Post in Oily Skin

Has anyone with oily skin tried the tatcha silk canvas primer?

Has anyone tried the tatcha silk canvas primer yet? If so, did you have to layer it on for it to work better for the oiliness?

Re: Has anyone with oily skin tried the tatcha silk canvas primer?

Hi @sand

I have oily skin and have been having good luck with the Tatcha primer. At first, I used the disc to scoop enough product to reach the line as directed but found that to be way too much. A little goes a long way. I use it with the Fenty foundation and the new Hourglass setting powder and I’ve seen a huge improvement. I notice less shine throughout the day (even my husband noticed!) and my makeup looks better and lasts longer.

The Tatcha silk canvas is a game changer, and so worth the price, you will only need a pee size amount and it would smooth out your face, and help that makeup stay on longer while creating a barrier so the oil does not start seeping into the skin after a few hours of makeup wear

Re: Has anyone with oily skin tried the tatcha silk canvas primer?

@sand I'm super oily, mostly in my t-zone but as summer is already in full swing in Tennessee, my whole face is oily. With that being said, the Tatcha primer does not do much to keep my oil under control. It makes foundation go on so well, and gives skin a very smooth finish but I'm still an oily mess. I have a deluxe sample of this so no disk to dig it out with. It took a little experimenting with the amount to get it right. I did notice that if i got too much, it not only didn't help with oil but made foundation a bit cakey. So i would say if you're looking for oil control you probably won't get it with this primer. Try something like Cane + Austin Prime and Protect Mattifying primer. This is one of the only ones i have found that makes skin look good while also keeping oil under control.

My nose is the trouble area for oil on my face -- I can't get anything to stay on it! I did buy the Tatcha primer and it comes with a small disk with a line on it. You're supposed to use the disk and dig into the primer until the line and use that much. With that being said, my foundation sits beautifully on the skin when I wear this but I don't notice it helping with oil on my nose or anywhere else. I don't really recommend it for oily skin....but I still use it because I bought the full sized product and I'm not throwing that money away!

@sand Hey there, so I am not oily however I feel I should chime in! I have a deluxe sample of this and find that a little goes a long way, and if you put too much then your face feels a bit strange.  My foundation didn't sit well when I first applied too much of the primer, so I imagine if you're oily it would probably make it even worse.  I'm combination btw so slightly oily on my nose area.
