WOW! Today I received the most amazing gifts from Sephora, Tom Ford, Stellar, Too Faced & Gucci! ❤
This wonderful gift includes:
↪ Open the spoiler for all the amazing details
I am so grateful for the generosity of Sephora! Thank you so very much for these wonderful gifts! I can't wait to play with each item. I will come back with a thorough review shortly!
🌟 ETA: our other lucky recipients of these amazing gifts!
Full face of all of the products received, plus some swatches:
What great pics! Thanks for the swatches and the gorgeous full face @ClassicallyFab
Update: I tried the Stellar primer for the first time, yesterday. Have mercy! This makes skin gorgeous on its own. This is a pic of me with just the Stellar Brilliant primer on, and a dash of concealer on my chin (with tightlined eyes, and mascara) before my workout. It fills pores phenomenally. Yet, my skin is oily, and when I wore this with the Smashbox Hydrating foundation that is geared toward oily skin types, my foundation broke down, which seldom happens. I had better luck today using the Stellar Brilliant Primer with Estée Lauder's Double Wear. I'm going to keep trying it, and learn what this works best with for my skin type
No filter. Yes, nose is shiny because I hadn't used powder or foundation. I had just peeked in the mirror and was like, "Wow- this stuff is miraculous". Lol. 🙃
Beautiful! You are so fortunate to have that classic look that can get away with some liner, mascara, and lipstick. Are you by any chance French at all? 😉 @ClassicallyFab
Ha, aww thanks @Ispend2much6! European roots all the way! Ooo, that reminds me- I have to check my 23andme account. New reports have been released!
@ClassicallyFab Let me know!
I wanted to share my experiences/impressions of the lovely gratis, so I figured that I would start a reply here. I will edit this post as I get to know the products more intimately.
First up is Gucci Bloom EDP Rollerball. Here is my review:
4/5 stars:
I was fortunate to receive this as a complimentary gift from Sephora. The company sure does know how to pick a lovely fragrance. When I first smelled Bloom, I immediately picked up on the tuberose and jasmine. True to the description, the scent unfolded so that I was able to discern differing notes. I was especially impressed since I normally have a weak sense of smell.
Once I applied the EDP to my wrists, I was happy with the strength of the fragrance. I felt like it was "just right." I normally spray fragrances on my chest/torso area, but having the scent on my wrists reminded me of another way to apply fragrance. When I was a little girl, my grandmother would let me apply EDT to my wrists and behind my ears, so this definitely brought back some lovely memories.
Once I applied Bloom to my skin, I picked up more of the white flower scent than the rose. I find that sort of scent to be classic and sophisticated, so I was pleased.
The longevity of the scent was only a few hours, so I took off one star for that. But seeing how this is a rollerball, it is quite easy to re-apply.
Next, Tom Ford Lip Color in Scarlet Rouge. Here is my review:
4/5 stars:
I was fortunate to receive this product as gratis from Sephora. When I saw a shot of this on BIC, it looked like a deep berry to me. In person, this is a red-orange color that I liken as similar to gazpacho.
The formula was amazing! It was silky and moisturizing. Plus, I was *so* happy to see that it was a satin finish as I have never embraced mattes. The color was pigmented, and provided good coverage; it was buildable, too.
I feel obligated to say that this color is not one that suited me. The orange-tone seemed to clash with my coloring, and it accentuated asymmetry in my lips that I had never thought much of before. Thus, I did not feel comfortable sharing a pic.
Still, I feel that this formulation has potential! I will definitely explore other colors from this line - probably pinks, brownie colors or even more "true" reds.
And Too Faced Peach Mist Mattifying Setting Spray review:
4/5 stars: I was very fortunate to receive this as gratis from Sephora. First, I have to say that I was impressed with how well this worked to keep my eyebrows (I fill them in with powder) and my blush in place. This was an ideal product for me, because I have been noticing my makeup sliding around by mid-morning. It was a relief not to have to spot-check as frequently.
Since posting on BIC, I have tried this on a full face of makeup and it did a great job of setting my makeup with that perfect matte finish. I can't tell you what a relief it is to not have to touch up areas by my nose and mouth. I will say that I followed the advice of other reviewers and gave this a hearty shake; I didn't have any issues with the spray. I also enjoyed the smell, but I did find that once I was spraying this all over my face I found the smell to be a bit much. But to each her own. I don't care much about fragrance as long as a product works well.
Now the Stellar Brilliant Primer review:
4/5 stars: I started by giving this a whirl when I went out to dinner with a friend. I was short on time so I placed applied this on areas that I wanted a glow to: the upper cheek bones for some highlight, and above the arch of my brows in order to look less tired at the end of the work day. The effect was subtle, but definitely worth it! I even got a compliment from a friend on my makeup 🙂 Best of all, this was easy to use.
Now that it has gotten cooler out, I've been able to test drive this under foundation. I found that when I used a sheer foundation, I saw the most luminosity. When I used a light foundation, I saw a little bit. And when I used full coverage foundation, I must admit that it was hard for me to detect this product's brilliance. It is worth mentioning, though, that this is a solid primer. It definitely made my skin ready for foundation and was so much for more to use than a simple moisturizer.
