Product recs for dry/oily combo face

I’ve been struggling for about 10 years now with a very oily T-zone. Everything else is relatively dry.  Prior to that, I was more acne prone during my teen years, and I’ve never really gotten a routine down that works since.

Products I use are Fresh Rose Deep Hydration Face Moisturizer and Rose Hyaluronic Toner. The cleanser always changes because they all feel so drying, but that may be the problem. For the most part, I’ve used Peter Thomas Roth anti-aging Cleansing gel, and the Fresh Rose Exfoliating mask. I’m willing to break away from the Fresh products, but I love how they seem to work with dryness. Those I’ve been using for about 2 years, but the oily Tzone issue is unending… Honestly think I have the oiliest skin I’ve ever seen. 😭

I don’t normally wear a ton of makeup, but I use Elf matte charcoal primer on my nose and forehead. It usually works for the first hour.

My other problem is that I take salt based medication, making it hard for me to keep up with water intake. I try, but my job just doesn’t really allow for me to hydrate as often as I should.

Could I get some product recs that might help? After struggling for years, any help would be appreciated!

Re: Product recs for dry/oily combo face

Hey there,

I’ve attached a list of products that may really help your skin out. I would suggest using active ingredients but check with your doctor/dermatologist if it’s okay to use these products with your medication. Best cleanser is not offered on Sephora. I would recommend the COSRX snail muchin cleanser for you. Then go in with Farmacy AHA/BHA toner (green bottle in set I attached). After toning, use marine hyaluronics for hydration. Then finish with rose hip seed oil. If you can use a small amount of mandelic acid I would after the marine hyaluronics but check first if you can. I would also start small with the active for your skin to adjust. Also, using an oil for your oily skin proves worthwhile. I hope it all works out for you! If I could suggest only three products it would be 1. COSRX Snail Muchin cleanser 2. Farmacy AHA/BHA toner 3. The Ordinary Organic cold pressed rose hip seed oil.

Best of luck!

It sounds like you can benefit greatly from niacinamide! It helps with oil control. Start as a serum. A benzoyl peroxide cleanser or spot treater can help active acne. Using a vitamin C toner can also help with dark spots. Rose oil with added ingredients can also help with retaining water as well as hyaluronic acid serum. Hope this helps!
