alright, here it is. use this thread to request swatches. the guidelines are up to you and your needs: single swatches, comparison swatches, specific skin tone swatches
when comparisons are requested, feel free to provide whatever you have of that request--i want anyone to participate and contribute if they want to. have fun, hope this is helpful !
So if anyone else is like me and seriously debating between Viseart Tryst and ABH Soft Glam now, I stacked the Beautylish swatches for comparison.
(Tryst is the wider set on top of each; Soft Glam is on the bottom.)
@fieldsofclover -- Sweet! It looks like the colors in the Soft Glam are similar to the Viseart palette. Tough decision. I need to go to Sephora this week to swatch Soft Glam to help see if I can narrow it down.
@fieldsofclover Thanks for posting this!! I was debating between 3 palettes: Soft Glam, Modern Ren or Viseart Tryst. I definitely liked the shades better in the Soft Glam compared to the others- the Viseart had too many pinkish shades for me and I really don’t wear too much pink..... but I’m wondering if the formula is better in the Viseart one? Some of the reviews I was reading made it sound like that 🤷♀️
@Shosh85 If you're thinking the Viseart might have too much pink for you, then you definitely don't want Modern Ren. It has rusty colors but the pinks tilt toward the cool end of things.
@fieldsofclover Yup, that’s exactly what I was thinking. I’m pretty satisfied with my Soft Glam purchase! 😉
@jozkid @Shosh85 @fieldsofclover @dolldot Sounds like I have some swatching to do if there is good sunlight tomorrow - lol!
Soft Glam vs. Tryst vs. NARS Wanted 🙂
Anything else y'all want me to compare? My daughter is home on Spring Break, so that's two extra arms to swatch! 😉
@jozkid is exactly right... it's a trick of the eyes because the one pink shade and the plum shade jump out at you, but it's pretty similar to the Rose Pink shade and the other colors are all peachy/bronze.
I think it's neat that the color story changes so much between the two with just that one difference (a plum shade instead of a dark brown) since most of the extra ABH pans are oranges and browns. I'm definitely going to get the Viseart one now but I had to look at them a lot more carefully than I expected. @Shosh85
@jozkid Yeah, it’s funny how shades can look different in certain lighting and pictures!! I still like the shades in the Soft Glam a little better- I wear more bronzey-brownish than anything else. But who am I kidding— I will eventually most likely cave in and buy the Viseart palette too, haha! I think I’m gonna do more research on the Viseart shades.....😉
@jozkid @fieldsofclover Here is another swatch, with the shade names next to them. I’ve been trolling the internet looking at different swatches, and think I have a pretty good feel for the shades, lol, and I think I’d really only wear like 2 or 3 of them. At $49 I feel I should like more than that. It is sooo pretty and very tempting to buy though!
I got a lot of new goodies in the mail today (from my Cult Beauty and Sephora orders)...so swatches:
Singles liquid lipsticks. Top to bottom: Beauty Bakerie Gingersnap, Beauty Bakerie Royal Tea, Armani #601 Attitude, Jouer Snapdragon, Jouer Dahlia
I also got the Jouer holiday lip cream trio. The packaging is beautiful, but slightly disappointed in the shades. More on that later.
Top to bottom: Winter Rose, Cranberry, Clove
Cranberry and Clove are both beautiful, but reminded me of other metallic shades I already have.
The cluster of reds are Colourpop Mug Shot (top), Jouer Cranberry (left) and Milani Mattely in Love (right). Mug Shot is nothing like the other two. It's more muted and more of a rust red with warmer undertone. Cranberry and Mattely in Love are nearly identical, Cranberry is maybe ever so slightly more pink and less metallic than Mattely in Love. If you can easily find the Milani, I'd skip the Jouer trio if you're getting it mainly for Cranberry.
The cluster of browns are Colourpop Maneater (top), Jouer Clove (left), Milani Pure Mattness (centre) and Colourpop Zebra (right). The Colourpops are both much lighter than the other two. I actually thought Jouer Clove and Milani Pure Mattness would be closer but Pure Mattness is noticeably more red than Clove. Both are warm browns
Two purples on the bottom are Jouer Dahlia (left) and Milani Automattic Touch. Automattic Touch is more noticeably more metallic than Dahlia, and the base is brighter/lighter as well.
Close up comparison of the brown comparison swatches in natural lighting. Jouer Clove on top, then Milani Pure Mattness, and Colourpop Zebra on bottom. Colourpop Maneater on the right.
Then I compared Beauty Bakerie Gingersnap (top) to Smashbox Out Loud (bottom) and KVD Lolita II (right). I don't have Lolita but would imagine Gingersnap to be like it...it's somewhere between Out Loud and Lolita II.
And comparing Beauty Bakerie Royal Tea (left) to Colourpop 3-Way. Their base colour is similar but the shimmer might make it seem like Royal Tea have a slightly more red undertone. Both are purple, though. Both also have tiny specks of gold glitter, however 3-Way has a more significant golden flash compared to Royal Tea. The biggest difference would be formula... Royal Tea dries down completely whereas 3-Way never fully dries down.
Phew! There you have it!!
I definitely have a liquid lipstick problem when I can find close matches for most new additions in my existing collection!
Also: I like the Armani Lip Magnet shade but was disappointed that they're more like the YSL Vinyl Lip Cream than a liquid lipstick. Attitude is a gorgeous deep purple though!
I received my lip magnet today too (same shade) and am also slightly disappointed in it.
I'm only wearing one layer but it feels both drying and slightly sticky/tacky, so I don't think I'll be buying more. Attitude is a pretty color, but I'd be willing to bet money it's not a unique shade in my collection.
Ah well, live and learn 😉
Your Gingersnap looks similar to NARS Jane.
I ordered two magnets with the 20% off and I was disappointed in the formula. I found them so drying and they lasted maybe an hour and a half (no eating or drinking).... Colors were beautiful, but the wear was just a bummer.
Now I am worried. I ordered the lip magnet only because of the formulation people raving about. God knows I don't need more lip products. Fingers crossed I will like it.