P.S. I received this product as generous gratis from Sephora.
Onto the Too Faced Sweetie Pie Radiant Matte Bronzer review:
5/5 stars: I received this as gratis from Sephora, and couldn't be happier! This bronzer was almost too pretty to dip into, so I had to wait for a little while! The formulation is elegant, as it is smooth and velvety which makes it easy to apply and blend. I've been eschewing blush for the last several weeks as it has just gotten so hot that I am afraid pink cheeks will be overkill. I have actually been using this either as a light blush or to add just a little definition under my cheekbones. The color was very natural looking - not orange-y or too dark or flat like other bronzers.
When it momentarily cooled down, I used this to prolong my summer glow by applying in a "3" across my face. I did it with a light hand, so as to give more of a aura of radiance than sculpting. It was very natural looking. I think this will be a go-to for me in the coming weeks when I get ghastly pale! Very versatile!
Finally, Tom Ford Eye Color Quad in Honeymoon first impressions:
So, the crazy thing is that I was the MOST excited for this product. But the colors were different from what I usually wear: I usually use gold tones as accents, and while I adore shades in the plum family, the ones in this quad seem richer than I am accustomed to. So, I waited and waited - I didn't want to dip into this gorgeous gift and make a mess of it! I loved what ClassicallyFab did, but I didn't think I'd be able to pull it off as well as she did. Fortunately for me, there was Live Chat with Allan Aponte from Tom Ford and he went over how to use this quad for a smokey eye. Here's what he had to say:
To create the perfect smokey eye for brown eyes, I would recommend you use our Tom Ford Eye Quad in Honeymoon with Onyx Eye Kohl. Start with the third shade all over the eye, and darken the outer corner of your eyes with shade No. 4, and highlight the inner corner of your eye with shade No. 2. Finish with Tom Ford Extreme Mascara.
I have green eyes, but I'm sure this will work. As soon as I have time, I am going to try this out! I am so excited to have these great tips!
Hi, all! Today I wore (again) the Honeymoon palette. I absolutely love this palette. I could live on this one alone.
I also wore the TF lipstick. This is an orange-red color. I wore a coral colored top and that really brought out the orange in the lipstick. Last week I wore something that brought out the red (though you could still see that it was an orange-red). I love this color; orange-red lipstick is one of my favorite colors of reds. It's sheerer than what I'm used to, but it's still opaque after a couple of passes. It's shiny, but not glossy shiny and blots down to a satiny finish.
I wore the Too Faced bronzer. It looked great on my pasty white face. It wasn't too golden nor too ashy. It's the sort of color that if I don't know what color blush to wear, I'll reach for this. (I wear my bronzers as blush.) I tried to swatch, but just couldn't get a good picture of the color.
Finally, I finished with the setting spray. I'm not familiar with these and I'm not sure what they're supposed to do. When I got home, my makeup didn't look any different and my face was no more and no less oily than normal. It does have a nice soft scent that doesn't last too long.
Last week I wore the Gucci Bloom perfume on two different days. I'm undecided about this. It's probably the tuberose I'm having an issue with.
I also tried the primer...carefully. It contains an ingredient I'm allergic to, but I figured with the minute amount I would be using it wouldn't be a problem. As with all luminizing primers, I felt my face looked oily, not dewy and glowy. Having grown up with extremely oily skin and cystic acne, shiny skin looks oily to me, not dewy or glowy! I did like the texture and it dried quickly. It seems like a nice primer--I just wish it were matte and didn't have that particular ingredient in it. I may try it later this week as a highlighter.
Please don't laugh. 🙂 I don't want to post a photo of me wearing the makeup, but I did want to share the swatches. I do think the eyeshadows go well together. Surprisingly the burgundy shadow shows up more as a brown.
Too Faced Sweetie Pie Radiant Matte Bronzer on cheeks (shades swirled together,) Tom Ford Lip Color Scarlet Rouge on lips, and the Tom Ford Honeymoon eyeshadow palette- on the left eye the lightest shade is under the brow, the burgundy shade in the crease, the medium shade on the lid, and the dark for lining and outer edge of the lid. The same setup is applied on the right eye.
I don't know why the photo is sideways. It's not that way on my computer.
Love the drawing! Have you worn any of these, yet?
No. I will need to update on that later. I was just so in awe of the products I kind of wanted to keep it as a shrine to Sephora for awhile. 😉
@Titian06 Interesting to hear that you might try the primer as a highlight! I noticed that it had an instant smoothing effect thanks to its silicone-y texture.
I've been loving the Honeymoon palette as well! It's surprising to me because I usually stray away from palettes with no mattes at all, but the four shimmers work really well together. ♡
Thanks so much to KatieBT, Sephora, Stellar, Tom Ford, Too Faced and Gucci!! Everything is beautiful, and I am so grateful to have been chosen.
Thanks to @Ispend2much6, as well! 💕
