Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022/2023/2024
The Fit, The Fab and The Face: Outfit and Inspo Thread What are you wearing today Pt2
Week 48 (November 18-24): Let's get "Pop"ular - Wicked movie/musical week.
Create a look with anything from a collab with the movie/musical Wicked, use anything from any Wicked Collaboration (One/Size, R.E.M., Opi, etc) " or anything that inspires you, particularly accenting pink, gold or green.
Week 49 (November 25-Dec 1): Fairytale makeup - Part 1 - Cast of Characters. This is any fairytale makeup magic your heart desires from your favorite sidekick/supporting character. Doesn't need be a cosplay level look, whether it's using a cool color shifting liner or working a full fairy godmother look, let your makeup be inspired by the ones who always had the hero/heroine's back.
Week 50 (December 2-8th): Part 2 -The Princess Edit - give me your best Disney Princess/Prince blush look. Are we going snow white rouge, or snatched Cinderella??
Week 51 (December 9-Dec 15): Part 3 - Very Villainous. Not at all demure.
Let's be honest, Ursula, Maleficent, the evil queen....all slayed the makeup game, and then subsequently slained. Well, what are heroics without the calamity of a counterpart? Bring out your inner baddie this week.
Week 52 (Dec 16-22): Wickedly Wintry: If it's in the title (the lion, the witch and the wardrobe), why not pay homage to it? Using elements of ice and frost, give me your best Ice Queen look aka white witch from Narnia. Silvery, sparkly highlights welcome. If that's too frosty forward, any element of silver or white within your look can play to this theme.
Week 52 (again) (Dec 23-29): Belle of the Ball - Give me Glitz! Glam! All the glitter! Feel free to use any holiday release, like the Dior or Nars collections.
2025 Week 1 (Dec 30-Jan 5) Pixie Power! I want to see spritely cheeks, there needs to be a gold or glow involved. Tinkerbell time!
Week 2 (Jan 6-12): Frosty Foliage: Give me that sunset blush look, but make it frosty...plum, berries, holographic shimmer. (Not quite foliage, but I was going for the callback and alliteration.)
Completed 2024 Weekly Challenges:
💗💗❤️❤️💗💗💗
Year 3:
Week 1-2 (Break)
Jan 14-20: Cherry Cola/Cherry Cocktail Lips + Cheeks. Think ombre lips and burgundy or deep red looks.
Jan 21-27: Hot Toddy Week. Think bright and sultry, go for golds and honey or amber colors.
Jan 28-Feb 3: Espresso Martini\Martini Week. This is the martini look - green and shimmer, but you could also add a deep lip to it or go for brown or plum version.
Feb 3-10: Maiden's Blush or Cosmopolitan Week This is the one that started it - Maiden's Blush, by RMS beauty. It's coral, shimmery and warm.
Feb 11-17: Red Wine & Hot Chocolate - If you do partake in alcohol, try this it's delicious. The look speaks to red and brown, but again, you choose.
Feb 18-24: Pink Blush /Blush Wine - Essentially, this is a pink look, but pinks have all sorts of tones, so have fun playing with this, whether it's all pink or a pop of pink.Week 10 (Feb 24- March 2): Lunar/ Chinese New Year Looks - This is a little late but the 24th was the lantern festival, so I think we can still celebrate this week!
Week 11 (March 3-9): I’m Cold Makeup Trend - This one’s been on the list for a while and I would love to try it out and see your looks!
Week 12 (March 10-16): March Sentimental Items - Any makeup items that spark a memory or have sentimental value for any reason, big or small. Let us know what is special about these items!
Week 13 (March 17-23): Dolly Week! Anything inspired by the America’s darling, Dolly Parton!
Week 14 (March 24-March 30): 5 minute Makeup Face & Faves - Share your go-to quick and easy face and favorite items! Super-collab with Capsule Makeup Collection Challenge and Sephora Six - Fast & Furious Edition
Week 15 (March 31-April 6): Cartoon influence (i.e. Jem/she-ra/bratz/anime/etc) - I know I’m dating myself with Jem and She-ra but I thought it’d be fun to recreate a look from any cartoon!
Week 16 (April 7-12): Pastels!! (I’ll update the next few weeks soon but have been wanting to explore some pastels for Spring.)
