A uncomfortable and frustration shopping experience in Sephora store @300 Madison Ave, NY

I had a very uncomfortable and very frustration shopping experience in 300 Madison ave, NY on 07/27/2017.

 

Here are the conversation I had with 4 different sephora staff:

Due to no price label on the lip balm,

I asked one staff:"Can you tell me the price for this lip balm?"

Staff: "No, I don't know"

I:"Can you check for me?"

Staff: "No, I can't"

When I am trying the YSL foundation, because I am not sure the color I am trying is the correct color or not, I asked

"Am I trying the color ivory or warm ivory?"

Staff:"Sorry, I don't know."

When I am looking for the Shishedo cleaning oil, I asked

"Did the cleaning oil still have stock"

Staff:"I don't think so" (But I found one later)

When I checked out, I saw the lady in front of me get one small sample, I asked

"Can I have a same sample ?"

Staff:"No,we can't give a you sample"

 

Those are the experience I had in the sephora store today , whatever I asked, the answer I got is "No, I don't know" "No, you cann't". When I need some help from the sephora staff, what I got are all rude, negative answers.  I was so frustrated by the arrogant staff in the sephora store. They just ignored my questions, with bad attitude.

 

As a sephora VIB rouge member, should I be treated in this such a unprofessional way?

What I asked is just very simple, why the staff in the store acted in such kind of way? In the end I got what I want to buy, but the bad experience I had is unforgettable.

I shop in that sephora a lot because it is close to where I work.It is usually really busy- I suppose it is just the location there's always a ton of tourists since it's between Bryant park and grand central. 

 

I suppose it's just hit or miss---I had a really nice girl there help me find a shade in the hourglass stick foundation and she tried a bunch of options on me to find the perfect shade. It did take me like 5-10 minutes of stalking associates though before I got someone who was free -I think it's more that the beauty consultants in there are just so busy every time I actually get help they are really nice but it's hard to get someone's attention.

I don't like that store either. When you ask for samples they treat you as if you just came there for free hoarding. They don't get a lot of new releases either. I stopped bothering to go there. And I also had the same experience not getting answers for product questions.

@masahithat's terrible. Sorry to hear you had this kind of service. There's no reason for that.  I would have walked out and placed my order online and got my 3 free samples, no questions asked.

What ever happened to good customer service?  Doesn't anyone believe in it anymore?

That's terrible @masahi! I'm so sorry you were treated this way! Hopefully a mod can come in and forward your experience to the store. That's totally unacceptable! Unfortunately my local store has gone downhill as well. It seems to be all about management because once the sweet and helpful manager left my store, it all went down from there. 😞

Yes, I think it's all about the management, in the past I always shopped in this Sephora store, and the staff was not bad, but start from this year, the shopping experience went down...and yesterday was really a bad experience for me......I will not shop in that store again..
