Day To Evening Makeup 💄✨️

This thread is inspired by an event I went to recently. I had time to come home in between the day and evening portion of the event and I ended up redoing my makeup for a slightly more bold look! Post all of your day to night makeup looks, products or advice here!

I don't really change my base, but I try to bulletproof it with skindinavia and Danessa Myricks Beauty Yummy Skin Mattifying Water Powder Serum with Niacinamide and Hyaluronic Acid... as much as possible.  If it really needs a touch up, I use a tip I've learned at a Sephora class back in the day.

1. Use a mist to melt down my make up
2. Go in the areas that need a little love with a concealer
3. Buff in a powder foundation
4. Hit in again with a mist to keep it from looking cakey

This usually works pretty well, and I do this in the daytime, too if I have to mask at work and need to touch it up.

Another thing I usually do is change my lip color, especially if I wore a matte lip.  I apply a gloss over the leftovers and voila, day to night.

If I'm too lazy to bring products, I might go to Sephora.  I've gotten a feature focus service to bulletproof my base once and it was great.  The feature focus is like a piece of a makeover, you can pick something to bump up, I usually go complexion because it's more bang for your buck.  Another thing is get lashes, which definitely adds "oomph", plus you get to keep the lashes thereafter.

@Mellmars1185 ! Finally , so sorry! Life. 😭😘 A few of my thoughts when I have to manage this!

First choice is to at least wash my face if I can’t do eyes too and at least redo that. If not I usually do this little routine:

Refresh my face with a very light application of a tinted moisturizer or tint like DIOR Forever Glow Star Filter Multi-Use Complexion Enhancing Booster or DIOR Forever Glow Maximizer Longwear Liquid Highlighter 017 Nude or any highlighter. I also probably need a light sheer concealer touch up. Bobbi Brown Skin Long-Wearing Color Corrector Stick gives a dewy fresh look. 

At this point I probably don’t have blush on anymore so I reapply a tint like HUDA BEAUTY Blush Filter Soft Glow Liquid Blush Black Cherry as the first layer. (If I do then I probably just add a pop of cream blush.)  Then I go in with a cream blush like MERIT Flush Balm Cream Blush Apres over that. (More is more at this point?! 🥴🤣) If I really need to drive the point home I then add a powder blush like Kosas Blush is Life Baked Talc-Free Dimensional + Brightening Blush Hype or a light touch on top of cheekbones with Westman Atelier Super Loaded Tinted Cream Highlighter Peau de Rose . 

For the eyes, I probably have started out with #charlotte tilbury sophisticate palette (don’t see on Sephora- oh no is it gone?!) as a neutral base. DIOR Diorshow 5 Couleurs Couture Eyeshadow Palette 669 Soft Cashmere is another great neutral one. As it’s so neutral I can layer Charlotte’s Rock Chick or any grey palette over it and it still works for a smoky look.

As I use a brown linerILIA Clean Line Gel Eyeliner Dusk during the day it works to then just go over it with black smudged out as a smoky look or navy liner to make my eyes pop more. I am loving the new DIOR Diorshow On Stage Crayon Kohl Liner 254 Blue and YSL Lines Liberated 24 hour blue liner. Blending is a must with all of this so it doesn’t look too messy but I also don’t like too much of a precious smoky look vs a smudged one. Next comes a fresh layer of Iris&Romeo Mini Lash Up Peptide Volumizing, Curling & Lengthening Mascara Friesian Black . I really love it because you can add to it any time during the day and the way the brush ends works to push up lashes I never need a curler. 

Lastly for lips- always a red even with a bold eye - go big or go home 😆. I probably have remnants of a stain from daytime red- Givenchy Rose Perfecto Hydrating Tinted Lip Balm & Gloss 37 Rouge Grainé or MERIT Signature Lip Lightweight Matte Lipstick Power . So I usually add a balm, wipe it off, then apply something like ILIA Lip Sketch Hydrating Lipstick + Lip Liner Crayon Night Bloom which has amazing staying power, or DIOR Rouge Dior Refillable Lipstick 964 Ambitious or the new TOM FORD Runway Lip Color with 12 Hour Longwear Unzip for a vampy look. A less precise but helpful liner over it all helps seal it all in and give a polished look too. Kosas Hotliner Hyaluronic Acid Contouring Lip Liner Extra is very comfy or for filling in all over , over a balm as well. 

A light dusting of powder or highlighter powder is the perfect finish. Givenchy Prisme Libre Illuminating & Color Correcting Loose Powder 03 Voile Rose or Givenchy Prisme Libre Illuminating & Color Correcting Loose Powder 02 Satin Blanc gives a sophisticated finish to it all. 

(If not needing a dramatic evening look I would just reapply the same day shades over the Dior Star Filter Booster and some fresh lip!) 

For the hair I may spritz some water, refluff/ dry and add styling cream or spray like amika Rising Star Hair Volumizing Finishing Spray 5.3 oz / 185 ml - it’s so light and nice even for short hair . Quick spritz of perfume and done! Voila! Usually only takes about 15! 💞

@Sunnysmom Thank you so much for sharing! I like that your whole day to evening transition takes about 15 min! The Huda Beauty blush shade looks beautiful. I really want to try that formula! I am curious if you are able to apply the Iris & Romeo mascara over the mascara you already have on?

It really does just take about 15 @Mellmars1185 ! Phew. Lol. Yes I can layer this I & R mascara over any of the ones I normally wear or if just over more I & R. It’s almost like that mascara revival idea from MAC I think it is? That’s so good too. I forgot about mentioning that one but I prefer to use this one to get more color added. 😊

Now I just need more places to go so I can do this little bit zhuzhing up! 🤣

I recently was a guest at a wedding I made some adjustments for a bolder look in the evening.

When I got home after the ceremony I changer my eye makeup. For the day I used the lighter shades in the HUDA BEAUTY Empowered Eyeshadow Palette .
In the evening I used PATRICK TA Major Dimension III Matte Eyeshadow Palette and then went in with the deeper shades in the same Huda palette. I used a brown/red shimmer shade on the eyelid from the Pat Mcgrath Celestial Nirvana Palette

I also switched up my earrings! I had too much fun getting ready ☺️