Week 17&18 (April 13-27): Sale Haul Newness + Shop Your Stash! Don’t let your new items gather dust, try them out and post your thoughts! If you’re on a low/no buy, please shop your stash and share what you love about the items you chose!
Week 16 & 17 (April 16-29)***: Sephora Spring sale - newness/or anything you haven’t gotten around to wearing/or shop your stash. (Note: I'm not sure when the Spring sale is happening, so I may move this one.) ETA: well, it's timed perfectly for shopping in store, though online purchases may not make it in time! Feel free to keep posting spring sale newness into the following weeks!
(***I made the executive decision to extend this one more week since orders are still coming in!)
Week 18 (April 30-May 6): Multichromes week! There have been so many great multi-chrome products and palettes lately, so let's make sure to showcase them!
Week 19 (May 7-13): April Showers bring May Flowers week! This can be a bright and springy look, or a rain-inspired look (or a combo of both!).
Week 20 (May 14-20): World Makeup! A look or trend from around the world. There are lots of K-beauty trends, like crying girl, popsicle/gradient lips, blush, something like a Parisian chic look, or anything else you can think of! (Suggested by @josometimes)
Week 21 (May 21-27): Barbiecore! I was actually never a fan of dolls or Barbies as a kid, and the flood of Barbie on Instagram recently was kind of annoying to me, but I also have a soft spot for pink and Barbie, so I thought I’d add to the challenge. Can be anything from subtle to all out Barbie.
Week 22 (May 28-June 3): Social Media Inspired! Recreate a look and/or create your own look inspired by an influencer you love, or use makeup to recreate a filter. Post a side by side to share with us.
Week 23 (June 4- 10): Festival! Go all out with Glitter / Color / Braids / Hair Accessories or go easy and fresh!
Week 24 (June 11-17): Earth Week! Highlight more sustainable or green makeup brands. Or even just a play on blue, green, or even earthy tones to celebrate the earth. This is a little out of order but summer is a great time to connect with and celebrate the earth! (Suggested by @josometimes)
Week 25 (June 18-24): Summer Solstice! Create a look based on whatever makes you think of summer, maybe a sunny look, bronzed beauty, or zodiac inspired look.
Week 26 (June 25-July 1): Celebrate Pride! I know pride events vary widely by cities, so if you happen to do a pride look in another week, feel free to post anytime!
Week 27 (July 2-8): 4th of July! Let’s see those red, white and blues., fireworks inspired or just summery BBQ looks.
For your summer slays, there will be some additional cheeky challenges - cheers to @danielledanielle for proposing this fun collab with the weekly challenge! Let's get cheeky, chicas and chicos! We'd love it if you cross post your looks in both threads. 😘😘 Cheek Challenge Summer 2023: Collabs with Makeup Challenge of the Week
Week 37 (Sept 1-7): Red lip! Matte or glossy, perfectly lined or smudgy, casual or full glam, let’s break out the reds!
Week 38 (Sept 8-14): Final summer/fall blooms! If you’re seeing any last blooms, let them inspire a look, or fall mums are always good for yellows, burgundies.
Week 39 (Sept 15-21): It’s never too early for PUMPKIN SPICE!
Week 40 (Sept 22-28): SEPHORiA!!! I know not everyone can attend AND there’s no virtual component this year, but share what you would wear or if you’d plan to feature any artist/line specifically in your actual or theoretical SEPHORiA looks.
Week 41 (Sept 29-Oct 5): CINNAMON APPLE SPICE sounds so nice!
Week 42 (Oct 6-12): Technique Focus - Setting your makeup! Setting powder, setting spray, baking, what works for you? I'm notoriously lazy and routinely skip any type of setting whatsoever. Share your tips and tricks and results.
Week 43 (Oct 13-19): Recreate a past look of yours that you loved - I always forget to do this! Post the previous look plus your new look and any changes you made.

Week 46 (Nov. 3-9): Break
Week 47-48 (Nov. 10-23): Sale newness and/or Thanksgiving inspired makeup - browns, oranges, yellows, plums, wines!

So, I could definitely (still) use some makeup inspiration these days and maybe you could too! Several years ago, we used to have some weekly makeup challenge threads, so I’m bringing one back. It’s a great way to spark some creativity and maybe most importantly, a great way to shop your stash!
