For my new year mani, I used Black Dahlia Lacquer Mystery on all nails.  Two fussy coats.  One coat would probably have been enough.  When I first opened the bottle, the polish was easy to use.  By the time I got to my second hand, it started applying thick and goopy.  The second coat was just as bad.  It is filled with rainbow holo.

I am also using Black Dahlia Lacquer Immortal Glow on thumb and ring.  One easy coat.  This is a lovely topper in a cream-colored base.  It is filled with blue, pink, red, and gold holo.

BDL definitely gets thick quick, I dunno what it is about their formula that causes it, but nearly every bottle I've ever used has needed thinner even with the first use. It generally is fine after that though!

Thanks for the info on BDL.  I'll be sure to have my thinner handy the next time I use one from this brand.  My brain doesn't think, "use thinner," yet.  It thinks, "Grrrr!" 😄

Half the time, I don't think about thinner either, just get annoyed, and I know it's a thing with their polish, so don't feel bad 🤣

With just a couple more days to go, I'm sending off 2022 and ringing in 2023 with this mani, which I recreated after seeing it on @nailsrnd IG -

Black polish for thumb, index, middle and top part of ring finger is SEPHORA COLLECTION Color Hit Mini Nail Polish L76 Black Lace , a black creme. I was surprised by this one, in a good way. I can get an opaque finish in 1-2 coats depending on the length of my nails

The pale pink on the lower half of my ring finger nail is SEPHORA COLLECTION Color Hit Mini Nail Polish L04 Strawberry Macaron. It's a very, very, very sheer, pale pink hue, not what I was expecting from a "strawberry" shade. This is 4 thin coats; the first two are streaky and the third covers the bald patches. Not my favorite but it worked here since I only needed half the nail painted in this shade. 

Pinky is three coats of China Glaze Techno, a clear base with silver holo glitters in different shapes and sizes. 

Accents to the ring and middle finger nails were done with one coat of Deborah Lippmann Gel Lab Pro Nail Polish Wow, a demi-metallic silver and two coats of China Glaze Techno. I initially just used the China Glaze polish but it wasn't showing up as boldly so I put down a thin layer of the Deborah Lippmann polish on the second try and like how that allowed the sparkles in the China Glaze to stand out more. In hindsight, I'm wondering if I should have done the same for the pinky nail. I want to see how this China Glaze polish looks paired with a few other base colors so I might try that another day.

I've had so much fun on this thread this year, thanks to everyone here. My polish collection has grown by leaps and bounds, also thanks to everyone here. 😂 I'll be spending much of next year doing some serious shop-my-stash manis. 💅 Hoping the last few days of this year treat you well and wishing you all the best for a healthy, happy, fun & fabulous 2023!
