Good time to buy perfumes?

I am looking for some Christmas gift set for my mom and my sister but I wonder if it’s a good time to but perfume or not? Is there any discount better than Sephora 20% off *could be on Macy or Nordstrom or other retailers*. Btw I want to buy my mom the CHANCE EAU TENDRE 5OZ. EAU DE TOILETTE TWIST AND SPRAY SET and my sister the Nomade Set from CHLOÉ. Any advise our smart shopping ladies?

Re: Good time to buy perfumes?

@jaychou, Perfume is rarely discounted, even during major sales periods. You can try discount and wholesale stores online like Fragrancenet. There is also eBay but you have to trust the seller. 20% is a good deal from a retailer like Sephora.

Re: Good time to buy perfumes?

@jaychou If you're looking for the best deal on perfumes you should check out discount stores like Nordstrom Rack, TJ Maxx, and Marshall's.  I believe I've seen perfume sets for about $45, and it will contain a full sized perfume, lotion, and shower gel.  I think they're discounted somewhere between 30-50% off the MSRP.

20% is the best deal you will get at Sephora.  You can look into their Sephora favorite sets which are about $60-$75.  It includes a gift certificate for a full-sized perfume out of the selection of samples you get in your box.  Some of the boxes have certificates for full-sized perfumes which cost $120, so if you bought the box for $75 with a 20% discount, you'd get the $120 perfume for $50.  This only works if you like the perfumes in the box though.  Some of the perfumes you can exchange the certificate for are only worth $60-70, in which case you're still only getting the 20% discount.

If you like shopping at ulta they usually do points sales on fragrance in December.  You get like 5x points on fragrances, meaning that if you spent $400 on perfume you'd get 2000 points which could be redeemed for $125 worth of products at ulta.  If you look at it as $525 worth of products for $400 it's like a 24% discount, which is slightly better than Sephora's.

You could also try to wait for the bigger department stores like Neiman's Bloomingdale's or Saks.  They usually do gift card events so you can get a giftcard back for spending money there, but it probably won't be better than the 20% discount.
