Makeup Bag Essentials

Would you recommend some essentials for my makeup bag?

Re: Makeup Bag Essentials

@LalaGirly  Here’s what I typically carry on the go:

- Lip balm

- Lipstick I’m wearing that day

- Backup lipstick: a tube that always lives in my purse/bag; it’s either KAJA - Heart Melter Lip Gloss Stick in shade Too Hot or a mini Lipstick Queen Frog Prince

- Blotting paper

- LANCôME - Blur & Go Stick to re-matte my oily nose

- SUPERGOOP! - Invincible Setting Powder SPF 45  or SUPERGOOP! - Unseen Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40

- Brow pencil, though not the one I normally use in the morning; an old NARS Brow Perfector pencil always lives in my purse as an emergency backup

If I wear tinted moisturizer or powder foundation, I don’t carry them with me.

Re: Makeup Bag Essentials

Hi @LalaGirly,

I always have a lip liner, liquid lipstick, mascara, and a blotting powder!

Best,
Rebecca

Re: Makeup Bag Essentials

@LalaGirly I always have to have blot sheets, lip conditioner and my face powder for touch ups.  Sometimes I will add eyeliner and lipgloss.

Re: Makeup Bag Essentials

@LalaGirly  I’ve turned into something of a makeup minimalist in the last few months. I’ve chosen a wide variety of items but made sure they’re all as small as possible, to minimize bulk and weight. Here’s what is in my “to go” bag in my purse:

-eyelash curler (Utowa x Sephora)

-sample or travel-size mascara (varies)

-complexion-smoothing primer (Ole Henriksen)

-pressed oïl-control blotting powder (Fenty)

-blush single (ColourPop)

-cream eyeshadow single (ColourPop)

-illuminator single (ColourPop)

-tinted eyebrow gel (Benefit)

-sheer lip gloss (ColourPop)

-nude lipstick (varies)

-blue red lipstick (varies)

You’ll notice I don’t bring foundation with me. While I do include that (and a few other items) when travelling overnight or abroad, I don’t include it in my day bag. I find that I need time, good light, and a good mirror to apply foundation properly. (I’m a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to foundation application lol.) So, instead, I pack my favourite Ole Henriksen primer which helps to even out my complexion, and allows the rest of my powder components to adhere nicely. It is far from full coverage, but my skin has been quite clear and balanced since I started masking nightly several months ago with gentle Korean, Taiwanese, and Japanese sheet masks.

If you need more information about any of these items, let me know 😊

RE: Makeup Bag Essentials

I think the most important items are the products that don’t wear as long such as lipstick. I always have a travel size or another tube of my favorite everyday lipsticks to wear. A travel size setting spray is a great investment to keep your makeup looking fresh and to prevent cracking of your foundation. I would also recommend makeup removing wipes. I know neutrogena sells little travel size makeup that look great Incase your mascara or eyeliner smudges. You should also carry some blotting powder or powder if you prefer in order to keep your makeup looking shine free. Hope my opinion was helpful:)

Re: Makeup Bag Essentials

Do you mean a purse make-up bag @LalaGirly ? Personally, I always make sure to have a good balm, blotting paper and lip liner.  I also keep a lip & cheek pencil to bring a little life back into my face.  I keep a lot more in my bag but if I lost it tomorrow, those are the first things I would replace. I'm going to link the items I have and recommend.  I have oily skin, FWIW.

Re: Makeup Bag Essentials

Thank you @michelleshops for responding to my question!

I will definitely start a purse makeup bag, I am adjusting my routine to my lifestyle and I am sure that would help !

How about for like basic makeup looks or running errands? Is there anything you recommend ? 😘❤️
