’s some place, relatively close to me, that has a “spa treatment” with snails. Ummmm…. I love me my snail mucin / extract products but I dunno if that’s something I would do. Gonna have to research that a whole lot more, but my knee jerk reaction was “I think snail mucin and I get along better from a distance.” 😆
@itsfi Thank you again for sharing these with me.
I have definitely not heard of a snail spa! If you research it some more, I'd be curious to hear what you learn. They couldn't possibly have snails walking around on your face, could they? I don't think I could handle that.
From last week I didn’t have any opposite masks. So I chose this Rice Facial Sheet Mask from Dermal.
It was a good mask. The sheet was thin but held a lot of milky thin serum. There wasn’t any extra in the pouch
Rice it says, “ is known to glow skin”, “intensively cares it clear and softens texture “ .
The fit wasn’t bad. There were several separations along the edges to make a better fit. The eyes needed a bit of added separation. It didn’t slide around . It stayed secure for the 20 minutes I left it on.
I had no skin issues during or after my use.
There was some tackiness left , but it absorbed within a few minutes.
Afterwards my skin was soft and felt smooth. Into the next day it still felt soft and smooth. I don’t think I could say it was glowing. But I was pleased with it and would repurchase.
@lmaster Yes, I did like it. I would buy it again!
@Cissy63 sheet masks that give some genuine 'glow' are far and few between. Thankfully the hydration factor was there! And it looks like your session fits right in - D for Dermal!
