Thank you @Aaliaa for starting this thread, and giving us a place to share our love for masks💗
@eshoe Just remember to not be impatient and wait after you use the pads lol.
@eshoe @sonnydee, exfoliating before using most mask, not just purifying ones, is often a good thing to do (provided you’re not overexfoliating your skin). It sloughs away the dead skin cells sitting atop the surface of the skin, allowing the ingredients in the mask that follows to better penetrate or absorb into the skin.
@itsfi so a gentle exfoliating wipe like this would work, or maybe a very, very gentle cleanser like Tata Harper Regenerating BHA Exfoliating Cleanser 1.7 oz/ 50 mL prior to masking? I wonder if that is for 2-3x a week masking, vs daily masking🤔
I’m not sure I follow @eshoe. A gentle exfoliating wipe or the Tata Harper product 2-3x per week masking vs daily masking?
Exfoliating the skin helps a sheet mask or wash off mask work better, but unless your skin can handle exfoliating daily, that’s not usually recommended. The Aptos masks that @sonnydee used that recommend exfoliating beforehand seems to be a mask you might use once or twice per week, and not on a daily basis. In that regard it makes sense that exfoliating beforehand would be suggested.
If daily masking, I would say that exfoliating once or twice per week should be plenty. There’s no need to exfoliate before each daily masking session and it would probably be too much to do that anyways for most people Some may be able to handle that much exfoliation but for most folks, it seems like it would be too much and be damaging to the skin barrier.
PSA: 20% off everything at Ohlolly (dot) com, with code SummerLove. Now thru July 8. The site carries the Heimish pH 5.5 sheet mask that a couple of folks here really enjoy.

@itsfi Oooooo this is not good for me lol
Oh no. Oops. I’m so sorry @ather. You’re on a no-buy. Look away. Look. Away.
@itsfi Lol. It’s ok. I’ll just dream!
Thank you, @itsfi, this seems like a good weekend to stock up!
There should be some good sales this weekend @eshoe.
@itsfi Thanks for the heads up! I'll definitely have to check it out, especially if they sell the Heimish mask! 😃👍
They have a lot of great Kbeauty skincare @Shosh85! One of my favorite online stores. The two woman who own the brand are super nice.
A is for Age Defying Açaí Air Wrapping mask
Whole Foods Age Defying Açaí Air Wrapping Mask
This is a two piece foil mask, which has a metallic pink colored foil on the outside and cotton on the inside touching your skin. It fit great - just a tiny bit too wide at the temples and a smidge too short at the forehead. It was saturated with plenty of serum and there wasn't any discernible scent that I could tell. As with most foil masks I've tried, the adherence wasn't the greatest, but it was still pretty comfortable to wear the half hour I had it on. My face was just very slightly tacky after removing, but absorbed after about 10 minutes. My face looked and felt a little bit smoother and my skin felt refreshed and hydrated.
This is a decent one and the colored foil is fun, but I probably wouldn't repurchase, due to adherence issues and because the results weren't too impressive.
@Shosh85 It looks really pretty! 🙂 I think I've tried the cotton version of the WF acai mask. I wonder if the serum is exactly the same.
@PrettyPaint I haven't tried that one yet, but I don't think they use the same serum though - I've used the hydrating coconut in two different materials and the ingredient lists of those weren't the same. It would be interesting to see how the two acai masks compare! 😃
This mask looks fab on you @Shosh85! Too bad it was just okay. Or maybe that’s a good thing, if we ask your wallet. 😆 I’m trying to think if this is the only “air wrapping” mask in the Whole Foods sheet mask line up. 🤔
@itsfi I'm not sure how many foil masks they have, but so far I've tried 3. This one, Brightening Skullcap (gold) and Purifying Rose (silver). If I remember correctly, the Brightening Skullcap one was my favorite 😃
Oh yes!! Skullcap! I did like that one a lot @Shosh85!
@Shosh85 Too bad it didn’t stick great. I love the colour of it tho very pretty!
@ather Most of the foil masks I've tried just don't have the greatest adherence. This one still turned out nice though! 😃
It's a really pretty mask on you @Shosh85 sorry it wasn't as good as others from the line