I started with a list of some challenges below, but also happy to edit/rearrange/consider other ideas along the way. I hope you will join me! Feel free to post as many or as few times you’d like each week with photos of your looks. If you don’t like to post your face, feel free to do a flatlay of the products you used to do your look. Also, if you get behind or ahead, feel free to post pics whenever you have time.
Can’t wait to see all your looks! Have fun! Please feel free to suggest some other challenge ideas in the thread and we’ll add to the coming weeks!!
💕💗💕💗💕
Oh I love your highlights! I am also an oily skin gal! And I use them so sparingly. You know I may just try a combination of some of mine! Your look is so beautiful. Lip look too🥰
@Cissy63 Thanks very much! I tried using a setting spray today (which sometimes I forget to do and I think it helped a bit with my shine.
That was fun to be able to follow along with the steps everything you used @Mellmars1185 than you for sharing this. 🙏💗
You apply your highlighters skillfully, I love Danessa Myricks Beauty Yummy Skin Blurring Balm Powder Lowlighter Soft Glow Highlighter Lowkey paired with HAUS LABS BY LADY GAGA Bio-Radiant Gel-Powder Illuminating Highlighter with Fermented Arnica Peach Q... ⭐🧡 they are great on you!
@CynthieLu Thanks very much! I love Highlighters but I don't use them enough. They also last a very long time 😅
Omg saaaamme @Mellmars1185 Highlighter's never seem to even dent the pan 😅
Beautiful highlight! I love the products you chose 💕 @Mellmars1185
@peculiarzmakeup Thank you kindly! This challenge was a reminder that I should probably use a strong setting spray during the warmer months 😅
@Mellmars1185 - What setting spray do you think you'll use? I have LYS Beauty LYS Beauty Skin Loyalty Setting Spray 3.38 oz / 100 ml . I've only used it a couple of times; but it's not working very well. I also have Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Hydrating & Waterproof Setting Spray 3.3 oz / 100 ml and have used about half the bottle. I know people love this one, but it doesn't work at all for me.
@Titian06 Recently I have been testing them out. I finished up the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray Jumbo 8.11 oz / 240 mL . It worked well but it was long expired, so I am not sure if it was preforming at its best. I have tried the Charlotte Tilbury Mini Airbrush Flawless Hydrating & Waterproof Setting Spray 1.1 oz/ 34 ml and I don't mind it but I need to try it more. The ONE/SIZE by Patrick Starrr On 'Til Dawn Mattifying Waterproof Setting Spray Duo Set seems to be working best for me. I watched a tutorial where the person did two layers of setting spray. She did one coat of CT and let it dry down. Then she went in the the O/S. It was for a bridal tutorial but it seems like a good idea. Apparently the CT brings back the glow after powders are applied and the O/S really locks it in.
Ahhh, I had a chance to play with these Danessa Myricks blurring blush balm powders and the new lowlighters some more!
I moisturized my skin like normal and then used the Danessa Myricks Beauty Yummy Skin Blurring Balm Powder - Tinted Primer & Foundation 2, set with the ONE/SIZE by Patrick Starrr Ultimate Blurring Setting Powder Ultra Pink .
I applied Bellini and It Girl on cheeks and then Danessa Myricks Beauty Yummy Skin Blurring Balm Powder Lowlighter Soft Glow Highlighter Off The Grid for some contour.
And then I put Danessa Myricks Beauty Yummy Skin Blurring Balm Powder Lowlighter Soft Glow Highlighter on eyes, inner corners, cheekbones, upper lip and forehead for that subtle glow. I really see how these help blur texture!

You look gorgeous, @sister13 ! You definitely don't need a filter though I'm sure they're fun to play with. 😁
@sister13 Wow, you look so beautiful! I really like what I've tried from DM, but sometimes I don't feel like I know how to use some of her products because they are so versatile. This is very helpful! 🙂
Thank you! That’s It’s a good point, too many options can be overwhelming! But I do think this one is hard to mess up. Using it all over (or multiple parts of the face) can help tie everything together and add glow but not be too makeup-y! @PrettyPaint
@sister13 So pretty! I have been wanting to reach for the new Lowlighter more. Thanks for the inspiration! 💖
They are Really versatile and pretty, I think! @Mellmars1185
